View Full Version : Mobs and Zone Edges

Lately i've been running around zones to see which mobs are where and i've noticed a lot of mob spawn points past the "zone line" of the zone. i've even been seeing placables past the "zone line" in some areas. I was wondering if getting rid of these things would help out the game in any way. There would be fewer mobs that the server has to process in each zone, and less it would have to put into memory with getting rid of the mobs and placables.

Anybody know if this have ever been thought about? Or does it use so little memory that it doesnt matter?

I would love some feedback.

its here forever. i dont think its causing real server load. just an annoyance.

You need some 'life' over the zone line otherwise you'll feel really like being in a box when you are in a zone of the map.
And I think that a great part of the mobs you see over the line are here from pulling not spawning.
But like i said in another thread, some 'bugged' mobs (like Big Hoverbots 100/100) tend to die over the zone line
and can't be loot, 'THAT' is the real problem here ^^.

I also think most of them are pulled.
But yeah, mobs at zone line are kinda problematic, when you cross the zone line and get attacked from behind.

The pull issue is a bit different. There are fixes for that, but it's a whole lotta coding.

I was asking about those who have a spawn point beyond the zone line. Are they needed? Is having an aesthetic worth it? Does it eat up server memory?

And what about the placeables? Those aren't for aesthetics from what i've seen. it looks like they got put there for fun and forgot to be removed.

"Placeables" I am assuming you are talking about things like boxes, trees or anything that doesn't move. It is normal to find objects beyond the zone and they should appear in the same place when you zone. If you find anything out of place, please report them in the bug reports forum (http://forum.neocron-game.com/forumdisplay.php?233-Bug-Reports) with a screenshot as well.
