Herlo again :)

Anyways, Just read ZoneVortex's thread and rememberd back to when my nephew tried playing neocron... Now he may only be 14 but he aint stupid, he can jump right into games liek Deus Ex and the FinalFantasy games, yet he couldnt do shit in neocron as there was NOTHING that explains shit, anyways, just looked through the NC manual  for the first time in months and well... its absolutely laughable, was this made for beta 2 or something ? o_O

Anyway, im gonna rewrite the manual for KK... Just wonderd if theres any smartasses out there than have Quark or some other kinda dtp proggy and would wanna work on this with me :) ill work on the blurb and stuff and you can do the layout and appearance. The one thing in the NC manual that is of any use atall IMO is the hacking guide, and thats it.

Please only reply if your serious about doing this. Either rewriting the manual or ill do a webpage in the style of the NC homepage (with permission) And give it to KK to upload to the site, so that newbs who come to the site will have a decent online manual, step by step, in newb language so they understand wtf they are doing

Comments please :)

Check my sig for ideas :D

I'm thinking about turning it into a webpage though, might be nice to have more than one person working on it then ;)

Well what im gonna do is put the sub skill guides into layman's terms... IMO everything related to NC is currently set out for the people that kinda know what they are doing.
A explanation on why to get your weapons rebuilt, Hunting spot's, Explanation of specialisation etc. Differences between APU and PPU and why not to go hybrid o_O etc etc
Other things is like how NPC's work, what are epics, what are clans for, Outposts, StockX, Missions etc etc, gonna take some work and some time but im gonna have a proper go at it, just need a way of decently presenting it...

Pretty much everything one would like to know are allready in the noob forum. Why bother trying to make a manual? You wont be able to cover everything without making it unreadable for someone not playing nc... and you won't have the energy. No way... :)

Im at a PC all day talking to fucktards who dont know how to use their PC's, I can put quantum physics into laymens terms so that even hinch could understand it... Plus ive got the time to do it as all I do is piss about at wirk all day, then go home and play NC ... great life eh
Not everyone things ''oh shit, what the hell do i do now im ingame, i know, off to the newb forums'' o_O nah they ether check the manual with the game or an online manual at the games website, thats what they need IMO, There are others about that are good but, well, I just wanna do one :D :)

Look, I have nothing against explaining the game - no, I think it's a great idea, but I really don't like the idea of you just giving away info about hunting spots and those things...

I'd much rather that they actually GO ingame and chat up people.
The game itself isn't the only thing that draws in the people - it's the community. If you give out every bit of info about ingame, then the community dies bit by bit as players choose to look on game info sites rather than talk to other players.

Pork has a point. Give them the info they need to play and be specific, but dont' get in-depth into powerleveling spots, quick shortcuts for pa quests, etc....

Im not gonna do it like that, more so reccomended spots. Im not gonna give a step by step of capping your char, more like:

Good hunting spots:

Gabanium mine : Warbots/DecayedBrutes&Horrors
Cycrow : Fire mobs and Outdoor Caves lvl 3

That kinda shit.

General info on why to get your gun rebuilt, how specialisation works, MC5 tips, how missions work, GR's Venturewarp etc etc did I not state that above?

Oh, no, no - no specific spots.

More like... " Giant lizard-like beasts are commonly found in the steppes" or "Beware of the area around the Military Base, giant machines walk the lands there" or "Dangerous beasts that can breathe fire breed in the canyon area"

That way, you get an idea of the mobs in a given area, but you still gotta ask about where they are or have to actually look for them instead of "Yo man, can you take me to this Gabanium place - I heard it rox for lewt?"

If you need any help let me know.

I've been trying to write a guide for a couple of weeks now.

It is like a Tourist/new resident guide to neocron city in the style of the Rough Guide books. I'm doing maps of all the main buildings in the style of the RPOS maps, and I've writen guides to everything from sewers, to where to eat out ;) It is going to take me quite a long time to finish as it is already 20+ pages long and I haven't touched Outzone or Pepper Park.

I'd be willing to lend a hand and all. Hell, a postage stamp with "keep the LE in" written on the back would be a better manual than the one that came with the game. That said, I wouldn't throw away the storylining. I found that part of the book to be actually quite entertaining.

Actually, to what Porker says about not being specifice, personally I'd say be specific to a point. Giving grid references and such like. Either way we're going to get people talking the way he's saying. If people are looking for information they want answers, not vague mystic mumbo jumbo. I know, I'm guilty of it myself. Visiting Allakahzam.com everytime I wanted to know something in Everquest or DAoC (and Anarchy Online too come to think of it....)

Hell what I'd really like to see is something along the lines of the "Gogo users guide to the 28th century" listing every gogo in the game and where it is. Gogo's really do dictate hunting spots in my experiance.

oh, btw - is graphics going to be a big part in this guide?

Because it'd be interesting to see item gfxs as you talk about things... like "THIS is a poke tool", "THAT's a PSI Glove", "The swirly - see here - is when you know it's a rare weapon" etc.
