[OT] Bloody Karma

I hate karma, because its totally unfair!

I'm moving house beginning of April, lovely new house that has been built, even closer to the ocean than where I live now, and now the ocean is only a stones throw away, a small stone, thrown by a guy who can throw a stone about 5 minutes walk.

So cause we are moving I decided to have a good clean out, less junk for me to take, so I delved under my bed and everywhere, throwing away computer parts I've never needed and figured I would never need again, including 3 PSU's for my computer (current one is a nice 600W jobbie I got a couple of months ago).

Kept my old 8600GT though, I snagged an 8800GTS for £25 :D Double the speed! Anyhow, 3 PSU's gone.

So yesterday I installed Halo 2, started to play, got to the intro scene and was about ready for some FPS action when... kaput, my computer turned itself off and refused to turn back on!

Yes, my brand new power supply died on me, it died only a couple of days after I threw away 3 PSU's that I could have used to get my bloody computer working again. Its karma, either for playing Halo 2 or for cleaning my junk up for the first time in years!

Don't you just hate that? You finally throw something away and then find out that, even though you have never needed it before, you need it now! I'm having to use my laptop, and although the CPU is as good as my desktop, it's only got 1GB RAM and a crappy VGA card, it can't even handle NC at more than 6FPS :(

Karma isn't about equilibrium, something that is a misconception by a lot of burger inhaling westerners. Karma is actually the culmination of everything you've done in life not if I do something good then something bad will happen to balance it out.

Don't throw away old keyboards with a PS2 connector either. I keep an old knackered one under my bed and it gets dragged out every time i need to hard reset after a crash and the BIOS refuses to acknowledge my USB keyboard :mad: As annoying as that problem is, the old PS2 connected with some recognisable keyboard at the other end is a lifesaver.

I think the bad karma comes from switching to Vista to play Halo 2! If I'd stuck with Windows 7 my karma wouldn't have been nuked and lil budda wouldn't have come along and fried my PSU.

Luckily my laptop can play openTTD so I can get some... err.. serious work done!

Did try to stick Linux on it, but its an unsupported video card so I couldn't, no matter how hard I tried, get it to run at 1280x800, and as the LCD is Leveno or whatever (IBM) it has horrible lines that run through it at 1280x768, blergh.

Hrm, wonder if FFXI would run on this old beastie :o

Drom sex is fine, its not as if we're going to marry them, just give them a good time and leave a tip, or at least something, on the bedside table when we leave! Either that or shoot them. Wouldn't recommend shooting the wife, the mother in law, or, as we call her "dad" wouldn't take it well.

When it rains, it pours! Now my bloody RAM gave up the ghost and died :( Tried to turn my PC on this morning, nada-zilch, so took out 2 sticks and, it works, so I'm running at 2GB instead of 4GB, and because I'm moving Monday I can't quite order 4GB to replace it until next week, blerh, bloody computers :(

It probably would, funnily enough Vistax64 is working faster with 2GB than it was with 4GB, though I was going to replace the 2 broken sticks (667) anyhow (my patriots are 800) so its just, brought forward my time scale from "meh, whenever" to "hrm, soon as we move!".

All in all, them breaking down isn't such a bad thing, they ran at 1.8v but my patriot are 2.2v so by upgrading them I get a very nice speed buff. Plus I can upgrade my laptop at the same time to save on postage!

Rubbing salt into the wounds comes from the lovely keel hauling days, back then if you were a naughty sailor (refused to bugger the drom or whatever) they would tie you to a piece of rope and then drag you under the ship so the barnacles would tear your flesh away, very painful. To avoid infection from that (and whipping, purrr whipping) they would rub salt into the wounds!
