I had the great fortune to visit the city of Liege last weekend and ended up in a crowd of some 30,000 people witnessing the opening of the new train station there. I was really impressed: A spectacular sound and light show featuring opera and dance toupès designed by a chap who did the same for the Cirque de Soleil.

The station was designed by the same architect of the Lower Manhatten train station, a Santiago Calatrava, who also designed the station in Lille: It reminds me of an Imperial Tie Fighter in Star Wars.

Here are some pictures I took.

I love it when modern architecture really kicks off. This chap really designs buildings into alien objects. It reminds me of the film Alien.
