Well, it's that time of the year again!

According to the forecast on the MetOffice (whom I have grown to trust more than other sources), it's going to snow-snow-snow for the next few days.

I've (perhaps foolishly) just purchased a BMW 328i with NO traction control or ABS, so I'm quite terrified.

So... please post in here the second you get a drop of the white stuff (I mean snow, Helldemon/Lexx).

sleet here in the east midlands (derby) for about 10 seconds than as usual rain.

Friends in london tell me they have snow however :)

You will love the beemer dude, just sold my 318i touring and that drifted like a mofo in the wet even with a poxy 1.8 4 pot engine :D

4 wheel drifting in the snow is hilarious in my landrover too :D

Traction control, ABS, ESP etc are all well and good for cars that have it, but once you've developed the right skills, you'll be able to drive any car in any conditions with confidence ;) Even those all-singing all-dancing gizmos won't save drivers who fling their cars around regardless.

Us Brits never could cope with a bit of snow on the road. Scandinavians must find that rather amusing :p

None of my cars have ever had any of those newfangled devices and I could still drive through snow. What is wrong with the yoooof of today :)

No snow here. Just ice. Going to put my skates on. See you in hospital.

You think you have it rough. I own a nissan skyline which has just been picked up from the garage which I have not drove in months.

This may be the last you see of Cream Cracker :(

I'm on the borders of where the snow may fall... and I've booked today (Yes today!) to go off to go Christmas Shopping and see Avatar. :D

So please, any BMW owners stay clear of Bath, Bristol, M4 and the M5. :D

Edit: P.S. Outside check at 2:30pm - No snow, just annoying Chrimbo lights from neighbors across the round - glad my bedroom is the other side of the house!

haha!

Well, we just had 3 whole minutes of snow here in Sheffield.

@ Hoder; I've been on a skid control course... coincidentally, they used M3s, so it was very similar to what I'm driving now.

My fear isn't so much the losing control and going sideways.. but the getting stuck on a 5% incline!

@Brammers - I envy your day off to see Avatar. I'm seeing it on Sunday with the Mrs... 3D screen booked!

Which city are you in, or do you play NC 24/7?

PS. Snow here now. Caked in it. Everywhere. Whole town centre. Some adults cum children tried to take me down with a snowball cannon, but my hat and mittens gave me +25 snow resist. Then I zoned into the Metro.

Which Skyline is it out of interest?

I had the R33 GTS-T RWD for a while. Loved it, but it had a welded diff so it wouldn't even go in a straight line without drifting...

I kinda of have a car, by which I mean I have one in bits in my parents garage.

I'll be going home, getting a ride from my mate in his Asbo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Focus_%28international%29#Focus_ST).

As I speak it has started snowing.

L0KI
17-12-09, 16:00
Met office are saying that Yorkshire/Humber & North East has an 80% chance of heavy snow.

Has it started settling anywhere? or is it just wishy-washy piss poor snow?

Dribble Joy
17-12-09, 16:10
Not settling here, though it was kinda heavy.

Exactly what you had mate. GTS-T with bigger turbo, piggyback ECU, and alot of other random jargon ;)

maybe we should turn this thread into a car pictures

Love the car mate.

Mine was also white... Looked a lot like that actually. The problem with mine though, is that I bought it from a local drift race dude. He was a bit of madman, and it showed in the car. I barely got to drive it, as I literally didn't dare take it out in the rain.

My bimmer is a classic E36 328i, but I've been after an immaculate example for a while, as I actually prefer the shape to the newer E46...

Anyway, mock the colour all you like - it's done 65k miles with a full dealer history :D

Also - it's COMPLETELY standard, but I have LOADS planned... which will happen over time.

http://i35.tinypic.com/2jbsa3p.jpg

And the INCREDIBLY tidy straight 6...

http://i38.tinypic.com/539qc2.jpg

My shopping list:

17" BBS Split Rims
50mm/30mm Eibach Sportline Springs
Front Eibach Strut Brace
Dave F (heat-shielded) induction kit
M3 Front bumper & Rear diffuser
Black leather centre armrest
Supersprint cat-back exhaust

Oh, and the amber lights have gone now - I've put clears on it.

I expect to have all of that done by the summer! :)

EDIT - @ Mods: could you change the thread title to...

2009/2010 Snow Thread (+ Cars)

please? :)

It's currently snowing here as I type though I'm not holding out that it'll settle as it never does. I'm stuck here between the South Downs and the sea so we very rarely get snow that sticks, think it's been 15 years since we've had snow that's lasted more than one day. However it does also mean that we're pretty protected from most the rain too.

As for cars, I don't even drive I'm afraid though both of yours look very sexy.

OK, I lied....

Moments after my last message my younger sister (easy now cracker :p) came down and told me to look outside, this is the image I as greeted with:

Snowing; it's stuck a bit. Being Burnley, it'll be gone tomorrow, being replaced by muddy grey slush / water.

Well, it's settled in Sheffield overnight. Not too badly though (ie; I'm at work).

From the looks of the weather now, it'll be gone by midday :(

Not a lot has fallen here.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/Muffdemon/Picture236.jpg

What was a happy coincidence was that my shoes (http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/Muffdemon/Picture235.jpg) finally died, after leaving a literal hole in the back of my right ankle. The only other footwear I have is my hiking boots, which was useful since it's very very icy around here.

Yesterday was awful in Sheffield. I had to abandon my car a mile away from home due to a good 2 inches in a couple of hours!

Ka0s^

had a good inch or 2 in derby, slight thaw today although its clouding over again and it looks full of snow.

Had fun in the carpark at work today, makes people smile to see a landrover drifting :)

Yeah, they reckon it's going to snow again this evening in the Midlands. They're (Metoffice) claiming that Sheffield will be clear, but they were completely wrong yesterday too.

Well there was a dusting of Snow late last night, but nothing like the snow in Feb. The biggest problem is the ice under the snow, and it's not melting as it's soo cold.

Here is a pic I took at lunchtime.

We had snow for about 5 minutes on Thursday and so far, that's it. That map the BBC did of the entire of the UK being white? It was, except for one little small green bit, the bit where I live. Thats right, whilst the entire country is "suffering" with inches and inches of snow, we have none other than 5 minutes worth which vanished after 10 minutes

I want a frikken blizzard damnit, and I want to be trapped with lots of hawt cheerleaders, on a bus, with no way out while the snow builds up and the cheerleaders get all excited...... that'd so make a good movie
