His monitor is on top of a stereo reciever and his VCR is built into the little TV on the left.., or am I missing something?

I will refrain from posting all the bottlenecks and limits Dell puts on the machine, but I will say, it isn't just ram.
Compare the specs and prices and take note of the quality parts that ibuypower has. I have heard from MANY people that Dell's computers are 30% slower than a normal computers. As in, a 2.4 Ghz is 30% slower on a Dell than it would be on a computer with a quality motherboard. I assume Dell does that to make the computers run more stable to TRY and compensate for a crappy motherboard

Ibuypower clearly wins. I would consider them the next best thing to building one yourself.

EDIT: I also overcloacked my dell from 2.6 to 2.9 as well as tweaked the graphics card a little. Runs really good

My vcr is part of my setup too but it's on the floor under my desk instead of ontop, it doubles as a foot rest.
my vcr is built into my tv... thats my 600 watt amp my monitors sitting on
EDIT: and ... those were the only speaker stands I could find and theres no way in hell im paying for real ones :D (I need the stands becuase the left speaker interfears with the TV)

Overclocked your Dell? What did you do... get a new motherboard? I didn't think it was possible to overclock dell with some limiter or whatever they have on the motherboards. Did you get a new motherboard? If so, its no longer a Dell...
Actually, I read a tutorial on disabling its over clock protection features... then did it :rolleyes:

dells are perfectly easy to overclock all aspects of it you just gotta know how to get past their protection shit n stuff

I'm currently waiting for a software to be completed that let's you share mouse and keyboard between Mac OSX and Windows. There exist like Windows-Window, Unix-Unix, Unix-Windows, but no OSX-Windows.
With some luck it will be completed soon. It's in the works :p

I used to have a mini fridge hooked up to my watercooling setup...it was nice. Loud, and made my room kinda warm, but my computer was nice and cool
and my M key is messing up. I have to hit it really hard to make it work. akes typing win web addresses fun. "www.cnn.co"

god the solution of having to go upstairs is get pizza shop on speed dial like me with a perminant sign on door saying where you are for them to bring it to your chair :p

I have tried everything, trust me :p
If I export X, the only windows that are gonna use the shared mouse and keyboard, are the X windows. Normal OS X windows aren't X windows.
So I need a X server running, and the sharing would only work if the server is "on top" in the GUI, since I cannot share keyboard and mouse between the X server and the OSX window server - i.e if I click on a normal OSX window, the X server/WM is put in te background.
EDIT: I did even try doing a sharing program of my own, but I can't do that in windows (read I wont), so I need to use VNC for the windows part and haxx0ring with the vnc protocol isn't really my idea of evening fun :p
come to think of it... the box im talking about was multy platform supporting both windows and mac...
terminal services on windows machines using rdp client off linux with vnc or symbian running on osx if you cant work out exporting the osxX (which the mac gui is X based just getting to it is hastle)

I didn't follow you the whole way through there :p
I do want the automatic switching when "leaving" the OSX screen with the mouse on the right (or any other screen edge), so the mouse "enters" the Windows screen (and the other way around).
The program x2vnc does this really good for a X-VNC setup.
I also have a dual-head setup on the mac and that does pose some problems :p

I just want to clear something up about Dell, The systems themselves aren't that bad, however customer service and Tech Support can suck. Anyone here who owns a Dell can contact Tech Support or Customer Care and get Indians, yes, TRUE Indians, from India...
I am from Extended Services at Dell, working on the warrenties, and you wouldn't believe the shit I see....

Id like to see alienware with "Next day onsite repairs" now thats service, my father is leasing a dell laptop, when he gets a smuge on his screen he calls dell and the next day some1 comes 2 his office and gives him a new screen...
my brother is also leasing a laptop, his headphone jack into the motherboard was lose... one call to dell the next day they changed his motherboard
... of course my dell has no warrenty becuase i overcloacked it :rolleyes:

Here's how it is.... all Dell Computers come with a factory warrenty of 1 year. That's the standard warrenty, which covers against Manufacturer Defects and Normal Wear and Tear on the hardware, (nothing cosmetic).
The Complete Care package covers the hardware for all listed above including Lightning Damage and Accidental Damage. Both warrenties can't cover Intentional Damage, Fire Damage or Theft.
You're not actually getting people from Dell. They were either from Banctec or Qualxer. Dell Computers outsources like a mother, that's why there is Indian Tech Support and Customer care.
I urge you to try calling Tech Support or Customer care during the evening here, that will be morning time for India, and you will see the horror.
Complete Care rocks, and On Site repair is obviously worth it....
And about that Smudge, it was something bigger than that, because cosmetic defects or damage, (outside of the customer care period which is 30 days) they won't come out to give you a new screen. Unless it was a bit more damaged accidentally under complete care.

EDIT: it was a smear in the display not just on the screen, from the little mouse mover deley on the keyboard left an imprint (twice hes on his thired screen)

Nah, not dabbled with water cooling in quite a few years, my system has a Prometeia compressor cooler which results in the CPU operating at sub-zero temperatures. UPS is always a good idea, like you I have opted for a UPS, I went with an APC Smart-UPS XL.
Dump your water cooling dude and go grab a compressor cooling system, water cooling is so old and unreliable in my experience (plus hardware manufacturers will normally revoke any warranties if they learn that you are using a water cooling solution !!). Now all we need to do is wait for compression coolers to drop in price... Oh and buy the condensation catcher even if you don't live in a humid climate, it's worth the extra £60.
