i would like to know if the doy addon is an addon addon,
which is intergrated into the current neocron folder or a stand alone addon.

also(and this will be long)
i have seen pics of doy.
from what i see the poly count is higher than in nc.

so the engine must be an updated version of the nc engine.

i think this because i dont think that the nc engine would be able to handle it as it is.

so this got me thinking.

would it be possible to transfer the current nc engne for the updated doy engne?.

the bsp's artwork audio and data file's will more than likely be the same as being used in doy(same type i mean,same encoding).
so intergrating the doy engine should be possible.
right?

there was a program included with the build tools
(the build tools where used for editing duke 3d just incase you didn't know)
also included was a program called errr..
wad2map and wadtoart
these changed doom maps and art into a compatible format for dn3d to use.

so my idea is not so far fetched.

Doy = addon addon, you download and install, its then a new NC city.

The texture's used in DoY are just higher res than in NC, and will be there in DoY, but KK dont plan on updating normal NC texture's as of yet.

The public name (people who may have heard of it, but have not really played it) Neocron is known as a buggy MMORPG, my prediction is that when DoY comes out your not gona hear the name Neocron very much anymore, its gona be marketed as "DOME OF YORK!" its already said that the DoY texture rez is alot higher, while they are not upgrading Neocron/MB/TH/Canyon.

Anyways back to my conspiracies, I think KK is gona market Neocron no longer as Neocron but as DoY example "DOWNLOAD DoY!" and not "Download Neocron: DoY!"

....well thats about it....im hungry....

i don't care about makong the textures any better.

im talking about ripping the current nc engine out and replacing it with the updated doy engine.

absolutly nowt changes.

we just have a more efficiant engine:)

which might also have some new features

partical effects and better lighting.

ok, bear with me now

since it is updated and more efficent then we should not experiance the "chopy-ness" we experiance when plaza has a few people in it.

and the same for the waste lands.

eg.

play oh hell err a generic fps(fps,that doesent matter 3rd 4th person whateva,all boils down to same thing)with say,32 players on a lan(hypo thetical now)lets just remove lag from this convo.

so no lag 32 players.
on my pc showing this many players at one time, i dont think it would cause the "choppy" effect

so realy in nc we should not experiance "choppy"
(with the doy engne)
(if kk has doen a good job)

eg.2
any delta force game.
same as above
i would not expearince "choppy" with 32 peeps(not inc lag)
so why do we get "choppy" in nc?:confused:

There is no such thing as DOY.

the NC engine and the DoY engine are the same Engine, just DoY has higher textures, so if your system isnt upto it, u'll get choppy frame rates.

Turn your veg detail (in F11) way down
Turn your D3D settings in your video card, upto Maximum.

NC will run better, the choppiness though, happens on DSL systems in zones with just one person, it is the old outdated engine, nothing to do with bandwith/lag.

This is t he thing that really bugs me......


They already have low res Neocron Textures. Why can't they make Low-High rez textures an option? Is it really _that_ hard to do? Okay so the game will be sold on more than 2 discs, but so what? Cd's cost about 50p. I am sure it won't effect profit too much... And why can't they use some tool to automaticly lower the quality of the textues in DOY, and make that an option aswell?????????????

well in build u could scale the textures.
soo all kk or some clever dick who can make a prog that does it for u has to do is create a prog,
that scales *all* the textures in the game(not inc waste land)
by a factor of erm 4?

Nope, Large amount of the DoY pictures are photoshopped that is why it seems like it has things like dynamic lighting and such.

DOY is a myth, like loch ness, santa, Easter Bunny. Everyone know someone who slept with them (Brave people) but no one has ever seen the real thing ... POWER TO DOY

Hmm DoY ?

Well I think they are trapped in noob MC5 area and cant get out like the rest of the noobs... So plz help the devs to guide them to the nearest GR so they can release the addon :D
