err because ive been traveling alot throu the NC world past week..

there are so many zones/sectors u cant reach as "regular" player.
why not open them?

these fences and closed doors or "disappeard zones" are just listless, what does KK fear? more bugs/xploits?
KK didnt fix the cheats yet, dunno if working on it still but at least you could let us have some fun and more to explore untill that day....

most of the things that are closed off by gm's or places where people could exploit level, not that it stops most of em, but it makes it less convenient.

for the rest, it would require lots of support to open all those places up ;) and well... not likely ;)

Generally speaking, most of the sealed off sectors are either sealed off because they are too exploitable (Ceres Mutagenic Labs or whichever one) (interesting, in some cases identical sectors still exist, simply without such valuable xp/drops etc) or are just broken, seemingly beyond repair (OZ7 etc). When you look at what has been added over the course of NC, it would seem that KK don't have a decent map editing tool - almost all "new" sectors are old ones reused in some way. So I kinda guess that they can't really fix them.

What about the plain broken ones though - the way I hear it, OZ7 is basically just an exercise in frustration - everywhere you go gets you stuck.

What I (and plenty of other people) would quite like to see is existing sectors actually made use of - Main Sewers for example. Vast area of the city with no purpose at all.

what about the secret entrance to the canyon? why u cant go throu it anymore?
what about that tunnel at the back of the OZ church? it ends u syncing into your appy... where was it meant to lead you?
whats up with those disabled ceres labs? why not reopen them? the disk droprate in the other labs increased, disks going for about 2-4mill....
why not perma open "the cage" or the mall? its a shame some dev`s put so much effort in creating such zones just to see it locked and only open when events happen every 2 years
"shooting ranch" is another thing i got im mind

am sure there are more hidden zones.... id like to see them tbh

Thats the Pepper Pub I believe. Been closed since NC2 launch (at least). No idea why - but it took a a couple of years after NC2 launch before the Pussy Club opened too.

Just drove out there. It isn't shut. It's as empty and useless as ever mind.

Well, it was always a bit of a bodge that one, stuck together from DoY tunnel parts.

If you mean the church in OZ5, then thats one of the ways in OZ7 (there's a way in from one of the Mainsewers, and also from OZ3 I think (whichever OZ it is with all the bats). You shouldn't even be able to reach the zoneline however. I've never been there, but I have heard that OZ7 is a mess of broken ladders and non-solid floors.

The exploiting going on down there wasn't anything to do with the discs - it was to do with rank 5 APUs being able to farm 127/127 mobs. We were told they would be back within a few months. And here we are 5-6 years later...

Not sure there'd be much to be gained from that. There are cages and auction rooms elsewhere in the game.

I think again in PP2 there's a shooting range you can't get too. No idea if that was ever accessible.

Also: Crystal Cave 1, Worm Tunnel 5, Dark Metal. I dare say there are still more out there too. One would guess something is wrong with them all. I wonder if there are any missing worm tunnels? (hard to know really, what with their being a bunch of letters + tunnel KOS.

Any GMs fancy giving us a complete list of places so we can compare?

In the meantime, time to start with what we can find ourselves.
.dat files = info on what is in a zone. Think it lets KK use the same map repeatedly without having to create a new world file.
.bsp files = binary space partion files. Fairly common method used for creating 3d worlds.

It's not always easy to match up the file names with the in game location names, but normally it can be achieved (although fuck knows where "Zaun" and "Zaunhaus" are). It's also interesting to see things like the fact that there are only 6 different DoY tunnel maps, 2 for each level. All that really differs among them is the .dat placing monster spawns, ladders and click-zones in different places.

Things that never saw the light of day, like Wargames are in there, for example.

btw why did they closed droner racetrack at TH? and another thing - what for are all these girlies at worm tunnels, graveyards and other places? they were or they should be a part of quest or what?

I love stuff like this :D

Pepper Pub was an amazing tiny zone which was closed when TS/BD moved to the Dome, the door is sealed behind a click zone for the Tikki Tornado. As for the shooting range i believe (if memory serves) it now lives behind a counter for Red Pepper Entertainment.

The Twister in PP2 which is at the top of the big grav lift near 'aunty the stripper' is simply sealed off with a "Area Closed" sign on the door. Don't recall why that one was closed.

As far as i remember, the Drone Racetrack isn't officially closed, when the servers go down totally the click zone vanishes much like benches in Plaza 1.

There is a third crystal cave (Oddly Crystal Cave 1) which does not have a natural zone line.

There's another, secret HQ or at least their was back when FA were kicked out of TH. I can't remember if anything changed about it with the faction rework.

Just been to check - still there, still pretty well hidden, faction supply managers and all Although there was a xx/27 LEed tangent spy sat there taking turret fire.

Just to give you a bit of fun (it is a secret after all) I'll tell you that you get to it through TH1. Remember - this isn't the "security centre" with the ion turrets and the access to outside.

Security Centre is the one with a way in/out to the wasteland.

That was my guess, but seeing as every other faction reward is just a renamed item, maybe some changed stats it seems unlikely. Also Bram says that Hoder says it was a fancily furnished VR2 app.

Any chance some GM could create a diamond suite show appartment (all-entry door buzzer etc) as it is probably the most asked about faction reward.

It still contains tsunami guards so these will need to be patched out before reopening. Unless of course, the Tsunami Syndicate still have plans for the place...

If it led there, the zoneline would actually work, but it's set up to zone to into a zone which doesn't exist. If you zone to a world that doesn't exist in worldinfo.def then you will be kicked to your apartment as a failsafe.

We can't have runners zoning in and out while we're still "setting the stage". I suppose giving an access hatch to one empty one wouldn't hurt, but we reserve the right to take it away again if we need to use the zone for something.

It's a pain to recreate stuff like that so it was decided there wasn't much point in recreating the drone racetrack as no-one really uses it and it was originally a pseudo testing area back when we had theme weeks.


There is a third crystal cave (Oddly Crystal Cave 1) which does not have a natural zone line.It does, but only from inside. It zones you into H-08, but there is no matching structure in H-08 that would be suitable to zone you into the cave. It's another incomplete zone like OZ7 where there are places you could become impossibly stuck, so it just wouldn't be fair to let players in there.


Oh, the 4th plaza apartment map is the clan apartment. As for the Diamond Gold Suite, why not ask a DRE faction member show you one? Don't blame me if you're disappointed, however :p

Now, can anyone remember what the large outzone apartment looks like? Clue: they were Crahn clan apartments in NC1. I really want that to be reintroduced into the game as a publicly buyable apartment. I even have an idea where the entrances could be introduced and the apartment entry consoles for them do exist.

Oh, the 4th plaza apartment map is the clan apartment. As for the Diamond Gold Suite, why not ask a DRE faction member show you one? Don't blame me if you're disappointed, however :p

Nope, that's a DoY apartment. The outzone apartments have remained unchanged since NC1 and are accessed from Outzone sector 1, not the outzone station apartment complex.

i've seen quite a few faction medals on terra, regretfully probably most are of a certain origin as not to be discussed.

as to the germans having those things, there have been quite a few more events on german servers than on terra afaik

Was talking about the rewards, not the medals - my earlier post showed that quite a few Terra players have some medals.

It's to do with the german event/storyline GMs/characters being a bit more involved with the playerbase than on the english servers, yes.

I had a next faction medal. Left in my clan apt in doy though. The apt is still there with the furniture but sadly the cabs got emptied some time ago.

BYB or big yellow ball has been known to attract some pilgrimages in nc2. last one I participated in also had a lot of high level mobs spawn magically at every junction

(aka, gm supported event to byb ;))
