View Full Version : UK NC Spring Meet '09 | Piss Up #6 - Blackpool 20th March 2009 (Details Here)
Ok, by popular consensus, Blackpool stopover it is. Friday 20th March is beer night, then stopover at the Hotel / B&B of your choice ready for a whole day on the rides on Saturday 21st.
I've booked a room at the South Promenade Travelodge which is very close to the Pleasure Beach. Wherever you all decide to stay, I suggest we meet up somewhere near the south shore / south pier late afternoon / early evening then take things from there.
Anyone wanting to buy wristbands online can do so from the website (http://www.blackpoolpleasurebeach.com/shop/low_fare.php) to save £5, although you can buy on site on the day if need be. I have no idea whether this offer is limited, so it pays to act soon.
Anyone planning to arrive later than early evening or wanting to share transport should contact myself (if you live north of Birmingham) or Brammers (if you live south) via forum PM and we'll recommend arrangements privately nearer the time.

I'm booked in the same Travellodge as Mr Hoder and I've also got my wristbands. The cheapest rooms in the Travellodge is currently 39 quid, which is bound to sneak in in the next week or two.

little Nobby is only 18I wouldn't worry about that; we're all big kids anyway on these get-togethers. Besides, previous participants have been refused entry to various bars as they were (or looked) under 18. If you're gonna come, bring ID or we'll bury you on the beach, head first.
Don't worry Nobby i'm only 19, but it doesn't matter, everyone gets on like they have known one another for years... Christ, Steven trys raping my legs! :D
I also live very close to Brammers so if he has no space left I will be giving lifts :) Also Brammers fancy heading up together... Little Andy does not bond well with satnavs... They lead me into dead ends and into wrong lanes of traffic :cool:
Well the travel plans have yet to be finalised, I'll keep that in mind. And I still prefer using a good old Road Atlas!

I can't wait to see Blackpool again; it's ages since I last went.. in fact, the last time a few mates and I went out on the piss there, I ended up looking like this:

One thing u should try is the Pasaje Del Terror http://www.pasajedelterror.net/english/index_english.html (i cant do that cool linky thing) scared the absolute crap out of me, to the point of hysteria.
And a club not to be missed is Heaven + Hell.
And guys be warned, alot of the girls have a bit more to them than expected ;)
Used to go to Blackpool alot before the little ones & worked a few bars there, very nice place, lovely atmosphere to it.
One more thing, someone bring me back some rock pls? :)

As we head closer to drunken oblivion, we need to make sure that no-one who turns up is roomless on the night.
Can those who have booked rooms please post and state who's sharing with whom? Similarly, those who plan to come but haven't booked a room and haven't arranged to share should post too so you can be hooked up with someone.

Not sure whether Mystic is going yet so if he does there should be room for another one, if he doesnt then 2 can share...

As an FYI I won't be attending this meeting unfortunately, been playing with the idea of coming and trying to organise the funds etc but lack of cash and available time off work has thrown a major spanner in the works.

Not a lucky day for Trivaldi, i've been in an accident.
I tripped, booked a day off work on Friday, bumped into the internet and by mistake booked a hotel room in Blackpool at the South Promenarde Travelodge for that very same Friday night then fell at the Pleasure Beach website and ordered a wristband.

The cottage plan is still being thought out and we will organise it somewhat more intensely.
I of course shall be there! ;)
So i realised that my car was leaking oil (and lots of it) Turns out the sump has a small pinprick in it... after cleaning down the bottom of the sump and sanding it a lil to get rid of any excess gunk and rust and turns out theres more than one hole (that sounds very very dirty :P )
So luckily enough my dad knows a few ppl and its fixed hopefully.
I should be arriving in Blackpool around 4(ish) i have been told that it would take anywhere between 3+4hrs but i reckon i could do it a fair bit quicker ;)

Just got home, was a great 2 days.

Oops, I fell asleep and have royally screwed my sleep pattern :D
Day went like this:
4:30pm - arrive in Blackpool, find Dan (who is actually quite an aggressive driver, believe it or not... :p), get to Travel Lodge. Book in to strange looks on woman's face - discover that the room had one bed, and no other sleeping arrangements.
5pm: Bar found that was selling cheap, cheap drinks. Lots of people rushing to get their rounds in, some people were seen with three drinks queued up (AKA: lightweights!) Food eaten. Dan flukes a game of pool.
7pm: feeling rather plucky, we left the comfort of the cheapest bar in the world (eight drink rounds and plenty of change from a tenner) and head north.
7:20 Heading north.
7:30 find a bar named "Manchester", for some reason. Triv hammers Daniel on Need for Speed.
8:00 Heading north. Bollards, slight guilt.
8:20 find another bar. Money is lost on plush toy grabby style chap game. Pink hat discovered and tossed around. DJ develops beautiful golden breasts. Assist lightweights polish off their drinks speedily.
9:00 Find kareoke bar... :(
9:20 Two people, I forget who, sing. Videos are made :angel:
10:00 More north.. drinking... haziness... McDonalds
11:00 Second wind
11:10 shots bought, table slapping game played.
... haziness... Quiz game, question on Peter Crouch and Krusty The Clown.
3:00? Attempt to find late bar. The beach. Socks, shoes discarded and left behind. Sore feet. Water, salt.
3:30? Near-nudity emerging from under the pier. Boxer shorts, belly flop. No pizza, but vending machines. A pound for mini cheddars!
11:10am: Headache, phone calls, sand. Chocolate stains discovered on someone's sheet. A pound!
12 noon: Abject Chainsaw Horror for Hoder :D
12:40 A spot of fantastic queue jumping which earns the perpetrator my eternal respect for sheer balls if not etiquette :D Covert get-away before vomiting can happen.
Well I'm finally back home after the big road trip total of 847 miles, along with the a nice bruise and cut on my head from the Pasaje Del Terror!
Blackpool was good, I'm glad StevenJ managed to remeber most of the details. (As I couldn't!) Although having to leave early from Blackpool was a shame. Have to go back there for a few days next time.

Yes, it is made of two photos clumsily stuck together and yes, you can see the join. The individual photos were taken a millisecond or so apart and from slightly different vertical perspectives with completely different exposure too. The framing of each wasn't too great, so I've put them together as one pic with slight adjustments so just use your imagination.

Unfortunately I had the kids that weekend. Even so, I am so unbelievably poor that I'm not sure I would have been able to make it, and that's not an excuse, I really am that poor, lol.
Still, if the next one is down south then I should be able to make it, Bristol or London seem like good places, though I don't know either well enough to organise a night out there. You should come all the way down to where I am on the south coast and go to Brighton, lol, then I really would have no excuse, 45mins and only £8 on the train :P
