Looks like PE got hacked in a similar way to the way Neocron was.
I got an Email from PE support today.
I only played PE for about 20 minutes, laughed, and uninstalled it, btw....

This is the Email:
Recently, there have been reports of the distribution of third-party software claiming to enhance the performance of Project Entropia.

This software, which was called PE-Tool, is a virus designed to obtain the usernames and passwords of Project Entropia participants.

We remind you to never trust third-party applications of any kind. The installation and usage of such software can result in your Project Entropia account being permanently suspended, as is stated in the Project Entropia Rules of Conduct.

Be sure to protect your Project Entropia username and password by never sharing it with any other individual.

MindArk PE AB cannot take responsibility for any losses incurred in the event a third party should violate your account.

From now and in the future, MindArk will never ask you for your password for any reason whatsoever.

We wish you good luck and happy hunting in Project Entropia.

Regards,

Project Entropia Support

only problem with PE is that they use actual money and actual creditcard/banking info inorder to buy weps/armor/ammo ect. Must suck for those who fell for it, or maybe they deserve it for being so nieve o_O

Yes but Neocron IS hacked, its nothing to do with that ONE program that had a keylogger in it, there are exploits still within Neocron that allow the stealing of passwords.

They know...and they are watching o_O

No but really, they do know whats going on, KK is not as clueless as some people think, they just tend to lie and act very very slow untell the last possible time before they fix things.

I still think its funny how people think they can get away with hacking in a MMORPG, the company who owns the servers WILL notice and eventually you WILL get in trouble for it. Unlike a FPS everything is logged.

ahh.. project entropia.

I played it for a couple weeks, put money into it. ( got the money
back through the cc company ;) ) But it's just one big fraud. You
need the best weapon in the game to kill the hard mobs just to
pay for the ammo you used with a bit of luck for a new gun in the
loot to sell.

Some of them that are popular got that lucky $1000 loot and made
profit from their inventory still today, i was talking to a veteran
who said if he cashed out his weapons, he'd have 20k.

Again, luck + bribery + deceit = PE.

Dealing with real money brings the real world criminals into the
game, it's nothing like RP. People over sell sucky weapons to
make profit.

Then their is miners who randomly search the land for expensive
minerals. Some of them know the hot spots that took months of
practice to learn, i'm sure they made up for all the money the
lost in the process. Hell their are people willing to train people how
to mine and where for a fee, $5/hour. No shit.

It's a new idea, but to really make profit in the game you need
luck, practice and to tell yourself it's an investment, you may lose
it just like at a casino.

If i didn't get a refund, i would have lost $320, not as bad as
FaTaL-WoLf who got ripped off by Mr. G, both quit neocron a while
ago. FaTaL bought the best gun in the game for $500, Mr. G
asked to use it, he ran. Damn loser G.

I find it incredible that people pick their nose and eat it's contents,
actually I find it appalling but people do things that some don't
or wouldn't. That's what seperates humans from animals and
animals from robots.

wondered what was causing all those wars :(

still using actual cash in a game is pretty daft you must admit, the example you gave of that chap losing a gun worth $500, illustrates that point quite eloquently :)

Not much different from going to a casino and losing 5-10grand or
if you have an addiction, your house and car and children. In both
circumstances you take a risk (gamble).

Of course what happened to that poor bloke, chap, guy is sorta
like a real life mugging after leaving the casino :)

Dunno why, but this amused the hell out of me

I'm expect to see something similar turn up in a Microsoft Code of Conduct very soon :D
