Heyo all, so I got my forum account working today, and then I realised, wouldn't this place be the best to tell the world about my Neocron 2 vids? Anyways, so I'm uploading a series of Neocron 2 gameplay vids to Youtube, I currently have about 4 of 34 uploaded (they fail to upload alot and Youtube takes ages, loads of setbacks pretty much), and I also have System Shock 2 videos, and have around 33 Hellgate: London vids to upload after I've done with Neocron 2. Apologies if it's against the rules to advertise this kind of stuff, but thought you guys might be interested, my Youtube account is Xbox50000 and the link to the first vid is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqgCWvAxPDw

Have fun watching and don't forget to like and subscribe!

Advertising is not against the rules in this form. I think this kind of thing is most welcomed also. I will say though your movies should be about 10minutes for a let's play but also voice overs.

Yeah, wish I could make 'em longer but lack of editing software and that it would take like 50 years longer to upload as 10 minute files holds me back, I plan on starting putting commentary the next time I film something, I have finished filming Hellgate and System Shock 2 and my next batch of Neocron 2 vids (being made soon!) will have commentary.

Windows has a editor comes with live if you install msn that package. And you can compress the say 15min of 30gigs of footage to like 300mb.

Also how is the new Hellgate Launch? Does it have new or more content? Is it pay to win?

Dunno about it being pay to win, but it's pretty good as a new launch, but it's really not that new. It's practically the same game but turned into an MMO, which while improves it isn't all the best. Mind you I've heard rumours about a Hellgate: Tokyo expansion but I have no real proof to back up the rumours.

Also if I compressed my videos would it lower the quality? all of my vids are in 720p HD and I really wanna keep 'em and maximum quality.

that depends on your encoding, there's a number of free encoders that simply do the encoding for youtube, which is around 30 mb for a 10 minute video.

here's a link for a guide (note, I use adobe media encoder, so no idea how good SUPER is at it)

I have no idea what encoding is. :P I'm new to uploading videos so have no idea about much.

well, video is stored in a file, but instead of saving every single pixel of every single frame seperately, computers use encoding to compress the space this uses. Some encoders are lossless, meaning that they do compress, but they don't lose any information (they just save 10 times a black pixel to "10xblack" instead of "blackblackblackblackblackblackblackblackblackblack"), others do lose some information, but depending on the settings this can be invisible to normal users, or really badly pixelated. Youtube itself already uses an encoding that compresses with some loss of data, but still good enough that most users don't see this. A good free one is xvid, or if you get SUPER, it probably also has H.264 (of which some form is also used on bluerays).

(of course all my examples are simplified)

I just booted up Windows Movie Maker, and put all the videos together, with minor jumps in between videos they merge very well. So what I need to do next is to encode it to make it smaller (otherwise it would be over 20gb per video!)?

I don't uses Windows Video Maker but try this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2jmCrAQ0P0

This might be more updated also for HD

Cheers for the guide, I'm now merging 10 of the vids into one 10 minute one, cutting down to about 2gb for the whole video but still in HD. Thanks. :D

Not bad for example this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgH5-6mcfBU

Is almost 20 minutes about 1gig rendered. 1080P quality.

God damnit! Just finished uploading the merged video and it's in 480p and the text is unreadable. :( I chose the HD setting but it's not worked. Now I need to remove and reupload. :(

EDIT: Scrap that. Youtube was still processing, so now it's actually in 1080p, not just 480p!

Inside the game? Dunno about now but I've seen the game go well over 40 - 50, I believe once (just once) I may have seen it over 100!

Yeah. Apperently 1% = 10 players so for 5% = 50 players, 3% = 30 players and so on.

Also part 6 of my Neocron 2 Gameplay series is now up on Youtube! Enjoy and don't forget to like and subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnQv594gQ4E

It was :) When it comes to percentages, it seems NC2 rounds up to the nearest number.

Yep. Usually see 1% on the servers but there's only like 2 people online. :P

Wish we could see the servers hitting 1000+ would be so fun then.

Any more than 300 people on Terra causes major database problems.

That sucks. :( The game is great but one of the problems is the lack of players. Meaning if you need something doing (IE implanting, constructing etc) you can't get it done.

Some of us on the Phoenix TS server was joking last night that the servers would go critical when the population hits 10%

I remember seeing 500+ on Pluto back in the early days on NC1. Although I didn't see database issues then, NC2 did have issues with less on, as Cmaster mentioned.

back when neocron went free (or at least when you were no longer required to pay your subscription fees), pops were at 20-30% with no problems

Thanks to everyone who has subscribed! My next vids will be of Hellgate: London. Then after that I will either do more Neocron 2 or Anarchy Online (with commentary!), which should I do?
