View Full Version : "Messenger Killer" booting me from Neocron

There's some stupid warning popup that keeps opening up for some reason and I can't get rid of it. It claims it's due to the fact that MSN messenger placed some new type of popup on my computer. Unlike a lot of popups, I don't need to be on the internet for it to popup. I can simply keep my computer on and the popup windows will just appear.

Unfortunately, it boots me from most of my games, especially Neocron, and in the process, kicks me out of NC altogether. Now this happens every 10-15 minutes.

These messenger popups come only from one source, some website called Messengerkiller.com. I don't know how the hell they got their stuff on my computer and they don't have any unsubscribing links ANYWHERE on their site. Anyone else have this problem and/or found a way to stop these popups from happening?

I have those ads before. Forgot if you use something that blocks pop-ups that stop it or edit something.....

Use this link if you use XP Pro: http://www.tweakxp.com/display.aspx?id=2006

/edit Try this first instead: http://www.tweakxp.com/display.aspx?id=2010

A po-up blocker is useless against this type of Pop-Up.

It is built into windows but it can be turned off. To do so follow the instructions from here (http://www.madgamers.net/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15436&highlight=service)

They were really annoying but i've got it sorted now =)

Thanks you guys for the help. I changed the admin tools services option to turn that god-forsaken thing off and so far, it seems to be working. Much thanks to all of you.

Just out of curiosity, where the hell did it come from in the first place? I sure as heck didn't put on/install any programs that would give me popups like that.
