Onos! My video card is broken! And to make it even worse.... IT'LL TAKE 2 WEEKS-2 MONTHS TO GET IT REPAIRED! Well fuck that I says, FUCK THAT! So I guess I gotta get a new card :(. I been thinking about getting a new FX Series card, but I hear the only worthwhile one is the 5900, which is WAAAAAY out of my price range :(. Any suggestions as to which card I should get? I was thinking maybe a Radeon 9600 or 9100... but those don't work well with NC now do they?

my Radeon works fine with older drivers... FX cards are hear aren't that great but that is only from what I have read on differant game forums... (not that I would stray from the NC forum :) )

i have both top of the line cards from ati and also nvidia both work exceptionally well.

Don't listen to jaded 3d nerds when it comes to if a card sucks or not. Because they will cry over 5 frames to 10 frames when your pulling over 100 frames a second trust me i just had to buy all new quadros because the old quadros were to slow...um yeah..

ya the fx 5200 isn't great but it is cheap as hell and a really stable card.

I use a Radeon 9700 Pro with Catalyst 3.5 drivers (need to upgrade to 3.6). Other than minor clipping issues and the really bad clipping issues in the subway, I don't have problems.

I wouldn't bother with any ATI product pre-R300 core. 9700, 9800, 9500, and 9600 should be fine. 9100, 9200, 9000, etc I wouldn't bother with.

I get clipping issues when:

sitting inside a downed Spiderbot Sentry
standing next to certain trees
hovercab
Certain 3rd person camera views

I guess if you sit on your friends and enemies, then clipping's a problem. For me, it's far better now than it was in the past. In the past, I had to run without D3D hardware T&L because with it the framerate would go into the single digits when the engine did a reverse mipmap. Software T&L had major clipping problems.

Now, with hardware T&L, the issues are quite minor. I guess if you sit on your friends or try to occupy their space during op wars, it may be more of a problem, but for me I far prefer to use my Radeon 9700 Pro than my GF4 Ti4600 for NC.

I have a radeon 9700 pro running on win xp with catalyst 3.6 drivers and my FPS drops in the wastelands. Dropping to about 16 fps in some areas. One direction i can be at 72 or so fps then ill look the other way and ill drop to about 17 fps. Also in some neofrag maps i drop drematically at times. In addition I have the usual clipping problems in the subway, when someone or a wb stands too close etc. It runs great in every other game I own but NC

PLEASE KK fix the problem for radeon users!!!

radeon and nvidia both make good chipsets .. what sets them apart is the drivers.

nvidia drivers are stable

radeon drivers are stable on a fresh install .. try updating or switching cards and you have a ati nightmare.

now Iwould go with a ge force 4 ti4600 .. thats yer best framerate for the money.

heres the reason .. the ... fx card is actually better and double the price .. but the only diff tween it and the 4600 is the dx9 pixel shading and some other dx9 features ..

neocron is a dx8 game so the 4600 for neocron is the best bang for yer buck. .. the fx is better and more expensive but will look the same for neocron.

Would a FX5200 be able to handle all of the graphics powerhouses coming out (Doom 3, HL2, DX2 etc...)?
