View Full Version : [00866][R#181] The ESC key does not work in-game

Hi guys,

While playing I found out that the ESC key doesn't work anymore when trying to close the world map, RPOS mode or when trying to log out.

I went into my key settings in-game, and I see that EXIT was set to ESC just fine.

I tried changing the button to something else, and then it works fine.

Now when I try to set back the EXIT key to ESC it won't do it because it doesn't recognize the keystroke.

My ESC key works fine in Windows.

Any ideas?

i cannot confirm this, i was using it yesterday and just tested it again on my notebook = works. maybe you moved the key in the keybindings?

Moved to bug reports.

Like I said, I checked the keybindings. It was correctly set there. However, upon changing it I can no longer change it back. The keystroke is not recognized (nothing happens when I hit ESC to set it, but it accepts any other key).

Also again, outside of the game ESC works fine.

Maybe Photoshop CS2 is running in the background?

No afraid not. And there aren't any other applications running that require any special instructions from the keyboard or would impact it's functionality.

I've come to peace using the ` key for now, but it still doesn't make sense.

I can't be bothered with a full re-installation either, I was just hoping this rang any bells and someone could point it out. I'll try checking the INIs or something, is there a specific keybinding INI somewhere?

Using a fancy "speshul" keyboard that requires drivers/software or a normal plug&play keyboard?

A fancy G15 with no special drivers for it installed. Using the generic Windows driver.

However, please note that it has always worked fine and no drivers or other software has changed!

I'm also using a G15, but I have the Logitech Gaming Software (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support/10088) installed, so maybe that would help?

To answer your question: the games key bindings are stored in neocron2/ini/keys.ini

Have you tried unplugging it from your tower and restarting and re-plugging. Let your PC re-configure it?

Also is it usb 2.0 or 3.0? Is it in the right port?

Also their are drivers for the G15 Click here to download them. (http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support/180?section=downloads&bit=&osid=14#section=downloads?osid=14&bit=32&osid=14&bit=32)

I would try all of these first, you could also run a patch checker on NC and see what happens.

Good luck mate.
