Yeah it was pretty damn good. I was actually expecting more action than storyline but it seemed to be the other way around.

I rented this movie on the suggestion that if you liked the matrix you would like this movie. But I thought it sucked, this plot line has been done so many times, Guy works for the system, guy learns system is bad, guy rebels against the system. The only similarity I found in it to the Matrix was the clothing. Granted there were 3 good but short fight scenes but other than that I found my self utterly bored with this.

i saw it a while ago, a good 3 months... but from what i remember, although i think it left it open for a sequel as i wanted to see and know soo much more....

the plot was great!

look at it, its set in a world with no war but everyone is alike, there is a system keeping the world peacful. it is reflecting ************'ism to a modern world, everyone i the ideal citezen, ruled by a corupt leader.
the rebel against the system when the dude learns to feel, in the end they scrifice no war for individuality. they start a war against it. the government in this has been defeated by the very thing it has tried to erradicte.

this film was truely great, you just need to be intelligent to understand it.

Story was not that great or lets say not original enought, but the fight scenes were very impressive. I watched it recently just for the fight scenes, they are somehow very refreshing compared to all that stuff we usualy see in action movies.

its because it isnt/wasnt a major movie and it had only a low budget ( around 10-20M USD )

it aired only in a few cinemas and since it was released before reloaded, it cant really be a reloaded killer ;)

and if you really care about the movie and want to know why you didnt read any reviews, check the imdb.com boards and you'll know

how many other films u know with a story like this?

i know of at least 3 with a similar story

why kill off a quality actor like sean bean so early into the film? I liked it on the whole though. The fight scene at the end especially reminded me of the lobby scene in matrix.

Well worth a watch.

lol true....but only the agent smith fighting(lots of em) car scene and very few other parts of matrix reloaded made it matrix but then again it was the middle part of the story so we can only wait for the 3rd one and pray it kicks ass like matrix 1 did :D

If i had to compare both today i would say equilibrium is the better of the 2 (if u like them sort of films of course! :))

Read more about it. The film was a world wide blockbuster hit. It was released everywhere else but america first, and won a TON of awards. Then teh advertisers in America screwed it up...

Think CDV of the movie world publishing Equilibrium and you'll know what I mean.

Very popular movie. Very good movie.

It has the same plot of that Farenheit 457 book ( forget the title )

I heard it was pretty short.... only around 64 minutes according to a friend of mine... is this true?

Don't really care, as long as the action scenes rock, which I have no doubts about :D

Gun Kata owns you all.

It is teh discepline of fighting with guns in hand to hand situations. Meaning, you know every mathmatical probability of each bullet before the fight begins, thus, enabling you to dodge bullets because you know where the bullets are going.

Like matrix without the matrix :)

errr no it was no worldwide blockbuster hit, it didnt even come in the german cinemas ( no, NOT AT ALL ) and with germany being one of the major markets, i think that this is a good sign for the movie being not a "worldwide blockbuster hit"
... you mean fahrenheit 451 btw ;) ( the temperature at which paper bursts into flame )

and no, its not 64mins, but rather 107mins ;)

GO Christian Bale GO :D

What he said.

Although in the movie's defense, the whole Grammaton Cleric / Gun Kata business is pretty unique and cool. I'm currently playing in a P&P Dragonstar game with a monk who's heading towards the Gundancer prestige class. Equilibrium was my inspiration for that.

Equilibrium is a movie that most theatergoers missed because of its lack of distribution (only shown on 301 screens nationwide) and promotion. Miramax released the film last December between its two blockbusters Chicago and Gangs of New York. The film completely tanked at the box office, making a little over a million dollars domestically in its 3-week theatrical run.

It had a lot in common with Reloaded : Shite script, laughable and hackneyed story, fantastic action sequences and acceptable performances (note - Keanu excluded of course).

Personally I prefered it to Reloaded. I saw both in the cinema but have only bothered to see Equilibrium again since. Mostly because I wanted to see if it was really as daft and shallow as I remembered. It was but I still enjoyed it. We can all enjoy bad films as much as good ones sometimes after all :).

I did think it should have had the tagline "crime against sense" though.
