View Full Version : cannot open client.exe
Trying to complete the patching and keep getting the error "cannot open client.exe"
Any ideas?
Move your neocron2 folder out of C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) to C:\Games or something of the sort.
Awesome that has helped!
But now when it starts loading it hangs and crashes (almost taking the pc with it)
Perhaps try freeing up some memory. Close extra crap from your system tray and close your browsers.
Nope... I'm running 4gb of RAM with 3.73 free. That should be more than enough surely?

what os are u running if u have 3.73 free :S
Windows 7. Sounds like too much to me too but then I closed everything non essential.
I doubted windows uses only 270mb of ram...
did you try running it in winxp compatibility mode and settings the graphics settings to dx 7? (or to 9 if they are currently dx 7)
I did think it looked wrong but that's what the PC was telling me once I closed all the crap in the background off. I did try running it in a few different compatibility settings but the client wouldn't even launch then. I tried XP service pack 2 and 3 and got the message "could not load table".
possible solutions:
- try to run the neocron launcher as administrator
- close google chrome (look at the task manager if there is a process running)
- try to deactivate your antivir application
- make a filecheck via the launcher
- if you have a firewall, make sure NC has all the rights necessary to access the internet.
some more things, but try these before..
Have tried everything here with no luck so far. The file check didn't pop anything up..
Right I told it to try local port in configuration and I got the the log in screen but the mouse doesn't work... lol This is a right pita!
try alt-tabbing in and out a few times.
window mode :-P
alt tabbing works there
ye, if u have problems, always use windowed mode, this is self explanatory in every single game :S
Unless you don't like decreased performance and having to increase Gamma manually so you can see shit. Good for easier troubleshooting, though, at least.
Also, you can navigate the menus with just the keyboard by pressing tab to switch to the next item and enter or space to press the selected button.
like I said, when u have problems :p
tho in my experience any properly programmed games these days run just as fast in window mode as fullscreen (some even faster for some reason), except when the game crashes, it doesn't take the entire system with it. This is the case for every online game except neocron 2 I have played ever since cs1.2
