HI,

Is it just me that has issues logging in with launcher/client or is that old issue (http://forum.neocron.com/showthread.php?t=142313&page=1&pp=15) actual again?

The 'Connection Issues' hint on the homepage do not help either.

Weired fact is, yesterday I was online.
I didn't evenrestart the PC, I didn't change anything but today I cannot log in (have restarted in the meantime).

...any hints anyone?

THX in advance,
Rimm

Do you try to connect to the right IP? The IP the Neocron Launcher tries to connect to canbe found in the UPDATER.INI file in your "Neocron2/Ini" directory. In that file there should be two lines looking like this: SERVERIP=83.236.174.254 GAMESERVERIP=83.236.174.254

Works - but only if you write protect the ini file....
Launcher appers empty still though...

Firewall issues? The launcher needs port 80 (And other ports which I forget) to connect to display the launcher page, which is actually a webpage.

The webpage has the server IP hidden in it as well. Without that, you are going to get connection issues...

P.S. See if you can get to this page in IE - http://launcher.neocron.com/

Hi Brammers,

THX for stepping by.

Well I am pretty surprized - as it was not OK 1st day (reactivation), OK the day after.
Now another day passed and the issue is back although I didn't touch neocron, a firewall setting or router or anything.

No, I cannot see the page in IE or FF (http://launcher.neocron.com/)
I receive a forbidden in each case.

OFC I have a firewall - both IE and FF (just like the client and launcher exe) are currently set as trused (no restrictions, for IE just te mp =).
SVCHOST is limited (resolves DNS etc. If I am not mistaken) but causes not a single other issue anywhere else on the web or by using any other protocol/client asking for a DNS resolve.

THX!

set your dns servers to the opendns servers, should work then unless you have a freaky internet connection/proxy

Sounds very odd, looks like the DNS isn't resolving the right server.

Do a nslookup launcher.neocron.com from a command prompt and check you get...

Name: dowel.neocron.com
Address: 83.236.174.250
Aliases: launcher.neocron.com

Hi Biglines, Hi Brammers,

I guess your thoughts go into the right direction!
I have tried Brammers command in CMD and received the correct answer - BUT today is another day where the launcher IS working o_O !

C:\Documents and Settings\####>nslookup launcher.neocron.com
Server: ######
Address: 192.168.1.1
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: dowel.neocron.com
Address: 83.236.174.250
Aliases: launcher.neocron.com

I bet I can verify your guesses when my launcher gives me the forbidden page again..
(That will be tomorrow if it keeps repeating to bug me out every 2nd day ...)

Sincerely,
Rimm

LOL - Yeah Murphy's law at work here. Glad it's working ok.

I did come up with another thought, you don't have a VPN connection running?

oh and make sure you check the proxy settings in IE itself, lots of spyware/virusses/internet providers change the proxy info (nc makes use of IE proxy info, while chrome/firefox use their own proxy info), just delete any proxy info, internet providers shouldn't be using proxies anyway.

C:>ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /displaydns displays what's in the DNS cache

I shall overcome Murphy's law it seems.
Its working still... >.<

I tried Spoon's command, realized that the DNS resolution for the launcher is still saved and flushed the cache.
My launcher works nevertheless, it found the page again.

No, no VPN configured here and no proxy server either - but thx
(Well actually good idea...I just learned last week you can configure VPN client and server on XP prof without any additional software).

It appears I won't be able to solve that issue - it could be worse like still bugging me...

So thank you all guys, Brammers, Biglines, Spoon - I learned some new stuff!
Lets rest this item untill it bites me again - I'll update this thread when it occurs.

THX!
