This month's PC Zone has 3 pages on Neocron!!!! There's a 2 page guide to the game which is very basic but good coverage for the game apart from the "Take out the LE chip as soon as possible... because of the XP loss" (KK sort it out PLEASE!!!).
There is also the monthly Neverquest section all devoted to Neocron- this is normally a bit funny.

Starts in MC5: "Three dead crabs later and the tedium is setting in"

Eventually leaves after dying lots: "Outrageously I am stung for 1000 credits to get back to my pad. Should have just got a black cab".

It's just poking fun really, but the guy is obviously a bit confused with MC5. Happily he escapes and finds the Pussy Club: "A porker in a girdle and a dead-eyed slapper wearing a bit of string".

Heads over to Club Veronique but the bouncers ask him to leave: "I head outside where a street fight is taking place between a man in a pinstripe suit and hooded character with a lightsaber"

Its pretty funny. The game comes across well, and you should have a read.

Stupid fucking corner store near me hasn't got it in stock yet.... I have been waiting for them to do the nerverquest for Neocron.... oh man now a doubly good reason to get the mag.

Also have you noticed that Neocron is their 3rd best MMORPG.

Yeah they love it!

I subscribe so maybe I got it a day early or something?? It's good to see the coverage... they mentioned Dome of York in there ages ago!

I feel like I've done something wrong, I'm busy reading the Homeworld 2 review in PC Gamer. :p

The guide thing is two pages, its basically 10 basic tips for the game for total newbies. With a few basic piccies we've all seen before.

Quite a lot of good stuff in it this month. There is a concept drawing for one of the enemy soldiers in Half Life 2... and it is EXACTLY what Spy PA should look like (female) - its on page 39 btw.

Will have to check if its the UK PCzone or not, but I remember that back in Jan this year, issue 124, they gave it a pretty favourable review, 85% in PCzone, with the comment "A great start for a great online RPG" is a pretty big score in PCzone
They dont usually suffer fools gladly and let u know if a game is shite :D

I disagree. I don't buy UK PC games magazine anymore on the basis that I feel they're biased and that they regard 70% as the score for an average game. That and on their advice I've bought several games I truly despised that they claimed were awesome games. "The Thing" comes to mind.

Plus, now I've got ADSL I can reasonably download any demo I want to play, thus I don't need the cover CD. Ah well. Nice to see Neocron getting some coverage, although it would be best if it came with a free trial of Neocron as well (does it? I can't remember seeing any mention in the topic about it)

That's what I used to think when I read PC Zone. I started reading PC Gamer and I agreed with their reviews a lot more, games I loved scored highly, games I liked but didn't play for too long usually scored about 70%, games I hated scored lower.

To quote:

[b]70%-79%-/b]
Games with scores in the 70s are good games. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Such games will offer much entertainment to anyone who buys them, and should at least be considered by fans of the genre. They lack the polish or inspiration of higher scoring games, and perhaps flawed in several aspects, but their positive factors definitely win out.

Recent examples: Tropico 2: Pirate Cove 76%, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 75%.

That sounds fair to me, and that's why I read it.

i like pc gamer although it is a shadow of its former glory, it used to be an excellant read with a great range of topics but its shrunk and still costs as much if not more if you take into consideration the dvd edition :(

i would tend to agree although they gave black and white something like 89% which i think was a total pile of chudder

Yeah there is the occasional one like that. I think that was one of those games where it's hyped up so much, and the previews they do are really positive, and they can't believe how it comes out. :p

I have to say they've pretty much stopped doing that, e.g. Jedi Academy scores 70%, Tron 2.0, despite all the hype, manages a great-but-not-the-best 80%.

Anybody care to scan the 3 pages and put them on a webpage for us to read?? that'd be nice, thanks =)
