Hi, been away for a year or so and decided recently to com back for more.

Now I updated my old launcher, but when I try to start the game the launcher closes and the game doesnt start.
Did a filecheck and everything seems right, any ideas whats wrong?

I also have the same issue, after installing the latest VCRedist_X86, the client just closes.

I contacted support, who suggested I reinstall NC in its entirety, which I did. But it's still doing the same thing. Start Launcher, hit PLAY, close down, and that's all she wrote.

I was asked by support what OS I was running, like I'm a weirdo LINUX or MAC user :p, but I haven't heard back from them since.

In case it matters, and someone here can give me the answers, my specs are:

Win7 Pro x64, (fully updated)
VCredist_X86
.NET Framework 4.5.2
16GB RAM
GTX 670
AMD 4100 @ 4.4GHz.

Are you using the latest version of the installer from www.neocron-game.com/client-download?

We recommend a total reinstall with the latest version of the installer as it comes with both the VSRedist and DirectX, required for the client to start (it also sets various permissions for modern versions of Windows).

We know a lot of folks out there have old installer versions which can cause several issues.

If you have used the latest, can you confirm DirectX is installed and up to date?

Current DX version is 11.

Yes, I used the client download/install from above web page.

Just ran install again with no changes to the outcome.

Can you confirm all install options (Except test server) are checked when you re-install?

A couple more things - are you getting the GFX configuration screen come up when you start the client for the first time after installing and patching?

If you don't please start the Launcher, click on the Configure button, and then select Configure Hardware.

If that fails please, post a copy of the error.log file found in your <Neocron Folder>\Logs directory.

One more question, have you ever used the test server at all recently?

I haven't seen any "graphics config" opening, (if that's what it's supposed to do), after each fresh install.

I have just hit Config/configure hardware. Nothing happens, no new window opens. I hit APPLY, pop-up closes, I hit Launch, sending version request then closes.

No, I haven't played TS since before Titan went live.

PS - There isn't an ERROR file in the LOGS folder. I only have:

CallStack
clientliblog
console
patchlog

Do you have any Anti-Virus applications running?

I was helping another runner over the weekend who thought he didn't have any AV, but turns out AVG was running. As a test we uninstalled it. I also upgraded his .NET Framework version from 4.5.1 to 4.5.2. Both of these changes following a reboot resolved the issues.

Might be worth checking it out :)

I'd put a fair wager on you not having the prerequisites installed or installed properly.

Go to the launcher, click on Configuration then click Configure Hardware. Tell us if you get a new dialog with configuration options or not.

Thank you all for the input you have given me, especially Kronos, (whose suggestion fixed the issue), and Bifrost for his willingness to see this through.

Must have been a conflict with either the Malware Bytes or MS Security Essentials, as disabling these on boot, then dl'ing a fresh client, (again!), and reinstalling fixed it.

I had to however, repair both of the vcredist files, (as per Bifrost's suggestion), even after last install. Configurehardware worked this time, but the client still failed to launch. Repairing aforementioned files, (cba to uninstall/reinstall them lol), finally fixed the problem.

As a lot of original players of NC, it does, and always will, hold a very special place in my heart. Being the first MMO I ever played, like a "first love", (no, not the rifle you silly peoples :lol:), you never forget it, and often, nothing can better it.
