Hey any of u guys considered Project Entropia?

I'm checking it out now and downloading the client. Looks not bad and another attempt at a post-apocalyptic wolrd (but not on Earth). Not sure how promising it is though. Screenshots dont look amazing but that aint everything i suppose.
Anyway anyone else think its worth it? Its free :D

Indeed, Technically the game is/was better than neocron in a lot of ways, but instead of calling things "Time Sinks" you'd be calling them "money sinks"
The database and servers they employ are great, there's good customisation and other features like buyable and exchangable clothing, however, buyable is the word you go by.
The people who originally found it decided they could make money out of it, but, in the end the game rips you off.
Meh...
Is it impossible to play without paying for stuff? No finding stuff off mobs and selling or anything?

I find the best advice is to judge for yourself. Asking opinions can sometimes lead you to not try/do things that you may like.

Man, I was like one of the first people in that game when it first first came out to the public.
As soon as I heard you had to pay with real money I deleted the game off my HD. lol
I played Project Entropia for free. I didnt pay a dime. But it was rather hard to do it cause theres no way to get money in that game unless you DO fork over money. BUT, there are people you can do jobs for, like sell stuff for them.
Theres also an oil rig you can go to but its in a VERY dangerous zone and you can get pked there.
I made credits by selling stuff for peeps and making a few friends.
I started to get into mining, it usually sustained me. Then I got bored and stopped playing.

I just got an email from PE the other day...
They're giving it a major overhaul, a mega patch if you will......

LOL, yes you did step into some dog sh*t.
I played that game EXTENSIVELY earlier this year, servers went up and down, lagg is HORRIBLE! You cannot walk 3-5 meters without the game jerking and hacking. They said the 5.0 bugfix was supposed to fix the serverside lag but it did not. I tried it last night and the lagg was still there, couldnt stand to play it so i turned it off after 5 minutes.
The game is technically better with better graphics and sounds (they even got a musician on the payrol), but that mean nothing when the RPG bit is noneexistant and the game lags and creatures become immortal and run (glide) away when you have 10% left to kill, thus making you loose the loot (Real cash)
The world is big, way bigger than neocron and they make new cities and stuff regularly... instead of fixing the bugs (makes us wonder: Where is DoY?)
A few months back there was a problem with stack merging (adding one pile of stuff to another pile of stuff), they still haven't fixed that or reimbursed players for it.
My advice is stay away. Sure - I am a Swedish citisen, and allthough P.E. is Swedish, i cannot recommend bad products to other players. The ONLY reason they have lots of players in it is becayse they dont ask for your creditcard, so many people walk around with the standard (ugly) orange clothes and use the game as a 3d IRC client. That and running around and get killed by animals is all you can do without caughing up cash for equipment.
Earlier i gave away all my crap to a noob who almost exploded out of joy (i.e. a nice AMP + best laser sights and a rifle) and some cash as well. Then told my friends i was moving to neocron, still waiting for a friend to show up here (he dont have a creditcard yet)

It was just a money hole.....
And recently i got this mail, that there was a massive f***up in the system, and they have now to reset all tems/money in transactions .... wonder how much RL money was exploited ....

I contributed my thoughts to the thread but contrary to what QD
said, I'm still here, alive and well.
P.E. is a game that gives you a real chance you make money via
ingame. It's a totally new idea and they are executing it quite well.
P.E. is free to try and download so give it a shot. Get used to the
dynamics and get killed alot by monsters (freebie exp) and when
you think your ready, dish out a few dollars for a pistol and ammo
to start hunting. Loot in PE is very random, good hunters make
alot of profit in PE because they know where to go, best strategy
to kill what, and what has better chances for better loot.
It's an investment, PE. It's also entertainment, remember that.
You may lose $20 in ammo but you could also gain $20 the next
day in a lucky loot or exponentionally. Somep people luck out with
$50,100,500,1000 loots. Usually big loots contain half prize cash
and a unique weapon that others don't have. Auctioning in PE is
what makes you money. Some people are rich, lets face it. They
are willing to pay alot for a weapon nobody has. This is where you
can make alot of cash. Careful though, where there is real money
there is also real theives who will try to rip you off on a sale,
(basically overcharge from the real value). You should do research
on a item before buying it, ask some experienced players for a
pricetag first!
I know a player personally who won a $1000 loot jackpot, he has
a rifle nobody ingame has and he's keeping it. He also has $20
grand worth of weapons/mods in his inventory if he cashed out,
but he probably also lost 10k in the process, again investment. He
also happens to be an expert and knows everything there is to know,
which helps alot in your chances for that lucky loot.
Everything in PE has to be purchased or given to you by other
players which is hard to find, generous players that is. It's sorta
like giving a bum on your public square some change or a $1, youll
see alot of noobs in PE begging in crowded areas for money just
to try a pistol out. I gave spared some people from neocron (fatal-
wolf, silver-wolf, cold-fuzion etc) some cash to get started, i'm
a nice guy. They payed me back from hunting w/ loot.
You start off in PE with ugly yelloy clothes, to buy new clothes you
have to get it from loot or at the shop. Some clothes are really
unique in that nobody has them, it's purely for entertainment.
The problem with PE is that if you really want to make profit, you
need to dish out atleast $200 for the best weapons that kill those
nasty creatures fast and easy. Those are the ones who have the
loot. You can take your chances with a semi decent gun for $50-75
but you might die alot or lose out on ammo which costs money.
Skill is also a factor and experience, remember that. Also, hunting
with friends makes it easier, you can hire a noob to be bait while
it chases their stupid lifeless bodies u can shoot it and give the
noob some of the loot profit. This is also how u can get money
without dishing out any.
But, it's risky of course as is with all investments. Yesterday (saterday)
I spent what, $20 for a movie for texas chainsaw massacre with
a special girl, my treat. Plus the popcorn and drinks etc, that's what, $35.
Gasoline to fill the tank, another $10, $45 now. I got home and
got a $20 bottle of jack & daniels, $65 now. Pack of smokes, $70
now. I mean, I could have saved that money and invested it into
say PE or scratch tickets for example. If you have the money to
invest, dish it out when your ready to. This game is definately not
recommended for youngsters who don't know the value of a dollar.
You can also be a craftsmen or a miner in PE. Experts make alot
of profit because they know the "hot spots" that spit out that rare
mineral that everyone needs and pays well for.
Just for the record, Mr. G ripped Fatal-Wolf for $150-200. He wanted
to see fatal's new MK sp3 weapon and he never gave it back so
be careful of theives, it's real money, make sure it's a real life friend!
Personally, I invested $150 into PE for a MK sp1, weapon attachments,
and armor. I got alot of good loots here and there ($20-50) but
nothing to make profit over, i'm a noob. I havn't logged into PE
for about 3 months now so it's probably alot better now for stability,
and lag which they improve daily. I cashed out on all my items
and got all my money back via ingame check. I might return soon
to give it another shot, I just couldn't afford to risk money during
hectic life related issues and had to discontinue playing.
So give it a shot, nothing to lose if you decide not to "invest". Your
free to make friends, explore the Huge world and get experience.
It's up to you to dish out money, you don't have to inorder to just
play and try stuff out.
Anyway, hope this helps some of you.

There are no exploits in PE, there's no random generator either.
The loot is much more complex not worth explaining.
As for lag, maybe your 56k isn't good enough..
My point, it's different for some, others maybe not (location, connection..etc)

there is other ways to gain money in project entropia also, my brother made a few short fun movies of pe which involved him begging for cash (patrique's beggar movies). And he actually got alot out of those movies.

Thats why I have always said and will keep saying : Ho's are much more cheaper way and FASTER to get sushi. You don't have to play foreplay , dating stuff. You pay for product .. and in your case, was it even sure for getting sushi? :)

Trust me you'll thank us for it. It's one big scam as I am concerned. I played it too and lost 70€.
Everything you can do requies you to pay. and something actually usefull costs you 20€ MINIMUM. then a bug comes along and byebye cash. And you can forget about a refund. Pleople were whining about this for Months up to a full YEAR ABOUT NOW. AND NOTHING HAS CHANGED. basically it has no stability and if it crashes and you lose stuff its though luck. not to mention that the admin is utter crap. I am still getting mails from them promesing better stuff. However I quit months ago. And I wont ever go back. The official forum was swamped with complaints and I think that is why the forum has been "down for maintainance" for 4 months straight now. yeah right. :mad:
Furthermore the place is swamped with kiddos seeking a quick buck. if they see you with a gun or non-starter clothes thell beg your head off. and be insulting when you dont comply. Other will scam the daylight out of you by taking your stuff if your not careful. Nothing is done about this. Absolutly nothing.
The game is one big gamble. The idea was that you could get better loot from higher mobs. However the larges rewards come from fat slow HUGE cows. which do not take effort to kill and DONT retaliate. they just walk away slowly. someone made 3000 USD this way. So much for balance.
And as I said Lag is the worst. it will timeout often and kick you. and missing mobs because of lag is normal. and you pay for ammo.
So trust me, don't go there unless you want to feel f*cked over
oh and for the equasion: 150 USD is one and a half year of Neocron for me. Rather wait that long for DoY than play PE again.

Well I understand what your saying, but I only have one love,
and she's been with me for 2 years now. As for sushi, I get that
everynight and after the movies on saterday, a little jack & daniels
with some sushi and umm stuffed clams ;)

I played for 3 months and never lost a penny due to crashes or
lag. There will be lag sometimes, I never crashed so it's something
some people will experience but not everyone. As for you losing
your money, that's your problem. I never lost money, well never
lost money I couldn't regain through auctioning items and from

Are you refering to my DSL line in my quite fast computer that sit on the same bloody Telianetwork as the Geoservers ? If you dont know anything about lagg please do make comments about it, i'm not the only Network programmer/Technician (hint) who have told Mindark wtf is causing lagg. (Sanctus please step in)
Lagg is Serverwize, lagg is Networkwize and lagg is Clientwize - they still wont get it even if you would dump a sh*tload of programming manuals on their heads. They fiddle with the server and buy more bandwidth and expect everything to be ok.
Their so called "quality expert" say "we have no lag on the servers here" - Well Duuh?!?!? If they took time playing the damn game instead of "testing it" they would learn a few things about it.
I showed PE to a friend today, and today with the latest patch, it still laggs... wondering why i subscribed to Neocron?

I tested it along time ago, think it was very early beta, but free open sub for all.. It sucked like hell, didn't get a clue of anything, bored in a hour.

wasting my time with the chit chat. The lag is your problem, your
ISP, your location...whatever.. doesn't mean everyone else will

I'm not wasting your time, i'm SAVING everyone elses time. You see, i remember a poll (was it stratics?) saying that people who was not affected by lagg much was a minority. If u get little or no lagg in PE is probably because you are standing still working as a salesman. Try hunting for a change.
It's not fun getting attacked by a dead mob, it's not fun to watch a nearly dead mob become immortal and kill you and/or run away. It's not fun when the game freeze up when you are near mobs you normally can outrun and when the game delagg - you are dead.
(Intresting is that stuff like that is scriptable in the game engine.)
Do you really want to PvP in that kind of game with real money? I wont.
As for Neocron, i get almost ZERO lag, and i'm NOT EVEN ON THE SAME NETWORK(!); Reakktor know how to decrease lagg, Mindark does not.
But sure, try PE people.. waste your time and money. If you encounter a bug and loose money in PE - good luck getting your money back you lost on it.

I have no ETA on this, though. It is a great amount of logs and database records that needs to be verified and cross-checked, thus it takes a lot of time. Please bear with us on this.
I haven't seen any reimbursement yet and it have been over 8 months since that happened. And i dont expect reimbursement either.
(Telling me to "be quiet" usually has the opposite effect on me, especially when some uninformed nontechnical person try to beat down on me when i know what the f*ck i'm talking about.)

Ahhh, I didn't and so did a lot of others I know. In case you did not notice it gives you a big whopping warning when depositing cash. it says no refund for money lost to bugs. I raised hell about that message on the boards there.

As was said we are trying to save people the screwed over feeling. We got it and did not like it. A fair warning as it were. And we get pissed off when someone then comes along and calls us liars whiel we know we are right
and I have a cable connection, Im located in Europe and my PC is WAY up to specs. yet PE crashed and lagged all over. The promise you quoted was made somewhere around May 2002 I think. And its still not furfilled. Lag in PE is definately serverside. Otherwise I suggest you talk to the 300 or so other people who are compaining about that in PE. But I guess you think they all have 56K modems???

There is a reason so many ex-PE players hate it though. Think about that.

I retire my subscription to both threads now as this one has 2

thread started fine, then the AOL'ers come out of no where like
roaches ;)

two sides to every story and I'm just letting my side be heard.

He's one of those people who would like to appear smart by calling other people names, when in fact he doesnt know anything about it, therefore he do the belitteling thing by calling people names or looking for spelling errors in our statements - that's all he can attack - i bet he is one of those weak individuals who PK noobs in the aggies, then stealth away when the cavallery comes.
I played Project Entropia, hunting was always a pain in the ass for me (LAG LAG LAG LAG LAG)
So i went to mining. I had the money to buy the advanced equipment that you can buy in the game and not from players.
armor = 20 PED
weapon = 25 PED (I think)
(the green armor and the brown laser rifle)
I had the money to buy the MD-20 Mining tool (the 2nd worst tool out of 4 tools that detect mineral resources)

I've had days where I find almost nothing in mining. I've had days where I made tons of money. Fortunatly I had a friend that was a seller, another that was a crafter, and another that was a very experienced miner. So I recieved helped financially from them when mining wasnt being so nice.
I sold stuff for the seller to make little sums of profit.
I sold stuff for the crafter to make little sums of profit.
I got some help from the miner on good mining spots.
There is also a trivia that was going on in that game when I played it where each question answered right got you 5 PED while the last one usually involved 10 PED and an item or items.
I was even able to buy the crappiest of the big black rifles (I dont know their names) which was 45 PEDs (4.50 dollars US)
Had to sell it latter when mining wasnt very nice to me.
One of the bad things about that game is the cost for repairing items, its quite expensive to repair items in that game.
The game just eventually got boring for me.
BTW, I never payed a single penny into that game.
No lag for me.

looking back at them and reading them makes me laugh...I never
called anyone an AOL'er before, it's those blasted AOL 9.0 optimized
commercials on tv every other minute, they're brainwashing us
all! But seriously, I had some rage in me from an incident that
happened long ago around PE which had an influence on my
posts which I always try to avoid when posting.
Again, people. Just try PE and if you don't like it uninstall it.. If you
like it enough to put money into it, then go for it. As with everything
in life though, there are risks so play it safe.

OK, here's some up to date information for everyone regarding Project Entropia:
I just finished playing PE for about 2 months after having put $20 USD into it. This game is nothing but a scam. This latest Version Update (5.2) totally screwed over crafters (removed all their made components and blueprints, replacing them with ore and new blueprints) by removing all of the electrical/metal and mechanical components so that any moron can craft an item now. They "tweaked" the entire crafting system so that you fail more often than ever before. MA also duplicated every item in the game with a "craftable" version so that both the item and ore markets are now flooded with crap, not to mention ppl who dealt in blueprints now have a worthless stock. I said, Ill give this VU the benefit of the doubt and keep playing, maybe theres something worth it to all this.
Answer: Dont even look at Project Entropia, any money you put into the game will be taken by MA, laughingly. There is incredible lag now with shitty connection when you do connect. Had a CTD yesterday with a msg saying servers are FULL, please try later.
Finally: The whole loot system is based off how much money you put into the game. All those ppl you see (if you play) who get those huge jackpot kills actually dump $50-$100 USD into the game each day. If you dont put money in, MA will bleed you until you HAVE to put some in to play. Their auction system is a joke too, it now charges to list an item, which is non-refundable, even if you remove the auction to sell a different one. Seems like MA is setting themselves up for a fraud and/or embezzlement lawsuit.

Actually, the government may be looking into them for some compleatly different reason, its online gambling and the lottery inspection dont like that.
That was the same reason VISA did not accept payments to them.
BTW I found an old screenie lost on my webspace. Its the message that you get when you make a deposit. As I said earlier this basically tells you that there will be no refund due to lost stuff by bugs.
