How often does double XP roll around?
I just started playing again, since before Terra was lost, and it's still hard to push to cap all of the characters, that I had, again. (WoC, ect) So, I was wondering how often does it come? I would like to see it more often, especially since the game was never about leveling for me, and most of the guys I played with, as most of the fun was hanging out and killing random people; or NeoFragging endlessly. I just want to get back to that point...
Double XP is used for two reasons:
When in game time is lost due to unexpected server down time, or
As a celebration for a new milestone or occasion
To be picky, Terra is not "lost", all of that data is safe and backed up securely we're just not offering character transfers at this time. That may may change in the future but it also may not.

It's good to hear that all of our work is backed up and safely guarded, but it would be nice to allow us to use our old characters once again. (I couldn't really care less about the rares and other items, but re-leveling absolutely sucks IMO...) I would be happy just to be able to move all (some?) of the old characters over.
double xp should run every weekend. more capped characters only means more pvp and tradeskilling. vets can woc characters over a weekend if they desire.
Yes, double or 1.5% xp weekends could greatly increase population that remains in hide.
Yeah double XP in all weekends and triple XP, for celebrations/downtime compensation would be great IMO.
(And all my characters are capped, so this is not something I will gain anything from - exept for more capped players to fight).
There are no plans at this time to change the use of double XP.
i'd still prefer the freemium model: play NC for free, buy a capped char at 99 USD.

How about just changing the normal xp gain so its permenantly increased. Then keep double xp for the current situations

Fact of the matter is were losing players because people don't want to do the grind again. I doubt we will lose any players by increasing the xp rate on the weekends.

Well, it would surely generate a shift from weekdays to weekends. Not really that great either.

CBA, they are all 0/2 and barely left their apartments before I realized what I had ahead of me and alt+F4'd :D
(By the way, why has the terrible low-level grind not been addressed? 0/2 to */15-20 is awful. All the weapons are terrible and don't improve very quickly.)
The only reason i dont (cant) play these days is because although people try to pretend that you can cap a character in a day, it would realistically take me 2 months to half cap a single character.
Play smart - reserve the double XP weekends for NC :p
And yeah Apoc, the low level grind is by far the worst of the leveling process..
After you have leveled the first character up, you can afford res-missions though. And that makes the lowlevel leveling A HELL OF A LOT easier! :D

There will be changes to this through the on-going balance project (http://forum.neocron-game.com/showthread.php?155324-R-186-T-186-T-194-Patch-Notes). While we are focussing on the PvP side at the moment - based on what we hear/see in the community - the initial set of changes will make a difference to levelling. Once we have a stable foundation for PvP there is still a ton of work to do for game balance (http://forum.neocron-game.com/showthread.php?155325-R-186-T-186-T-194-Patch-Discussion&p=2226064#post2226064) and PvE is part of that.
Plus, the whole new player/character experience needs a significant overhaul. We don't deny that simple fact but there are only a few of us (http://www.neocron-game.com/jobs) and there is a breathtaking amount of work to do.

There is a difference between not wanting to be held back by a grind and wanting to play a game where everything is a button press away.
Reducing time to cap (including WoC) doesn't do anything other than get people in game, ready to enjoy endgame. Don't like endgame? Level another character... it's apparently something you love to do.

You are out of context here. Did you forget about the wipe? What was once worked for is no longer accessible. Double XP would allow us to regain those characters back faster.
It has nothing to do with wanting things handed to us. We have lost things and we want an easier way to reclaim them.

The latter is just a part of the game, when you're done with levelling up, exploring the world, acquiring stuff, so all theres left is craptalk and PvP.
Maybe thats all you want to do, Divide, but if you want to skip the major part of the game (a.k.a. getting to the point where theres nothing left to do but PvP) it's sortof your free choice to do so. but nothing you could blame on others. Or demand from the people running this wonderful game atm.
And please, Grim, you didnt lose anything, your chars are still there, backed up on trusted harddisks. Titan is a new server, and we had to move there because of way too much exploiting and cheating, for a fresh start. Please feel invited to have fun playing the game, levelling up, getting things, coming to the point where PvP really matters. If you want to PvP without all that levelling up and ingame lore and PvE you maybe want to play Counter-Strike instead.
Or UT. I always loved a quick Onslaught match, dont you, too? Sometimes i wished Neocron PvP was more like UT Onslaught. Connected outposts, hardpoint outpost turrets, meaningful vehicle combat, vastly different weapons, a simplified HUD. But, well, Neocron is a MMORPG, not a shooter. I'm ok with that.

Even you will agree that most of the stuff that isn't PvP and craptalk is getting old after the first couple of times. If you pulled more then 4 chars up you are likely to have seen pretty much everything that you have to and a few more optional things.

if we had only been playing for 2 years then i would agree with Torg, but when 95% of people here have explored the world umpteen times, done almost everything there is to do ingame many, many times over the years.... its hard to say "why dont you want to do all the other stuff?"
i havent seen all the secret stuff, there are things ingame that i havent done, but at this point im not going to invest hours and hours to see the last 1% of the game i havent yet, i just want to fight if i have time to login - just want to get back to the NC i remember and love.
i think its more complex. while i really enjoy to level up new chars over and over (more than 20 in the past 12 years), as well as the resource part of NC, i miss the immersion of my first months ingame. i just suspect skipping the char development part and concentrating on PvP will keep away boredom only for a limited time. imho this game needs both balancing and content.
well yea, the immersion factor is great.... for the first character you make after being gone for 2+ years, but after that no matter how hard you try the immersion is no better than when running around with a fully capped char.

You are totally missing the point here. I had fun on the first few characters, while leveling, but after capping 35+ characters, over the last 13 years, I am way-over that part of the game. I just want to log in and PvP/PvE with what I spent all of those thousands of hours working for previously.
Seriously, what is going to stop them from doing this all of the time? No MMO should EVER do a wipe like this. It is unprofessional, in an officialy released game.
For a lot of people, myself included, a total wipe was the only way that anyone would even consider actually playing again. Terra was so broken and corrupted that almost everything, including the XP gained on characters, was the direct result from said corruption. And it worked, people came back and played, hundreds of people all starting fresh, it was an awesome time in the history of this game.

One side of me thinks yeah would be nice everyone starting at the same lvl again. The other said thinks fuck that it would be to much for everyone to lvl to woc get the weapons everything peole would leave.

One wipe was painfull.. Another will be it for me, and probably a lot of other players.
The last "wipe" was kinda needed though.

I may have missed something, but is anyone talking about a new character wipe? It would appear that all that's done has been done to preserve the integrity (and longevity*) of the game. That includes character progress, and I would feel more secure knowing my chars are in the present team's hands than in the past 8 or 9 years. And I "lost" a fuckbucket full of chars and rares. (Literally, one fuckbucket.)
Napper, Sir! Love the idea of double XP for world cup. How about linking it to results? :D Maybe link this to a poll on here. Make those mods work as hard as they used to ;)

Are you serious? 0-20 is a couple of hours at most. The tl3 grenade launcher is one of the most overpowered levelling weapons going.

pfft, just repair a car with about 200k worth of nanites, bam, if you're a psi, you got capped str, dex and around 50 or so int. perfect for hitting 69 vehicle skill, enough to drive a tank. find a partner, get in zee tank, bam you're lvling up your psi and int. only thing left is your con. bam. also bam

This works if you're not brand new to the game. I realise youre clearly not new but come on now youre preaching to the choir here. Im not really new either. IF this game is going to survive then it needs an influx of new players. They need overpowered weapons and a plethora of missions to catapult them to mid level to make sure the hook gets them deep. The first 20 or so levels should be the fastest to get by a long way, in this respect Apocalypsox has a point. However nobody should be reliant on experience to make a good start. They should have this laid out in plain english from the moment they fire up the game.
Mr Jones is a cracking start to the game but he needs to have his items made useful/relevant across the board and then he needs to refer people on to the next round of missions - in the Job Centre where players go to work for the various corporations of Neocron. These corporations should then essentially teach the player the bits they missed in mc5 or just refresh the details they lost out on and by the end they should be pushing /30.
If they dont want to stay at this point then youve done all you can in my mind. If they do then all good.
Obviously when you have capped your first char and have infinite amounts of money/friends/other resources to go at then you can use the repairing trick. That goes without saying.
I've made several threads on the subject and even had some missions and the like written up a while back but having received no acknowledgement I kind of gave up.

Indeed... I would play way more if I could have a variety of character to use but I've grinded my tank to cap and have no intention of doing it again for another other character, its just to boring.
