i realised how much i have forgotten of the old game. my heart skipped when i saw the pics at the loading screen and the server selection. the Hud looked bland and basic but it was readable at a glance although im not sure i even remember the original one that clearly? was that it?

I still love, LOVE, the old HUD.

To me, that's perfect. It still has the futuristic Neocron-like diagonal edges and stuff, but it's not too out there. The functionality is balanced with the looks. I know there was a HUD before that one, but this one in the screenshot is the one I knew from NC1.

If you look carefully around NC you will see them, the NPC's afaik never got updated skins

If you have ever done an epic you have seen the old skins. Half the NPC's you talk to are old models. Hontoka in IND Area is the one I used to have as my PE.

To be honest, I get jealous of the NPCs that use the NC1 private eye model. They look a bit tougher and more cyberpunk, and those shades, damn it. Like how baller was that Yakuza jacket?!?

If anything the old HUD feels one thing: chunky and unpractical with its square design. Like Win95 and hurts the eyes just as much. I wouldn't revert to it for my life.
Let alone the washed out NC1 textures... the design feels so '90, dunno what is cyberpunk about neckties...
Same goes for the shades... Picard called, Data wants his visor back o_O

Yours was different. He looked more typically asian. Hontoka but with red hair was mine.

It's not just the HUD. I like the old models of the weapons much more. Maybe it is not objective but only nostalgic but I love the old models of the Liberator, CS, Pain Easer... :(
