View Full Version : Psychedelic Neocron...:S
HELP! [Pix to come soon when digi-kam works] my Neocron has been back dated to the era of the swinging 60's :S i took some screenies, but they have come up looking normal(hence the use of digi-kam) i re-installed NC, reinstalled gfx drivers using the latest. am running 750duron, XP Pro, 256Mb ram, 64Mb MX440, any other suggestions to help cure it? :S

Have you recently been changing graphical options on either the drivers of your graphics card or in Neocron? As those two are the most likely problems.
Also, if you've run Windows Update recently, definitely try and check if re-installing drivers fixes the problem; I've had problems with the 'proper' drivers from Windows for my graphics card before (Problems being: stuck at 640x480 resolution, 16 colours, etc.).

And replace it with what exactly? Dos? I mean XP is better than any version of ME or 2000, and 95 and 98 are both way to old, and 98 starts to become worse than XP if you've had it installed for any more than a few months! IMO 95 was the greatest version of windows ever made. It's just too old and most new stuff generally has problems with it.. :(
Link me to any OS that you reccomend, because at the moment I am using the windows 98 "lets keep wiping my hard drive" teknique.

if it didnt come out in the screenshot then you need to check for EMI near your monitor .. magnets in speakers, water pumps and fans can do the same
I had the same problems.. It was the graphics options that where way off (saturation, gamme, brightness) U need to tweak them down.. Does take some time :[

i would advise 2k, as it is much more suited to me and my system.
if you must have XP, make sure its xp pro, or you are a complete n00b.

i have done some testing with thanks to PIMP on pluto, and playing windowed, works work, but as per normal, i get these, have a gander :)

im not spamming, admitantly this post fell to the 3rd page, but since im updating it with better information for disscussion, then i dont think it is classed as spam. :)
I know what your problem is. It's easy to fix. Turn the colours down from True Colour to High Colour. :p

[EDIT] Wait I might be wrong actually. Try it anyway, i know there is one graphical problem with True Colour on some machines but your first screenshot dousn't look like that problem.:(
ooooh, thats the same problem a friend of mine had, we found that the problem had something to do with the Bios version (I can't remember where we got that info from) so we ran the update, unfortunatly we suffered a power cut (What are the chances :confused: ) and the update was only half way through, at least now we no longer get THAT problem, hell we no longer get anything on that PC :(

I had the same problem on my old gfx card, basically it was fine then the PC crashed, restarted, loaded up TFC again and wham im in the 60's. basically my card was fucked, only for TFC tho o_O get your card replaced onw arranty, will most likely sort it :)

Considering it works fine windowed but does this when full screen, I'd say it might be DirectX at fault. I'd try upgrading to (or reinstalling if you're already running) DX 9.0.

cant change on warranty......coz a mate gave it to me :D for free lol :P coz he bought mmmm an FX5200 i think....... :/ lol, anyway, bout the DX9 idea thingy,

Last time I seen an effect like that was went the gfx card was overheating.. and the fact it doesn't show up on screenshots would suggest that it's not game related.. got a spare gfx card you can throw in to test?
ok, re-installation of DX9 and reboot did nothing. and as it happens already had DX9 on there :)

reagrding gfx card over heatin......im sure it aint this, since all other games work fine aaaaand, in windowed mode for neocron also works fine. and no, i dont have a spare gfx card lol :D

i can play HL + all mods no problem, NFS Porshe unlimited, mmmmm Theme Hospital :p:p:p:p unreal tourny, evn freelancer! and they is all ok....only Neocron in fullscreen mode :(

highly possible the capacitors or ram on your gfx are dead if so send it back !
or your just a noob and did some 'tweaking' with your drivers

The screenshot's look normal, but somewhere between drawing it and displaying it its gone potty. thats why he needed the camera

Yeh but remember (assuming you read the first post) that the screenies dont show the graphical error? The error in this case seems to be at a level somwhere bewteen the card / drivers and the game... when the screenies are taken they take them from the buffer before they are passed to the graphics card.. and therfore before the problem manifests itself...
