Hmm

Wouldnt the TL of the item have to do with the build quality cap as discussed in the Construction Guide at http://wiki.techhaven.org/Construct ?

I would have thought that if your intel, dex, and cst dont change but as the TL of item increases it would get tougher to quality cap an item. How do they not use item TL in that Build Quality Cap formula? ((103-(INT*.25) – (DEX*.15)) / .6

If someone can help me understand that will be great, thanks.

Here is the quote at wiki;

4.Build-Quality Cap – The quality of an item is average of the Damage, Frequency, Handling and Range of the weapon. This formula figures out how much CST you need to build a non-rare weapon with the highest quality allowed for that item.
Our terms are important. Let’s call this number the “Build-Quality” because it’s the highest quality you can build the item. Items with a low TL will cap their build-quality before 100%. Standard weapons cap at 94% for example, so if you follow the formula and construct an item with 94% quality, then you’ve made it as good as it’s going to get.

the text in bold is where I believe it seem to infer that the tl of the item should be in this formula....

No, it's deprecated. Now all weapons cap at 89%.

Quote from wiki:

This formula has a flaw, in that if you have very high Intelligence and Dexterity, your required construction skill can end up being lower than the TL of the item you’re trying to construct, thus violating formula 2.

The 103 in the formula is the TL you want to build.

For example:

You have 92 INT, 87 DEX and want to build a TL 95 Spell:

((95-(92*.25) – (87*.15)) / .6 = 98.25

So you need a CST Skill of 98.25 to cap the Weapon. And this is WRONG.

99% now.

sorry :)

and if you "barely" cap it, you get varying results between 95%-99% with the same INT, DEX & CST.

Is it still a good rule of thumb that you need TL*2 to cap an item?

yes, TL*2 should do it :D

on terra before titan i was caping crahn deflector at a steady 94%, my intel was maybe 80, dex 95, cst 176 or so

yes, TL*2 should do it

so the formula should be (((TL*2)-(INT*.25) – (DEX*.15)) / .6 ?

Does RCL not effect CSt anymore?

This may be really stupid but why does dex affect construction

This formula won't do it, too..
Maybe without the /.6 at the end. So with 90 DEX and INT you need a skill of 154 to cap a TL95 weapon. Someone should confirm this :D

It's more to stop the Tanks/PE's/Monks from getting better than the spies at construction. I remember a while back someone made CST tank, and got some quite interesting results.

so is it just dex as a level and no subskill nessecary? i whacked all my dex points into repair on my constructor
