View Full Version : Window Mode Issues.
I keep trying change to window mode but every time I launch the game is asks for new config options. Including just running Client.exe
PREFMODENAME = "WindowMode"
it's better to set it in the launcher, because you also have to set a number of other options for your video card to work, so go in the launcher to settings, and select windowed all the way down in the hardware screen

Are you using a custom launcher? I only have 16 and 32 random low resolutions. Nothing window or even blank or anything fun like that.

EDIT: Ahh see the last option is actually what you had put in your config. Strange. I will try editing config relaunching and going to the bottom.
lol ok, no idea than.
Darn edited my message above but no that did not work. Every time I add Window Mode in the config and launch it forces the config window open. At the bottom it always says that one resolution.
WindowMode is only available for me in DX7. I also have Radeon. I hope this helps.

Thanks that does help and wow that is to bad hehe.
There's not much improvement with DX9, usually. It seems to just make things worse.

for me dx9 is insanely more stable then dx7 mode i crash almost every 10 mins in dx7
When I recalled playing DX7 vs 9 something about shiny stuff or something looked bad in DX7 aka none existent hehe. I can't seam to get the game run at 1920x1080 either :(

in windowed mode, 1920x1080 would just be stretched afaik, and neocron doesn't handle widescreen very well anyway. I just put my windowed client smack in the middle of my screen (the default 1024/768 windowed client), and if i dual log I can fit two windows next to each other.

You can do it manually too:
Go to the NC folder, open neocron.ini and put this for the mode.
PREFMODENAME = "WindowMode"
PREFWINDOWSIZE = "1280x1024" (or whatever res you're running it at)

That was what I was doing but each time I ran the game forced to config it again.
makes the changes IN the config window and let it run NC first, THEN make changes directly to the ini file. I dont have this issue at all, either running from launcher or directly running Client.exe also not having it on a Mac running NC with Wine.

OMFG AMD cant run NC in windowed mode in d3d9 and its 2012 wtf.com, is there a way to force to with catalyst control, ive been monkeying with it and have had no luck
it's not amd that doesn't allow it, it's NC, nc windowed mode is simply software rendered. But rejoice, software rendered means fewer crashes, and being able to actually alt-tab

Sorry AMD = ATI
it seems to be a ATI d3d9 problem no windowed mode. however I was able to go windowed in d3d7 and run everything in compatibility mode as admin and it crashes less

most likely it's still not d3d though, from everything i've read about it, the windowed mode is ALWAYS software rendered, whatever other setting is used. ofc I could be wrong, but on all my ati and nvidia cards this has always been the case
