whats a Subscribed Thread?

just wondering i saw it in my profile.

if you are subscribed to a thread, when someone replies to it, you will receive an email notification saying that someone has replied to it. Quite annoying if you ask me.

I subscribed to a thread ages ago and can't find out how to unsubscribe.

You don't get auto subscribed, or I don't anyway.

you do get auto subscribed, there is a tick box with

Email Notification: emails sent to you whenever someone replies. Only registered users are eligible.
its a normal action for me now; finish text, untick the box, submit reply

Go to "Edit Options" in your profile, and there's an option for "Use e-mail notification by default".

Set this option to "no". :)
