Neocron can only be experienced with over 250 - 500 players 24/7

Most people never truly lived the politics and reputation.

Why is this not on steam to at least get a chance to reach these pops back?

I was told that Kirk only released the code to the new Neocron team. The new Neocron team still doesn't have the rights to release it anywhere else unless Kirk says okay. At least someone could have also told me a lie. I honestly don't know. But it would be nice to see this game moving in real-time again. It's best played in the dark.

Can someone get ahold of Kirk Lenke and ask to be put on Steam. It's the least we could do for this game's 20th anniversary imho.
This game is beyond in the dark, it's been buried for 15 years. 2001-2006 were the real years of Neocron.

We don't want Neocron on Steam at this very moment, for several reasons.
One reason is that we're a very small team of volunteers running this project.

Terrible reason. You might just get more volunteers by putting this buried game into a real platform.

Neocron has been a personal pet project of NST for years now. It is an exclusive learning tool for them to try and become actual developers. No one else is allowed to use it.

Yeah no shit, no one else can discover this game either. It has no platform. Buried for the last 15 years. Oh well. People used to pay 15 bucks a month to play this 'pet project'. Back when this game had an actual playerbase.

Xanthos, that makes perfect sense. Keep up the awesome work. Thanks for keeping this game alive. I hope you have a great day.

Feel free to send us your application: https://neocron-game.com/jobs

For you it's a terrible reason, which is toally fine, but it's just one reason.
We do have some more, which came up, when we considered it at some point.
We're not the IP holder, we're "just" allowed to run the project, and we don't want to hurt the IP, and that's crucial to us!

Our ressources are pretty limited, that's why we're asking for donations for example.

For Steam you'd need a much larger team* and maybe several infrastructure enhancements, and those are not sold by Crytons or HEW (sadly!).

* You also have to take into consideration that this is a 20yr old game, and people would have to work with tools from the 90s and with a bunch of limitations, which NC has - You think it's easy to find volunteers for this? It's not, we're trying it for years now.
We had a time when a bunch of people applied, and some joined the team, but they left, because tools are too old, and functions/possibilites are limited.

You may be right, we could get some new people on board, when we would have a much larger player base, yes, but it's all theory.
And to get the larger player base we'd need the larger team first... The vicious circle starts to laugh.

But if you have any skillset we could use here, please, send us your application.

Just to be clear: We do not need a bunch of Gamemaster, playing with Godmode, Invisiblemode or stalking player, we need volunteers who can and want to improve the game.

We do have a playerbase, it's small, but gorgeous.
We're active on Social Media, and you can reweet us for example or promote the game the way you can. ;)

Yes, ages ago you had to pay to play the game, now it's completly Free2Play, without any Itemshop, Microtransaction or whatever the cool kids have nowadays.
It's not our goal to take money, and even if we'd like to let you pay, we're not allowed to.

Thanks, you too! :)

Thanks for the interesting post Xanthos.

I've come back after many years and have been pleasantly surprised how enjoyable the game still is and by the mostly pleasant in-game interactions.

What sort of skills are you looking to add to your team?

Welcome back, happy to hear you enjoy! :)

Depends on what you'd like to do.
If it's Source-coding: strong C++ skills.
