Please see above for the current relevant information

Ok this is the new thread for the discussion of the NC - UK Piss-up.

The old thread can be found here. (http://forum.neocron.com/showthread.php?t=144013).

The date is for this is Friday 5th February 2010 to Sunday 7th February.

What needs to be decided is the location for the meet.

1. Pick your 3 cities from the following list.

* Bristol
* London
* Manchester
* Newcastle
* Sheffield
* York

2. Reply in this thread, saying "I want to come", so we do know you want to come and then put a choice of 3 different cities in order of preference. Like as follows.

Hey I want to come to the UK meet. My 1st choice for the meet is City X, 2nd is City Y, and my 3rd is City Z.

Your replies need to be posted in this thread no later than Friday 11th December 23:59 GMT.

Then the votes are counted for the 1st choice cities. If there is tie of votes, then people's 2nd choices are added to the Cities that are tied.

If there is still a tie after then people's 3rd choices are added to the Cities that are tied. If there is a tie after that, then we are screwed. ;)

So get replying.

put a choice of 3 different cities in order of preference.That's more like it :) Stops the futility of me voting for every city.

Okaaaay... "Hey I want to come to the UK meet. My 1st choice for the meet is Manchester, 2nd is Newcastle, and my 3rd is London."

If there is a tie after that, then we are screwed. ;)Nah, if there's a tie after that, we go to Hannover and have a party at the KK office!!

I want to get drunk with the Neocron Community, first choice is Newcastle, followed by Manchester, and... London third.

It's going to be time to meet up by the time we decide and we'll end up in bloody Nottingham again :p

So we count all second choice votes in the event of a first choice tie?
The other method (used in a lot of electoral systems) is to start eliminating the least popular choices and taking the second choice votes from those. You can either keep doing that (using 3rd choices if necessary) until either you have one winner or (more frequently) one choice has >50% of your vote. This system has the advantage of everyone only having one vote and that as an individual you will never cause your second choice to beat your first choice, which is a possibility we have here.

Brammers
09-12-09, 19:00
No, only votes from the cities that are tied are counted. So if Bristol and York are tied from the 1st choice, then only the 2nd choice votes for Bristol and York are counted.

Seraphin[69]

I'll only come if it takes place in London and the meeting date is arranged early enought

Brammers
09-12-09, 23:54
The votes so far...

* Newcastle - 3
* Sheffield - 3
* London - 2
* Manchester - 2
* Bristol - 1
* York - 0

So a tie for Newcastle and Sheffield, so counting the 2nd choice votes for those cities.

* Newcastle - 2
* Sheffield - 0

Keep the votes coming, bug people who you know have come to a meet before to come!

City 1st 2nd 3rd total attendance
* Newcastle 3 2 0 5
* Sheffield 3 0 3 6
* London 2 2 2 6
* Manchester 2 5 2 9
* Bristol 1 0 0 1
* York 0 1 3 4
If this would have corresponded with your graph I wouldn't have said anything, but according to this only 5 people can make Newcastle, while 9 people can make it to Manchester (almost double), of course its only the second choice for most people

if this table is not appreciated, feel free to delete my post, as I said before, just trying to help

You wouldn't have liked that random bar we went into in... was it Notts? On a random pub crawl during the day.
We drank our beers very quickly and the left before they could murder us with pool cues.

Well if im in bedfordshire then i can swing by and pick people up on the way, north or south.

Nick tell Roz if it ends up being in London I will sort out our accomodation (you to Mr Fang) as I can get a cheap room for myself and up to 3 guests on my card. It will be about £20 each for the room basically, its just a shame I cant sort out everyone.

Necpock
13-12-09, 18:33
I will be attending! In what progress are the planning stage? A cheap hotel site somewhere in the center would be nice for early drinking and late reurns (without worrying about damn underground trams)also somewhere close means we could make snap descisions where to go, but ofcourse anything of this scale should be done asap.

A full list of names of attendees and maybe's should be in order <3 Also,Chris contact me asap as regards to the room.

15-12-09, 01:09
Ok, so hopefully we shall avoid any dodgy pubs that DJ may find but Nobby be warned...everyone drinks a lot at these meets. ;)

Now here is the general plan for the London meet.

Some of us will turn up on Friday, and of course some of us will turn up on Saturday. Contact numbers will be dished out, so don't worry about not being able to meet up with us.

The main day will be Saturday, where we shall drink lots...take silly pictures, and drink more...maybe end up in a club somewhere... who knows? Of course if you are coming, and got a good idea where you like to go over the weekend, post it here!

Sunday, is the day we all depart, after a quick meetup somewhere.

Now this is where I call for the help of the London peeps. What are the best drinking area's in London. (I know Convent Gardens area myself)

As for accommodation, I'm looking at staying at a Travellodge. As London is fairly easy to get around on the tube, I'll be looking for one that is near a tube station.

danmalone
15-12-09, 01:54
Apparently i 'could' have a 3month wait to get my car (which cant be ordered until beginning of Jan) which could fuck up my transportation very badly.

I would be planning to get there for about 2ish in the afternoon to maybe have a wander about before drinking commences.

I believe mystic is in the process of trying to book that weekend off work... If he succeeds (he better do) then i'll most probably bring him with me.

L0KI

Just so we can start to organise this, as February is not that far away can people please start stating whether they will there between the 5th and 7th of Feb in London and we can start adding an attendance list to the first post with other details ASAP.

Something similar to this will do:

I will be in London between 5th and 7th of February 2010 for the NC meet!

(Yes, that is my confirmation)

I am considering driving down from near Newcastle so may be able to pick people up along the M1 on the way, especially if they are willing to chip in on petrol, however i have not 100% decided my travel plans.

You have no excuses for not turning up this time, and it's not in a Zone 6...more like Zone 1. :p

So where is everyone staying? I've booked in at http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/hotel_overview.php?hotel_id=50 From about 45 quid a night.

It's the Park Royal, near Ealing and has easy access to both the Piccadilly and Central underground lines. For those who are driving there is parking, it's not that far off the M4 and it's not in the London Congestion Charge zone.

However places are limited so if you want to sleep here, book quick!

P.S. My room is a family room, space for 2 more people in exchange for beer tokens and cash!

Well i am all booked for Feb. I am at a different hotel to brammers, i am staying at the wembley Travellodge http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_book/hotel_overview.php?hotel_id=309

It is about a 10-15 minute walk away from brammers hotel looking at the map and is a bit cheaper, but very few rooms left.

I have a Twin room so if anyone needs a bed and is willing to chip in just give me a shout.
And don't forget i can offer a lift if needed i plan to travel M62,M1 but can detour if needed. you got a lift yet DJ?

I do need a lift. I also could do with a place to stay, a random hotel floor would be fine. I must report that my current financial situation is best described as 'perilous'. Mostly due to the actions of Charnwood Borough Council. Hopefully by the weekend I should at least have spending money.

I fully intend to attend the meet, though I may be forced to either drink nothing and sleep on a bench or borrow off someone (family member or someone who trusts me).

Ok to anyone who is coming, and doesn't have my mobile number - PM me for it.

Right very rough plan, most of the people I've spoken to are aiming to arrive for 3pm at the Travellodge.

What I'll do is hang around in a pub close to where my Travellodge is, until everyone has arrived who are staying at the Travellodges.

Then we will move onto Convent Gardens, and find a pub that is close to the Convent Garden Tube station to allow any other peeps to come. From there, we will find food, more beer and also make a rough plan for Saturday!

P.S. If anyone knows any good pubs in Convent Gardens, list them here.

And one other note, I'll be tweeting location updates of the meet from the Techhaven Network twitter account. So follow @techhaven or just bookmark https://twitter.com/techhaven in your mobile phone browser.

Although please note, the more beers I have the less tweets I'll send. (I may get someone else to Tweet as well!)
