View Full Version : Northstar/Reakktor GC today...Doy?
I think i remember hearing that KK were going to the german GC today, teamed with Northstar (i belive a co-operation of German companies showing off products...) oh and CDV are there!
just wondering how its going? is it being spammed by nerds! lol or did they manage to show DOY? (if they can)
wait till after 20:00 gmt when all the germans get home from the show since it appears 90% of the german players went with as many cameras and mem cards as they can find expect to see some stuff sometime tonight
look here:
http://neocron.jafc.de/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72740
but don't expect infos - remember that this is KK ... :(
would you mind translating for the people that dont speak german from what i understand it appers the thread starter is complaiing that kk forgot it was a consumer show and not a trade show as they only brought doy on a laptop and didnt do any kinda big display about it etc
lmao - only KK can do that.........
Short Version:
if u work by the Press u can go behind the Tables and take a look on the DoY Notebook.
If u only a shabby Player u can wait and go home :(

from what i understood it was a show aimed at players though not just press. so surely they should have been hyping the game up for the public in an attempt to get more players.
i mean look how much hype valve and bungie put into the HL2 and H2 displays at e3 we spent a fking fortune on it. There was a press conference but it was happily a mixed one KK should be doing the same thing with nc
np :)
On the Picture its not a Player its a KK Employed.
they have a seat, 2 little boxes and a laptop.........
and people wonder why nobody knows about KK.
yup its thanos not even mjs
mjs is likley busy buying himself a new car/boat/plane/country to be at the GC.

kinda interesting
According to Daishi,Vice Chiefgamemaster that KK mitarbeiter is Thanatos
Was thantos the only KK representative there? I mean there is a laptop and two boxes.... there doesn't appear to be much else. Thantos doesn't exactly look thrilled to be there either :p
he is bored about doy. if u test it for allmost halt a year there is noting special about it :P:lol:
Hey... that guy in the German thread with the SWG > NC sig... his AT-AT image is 104 pixels high! Moderate the sucker! That'll server him right for spreading the lie of SWG > NC! ;)
So does these companies banding together mean they are going to publish themselves now or what?

ok i checked:
Northstar (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.golem.de%2F0307%2F26551.html&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools)
Union of north German team
In the USA there is a whole set of groupings, in which several play developers united. Faithfully the American model there is a similar co-operation of developer teams under the name "NorthStar Developers" now also in Germany.
Psychotoxic
Ingsesamt belong to nine teams the new group, among them names already established like the 4head of studios (the gilde) and Reakktor Media (Neocron), in addition, Newcomer as for instance the Nuclearvision working on the Mystik Shooter Psycotoxic.
A goal of the NorthStar Developers is it among other things to improve the acceptance of maintenance software in the public and to open new financing ways for the play development. On in August the Games Convention taking place in Leipzig want to present itself the new group for the first time publicly.
So does anyone know if any press actually went and looked at DoY? And if there are going to be any articles about it?
man, selbst Nord-Korea hat bessere aussenpolitik als KK
was something I read in the german thread meaning:
Man, north korea itself has better public relations than kk.
Or something like that. I know its not the exact meaing but it doesn't exactly translate.
But ture though

Hahahahahahah so true.
It would be nice to have an official responce from KK about what they showcased there and some official pictures and that sort of stuff. Just so we can be sure we didn't just dream it in a DoY deprivation induced slumber.

Now its to early to get the full story of KK and DoY.

Not really hinch. E3 is the show, GC wants to be one and claims to be one, but there is still a way to go - at least from the point of view of the gaming industry.
GC is mostly used for meetings within the business, only few publishers/developers are showing really off. No real new announcements or titles - they happened on E3 or are waiting for the next E3. GC is new, it needs time to became an accepted customer show.
One man with a notebook basically is all that you need to show a game to press and publishers.

hahah he says it all.
Anyway... "Day 2 in the big broth.....In the GC house, and KK have decided to turn up"
woo...
As Lucjan said this is primarly a B2B conference, so no reason to use a lot of hype. I will just love to see DoY getting out soon ;)

I don't think GC has any real chance of beating E3, at least for quite some time. Firstly, German development houses don't have giant names across the world that everyone recognizes. (Outside of Reakktor and 4Head, I can't think of any). What I think GC's more interested in is attracting business investment into projects. When it comes to Neptune for instance I doubt our measly 10 bucks a month are going to buy it.
I'd consider it a show tailored exclusively for the German market, since at the moment E.C.T.S. in London is pretty much the European E3. Okay it's nowhere near as popular as E3 and very few people bother to announce anything there, but it's pretty big.

Question, wouldn't this Northstar be something similar to the American Gathering of Developers (GOD Games)? At least that's the parralel I immediately draw.

That game fcukin rocks :p
read mah sig.... omni speaks wise words :p
Bluebyte were German? Hmm, well to be honest I haven't seen a game from them in quite some time... pitty really. They did Battle Isle too didn't they? Think I've got Incubation knocking about. Egosoft, I should headbutt the wall for forgetting.... Hell I only just reinstalled X Beyond the Frontier again on my system. Pirahna bites, I think I've heard about but don't know what they did. Don't know anything about the other two off hand I'm afraid.
But thanks anyhow for the enlightenment. Much appreciated, was doing a grave injustice to the German games industry there.... 8|
