I'm sure it takes more than a few days to set up things like that, let alone get back to us, never mind the issues that they are still dealing with.
Donations for a start are complicated issue due to tax and business reasons, especially during an insolvent period.

OT: well it's lillith asking for attention in a thread about kirk asking for attention! ;) And she posted the other posts in a completely unrelated thread too, so there are a lot of similarities. :p
I'm wondering though, is the facebook page a way to get new business again? I thought companies in insolvency weren't allowed to make new business deals unless sanctioned by the official judgy type person who oversees the insolvency?
And it doesn't sound like they are asking for investors to invest in neocron 3, but to get some clients for other projects? While I have no problem with KK trying to find business other than neocron 3, it kinda conflicts with KK's seemingly trying to convince us that they parted ways with Gamigo to start on neocron 3. If I misjudged this I would like to know though.
So in a few short questions:
- Are you looking for investors in neocron 3 particularly?
- If this campaign leads to you finding clients for other games, what does this mean for neocron 2 and 3?
- Did you mean to imply that you split with gamigo because you wanted to make neocron 3, or did I misunderstood this implication from your responses to the questions and did you actually want to make yet more different games?

KK has quite a few development staff, and have worked on numerous games aside from BP and NC. They need to drum up support for their smaller projects to get the business running again before they can look towards investment in something as big an effort as an MMO.

I want to join really, but it's just rude... and I hope it's not how Reakktor is going to act in future because then that's just as bad as the casual disregard some other companies have for letting their customers talk :(

aside from being part of the reason KK went insolvent in the first place, the abysmal customer relations has nothing to do with being insolvent. Just because you're insolvent doesn't mean you can't answer questions and keep promises.
There's simply the fact that KK is a company that is very very easy to dislike, because of the way they act towards customers and community. Don't expect a lot of goodwill from a community if you treat them like crap for years.
(Whether or not there is a good reason for their behaviour is completely irrelevant, we all would be a lot more willing to forgive KK if there had been any kind of effort to include us).
As an example, natural selection 2 by Unknown Worlds Entertainment was supposed to have been released 2 years ago. But because of the way they include the community in everything they do, aside from a few hardcore trolls, everyone is willing to forgive them, and work with them towards an even better game.
(and yes I realize insolvency is actually about not being able to keep financial promises, sorry, don't proofread much :p)
Don't expect a lot of goodwill from a community if you treat them like crap for years.

Well Biglines, think of it this way. Some of those who support the community were previously paid employees, and with the insolvency, perhaps those people are not able to be paid even for time they worked prior to knowing they would not be paid. So support the people who support you by supporting Reakktor if you cannot justify outright, blind dedication to the company, think about those who have deciated a decade to serving you in the best capacity they have been permitted :) Ya dig? ^^ Was that too obtuse?
as usual i express myself poorly. I wasn't saying im not supporting KK, I'm saying I can understand the anger, as in there's no point badmouthing people who do not want to, they have every right not to.
But I will always support all the hardworking people at KK, and like I said, I personally have no problem with KK doing other projects, as long as they are honest and open about it. I just hate KK's policy of secrecy and misleading messages.

This really is a grasping at straws moment for KK. I thought BP would of helped to keep KK up and running. Facebook? Really?
Excuse my cynicism but what's the guarantee that this wont happen again? If KK pulls themselves out of this what contingencies or business plans are there to secure KK's future?
I have faith that the community will support you, as we all love you, but the community is small. Everyone is either dead or dieing and those that haven't ended up living in the sewers; emerging to the surface for Kirk's posts, are very weak.
Anyway the important thing is that the staff at KK are ok. With or without NC continuing.

You'd be surprised.
Many large organisations/businesses use facebook as a marketing tool and a highly effective one at that. Millions of people linked together can disseminate information quickly and to those who would otherwise not discover it.
GCHQ (part of the UK secret service) recently used it to promote a recruitment initiative - newspaper and TV coverage ensued.
it can backfire really easily too though, good facebook campaigns are generally very sensitive and should really be handled by good PR firms or PR managers, none of which KK has :p

put it on steam youll make money over night, even if it 5 bucks or less, there are millions of game whores who must have any game they can afford to their steam collection.... im not sure how insolvency effects this, but I can guarantee generated revenue over night, my friends do this with their indy games all the time, their games are much simpler and crapier then NC ever could be

I agree that getting the game on Steam should be high up the list of desired ways of publishing the game. If timed correctly a release free of any major bugs can create an influx of players NC did not even have at it's best time. And it would not need much marketing either. Announce it on steam with some eye candy so it is on the "coming soon" list to get people curious.

If so, why dont just crowdfund a license buy? KK legal body is GmbH, means no private liability.
afaik crowdfunding is extremely difficult in germany (hence almost no kickstarter campaigns from germany)

I don't think there's really much link between Reakktor and Nukklear, other than Kirk Lenke and (somehow) the Neocron IP. Maybe if they get the funding, Nukk will employ some ex-Reakktor who haven't yet found other jobs, but as far as I can see the main link is Kirk alone.

Heh, yeah, got some fond memories of IRC and Neocron Online as well. Anyone else remember Twisted Pair? Anarchy/Online? Those were classic.
I remember I had a flame war with Joerg in the comment thread for a story on N/O. I basically accused him of selling out to CDV.
In retrospect, that probably didn't help matters. On the other hand, that was about 10 years ago.

seriously though, using your forum date to portray any kind of authority is weird to say the least, yes you've got a long history with neocron, but this does not relate in the slightest to whether or not a new idea in 2012 is good or not.
If you had bothered to actually argue your responses, some people might take them seriously. As it is, all your comments are considered trolling, even though some of them might even make sense.
For example, it is true that unity is not the most stable or advanced engine out there. It is however, far better than any engine would need to be to run neocron far better than the current engine does. Unity wouldn't be a good idea for nc3, but for an nc reloaded, it's perfect, because it easily integrates old graphics with new platforms, is incredibly easy and fast to develop in, and it's cheap so they might actually be able to do finish it on a tight budget.
Remember, this was my game far far before it was your game. I watched it mutate from something great to utter bugged up shit.

It's not a secret that most people arround here would prefer a properly funded NC3 on a kickass engine, rebuilt from scratch on a more modern and agile foundation. BUT it is also not a secret that the position KK is in right now, makes this very much an unrealistic wish. NC:R may be feasible a way to keep both NC and KK afloat and retain a glimpse of hope to ever see NC3 become a reality.
I prefer this last straw, represented by NC:R, to cutting NC's throat right here and now. If you feel differently - fine. This is an open poll and if you dont want to participate, no one is bending your will.
I knew there was a reason I had kept those 14 servers from the datacentre and all those PDUs, UPSs and internet connections.
Shame about KK, but you will carry on, no matter how small or how shot you are, you will never die.
KK is a mask.. behind this mask is an idea, and idea's are bulletproof.

Just the fact, that they try to port into a unity engine based browser game doesn't mean anything, that the game will become shitty man :/ Sure, Unity engine isn't the best engine available on earth but still, it's the best u can use for such matters right now imho.
Imho, making it to such a browser / unity based game is the best decision they can actually do. Maybe make it f2p also (not sure whether they announced sth like that or not). However, the plan they're trying to follow seems to be the best optiont hey have.
f2p is booming and unity / web stuff got severall advantages as hell. Seems like a legit and good option so far, if there shedule will be executed well.

Couldn't agree more, I've not played NC in ages now, but if I had known it was going down the pan and there was a chance to save the old girl and maybe build her into something bigger and better I woulda been all over it...

You really should though, the GMs are trying hard to kickstart things now and they just need more marketing to people to get them to come back / try neocron :)
All this talk of a NC3 lol Reakktor never finished nc 1 :mad: It needed a monstrous amount of bug fixing i know but if you'd have tackled it waaaaay back then i know alot of people would've hung around a lot longer but hey all should've would've could've
You need ideas, just get the Archives of the suggestions forum out, there was a mass of good stuff in there, like when you opened it up for people to create custom skins etc there was some fab stuff coming out (tho as usual people had to ruin it by using it to hack/exploit the game).
I just dont get why you even let it come to this, out of all the communities ive been part of you had by far the best bunch, coders, modellers, technicians, engineers, programmers, web designers etc etc, all dying to lend a hand to kk but i dunno were you to proud to take it or to untrusting of them people.
You should've asked them for help a long time ago, thats all the community has mostly wanted to do since day dot.
Oh and last but not least small idea, make a XBLA type game, something simple like zombie apocalypse but obviously nc themed, 4 playable chars (spy pe tank monk) range of enemies in waves, small mobs, medium then large or something few levels that can be the sights of nc (ie via rosso, outzone, military base, tech haven n so on), its smaller easier but provides a bit of income n you can use it to spread some word that nc exists should you find means to be able to make a new game anyway.
Anyway i hope it gets ironed out and i look forward to the day i see nc reach the incredible potential its always carried :p Miss the old neocrack but i got minecrack to tide me over :D
