now i need a lill info on firewalls....

me and my bro are on a network, i have the DSL on my pc and he needs my pc to be on for him to access the internet, BUT wen i put a firewall on my pc he cant get online (dunnow why)

so

i need a way to have a firewall up and let him acess the internet???


can anyone sugest a good firewall and how to set it up right??

Karma did come around for one of those makers of a variation of the Blaster virus. :D Hes gonna go to trial and probably get 10 years in prison and up to a 250,000 dollar fine. Hes currently in house arrest at his home. Yipee!

Some (actually... it's MOST) decent firewalls dont support ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). Look through some online documentation before you download/install a firewall. I know there are some decent firewalls out there that support it... cant remember it's name though... sorry (go to www.downloads.com and search for "firewall".. you'll get plenty of hits).

Better sollution: get yourself a router. Its not that expensive and your brother can use internet without your pc being online.

About the virusses: keep your PC up to date at all times (windowsupdate.microsoft.com -> critical patches). And when you download something (mainly small .exe files) and you dont know if it's safe (distributed through Kazaa for example), use http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ to check it first!

i have a router......

but (theres allways a but)

i donnt think my modem will take it cos my modem goes from phone line to pc (1 phone conector and 1 usb)

and my router needs an input(modem) then sends it to the outputs so my pc still neds to be on :'(


aughh getin confused now!!!
