Woah! The graphics get uglier every time I come back from a hiatus. 15 minutes in and I would not care anymore but yeah, this game is in need of some serious facelifting if it wants to attract new players. I guess it won't because KK is now focusing on their space sim.

Another thing that strikes me whenever I play the tutorial is the way Neocron has forgotten it is an FPS. It is fun to gun down things in the tutorial but it takes ages to take down anything of your own level in the game proper. Combat needs to be faster, not slower. I would really cut the mob hit points and accuracy but in return increase the damage that they do, especially on lower levels. You hide behind a corner, getting some quick heals, then pop around it to mow down a couple of more mutants, then get back into cover to heal some more.

Any thoughts? I wish I had a development version of the game so I could try these damage to hit point ratios out :)

any form of development of NC i believe is on hold due to blackprophecy...

It's no use coming up with ideas tbh..

I did however read your comments and as a direct result, work on a new patch has been started and as you already know, the subscription fees have been lowered.

Must be an awsome Patch as it's been in development 4 Months now http://neocron.jafc.de/images/smilies/old/wink.gif


Burgeri, use the Brainport Thread (http://neocron.jafc.de/showthread.php?t=141298) for your ideas and whilst NC did receive a welcome upgrade to graphics a while back (check out the new weapons in 1st Person View, or the wastelands grass areas) the characters do need a lot more work. None of the NPC's got an image change and are still NC1 models iirc.

As for damage that's been gone over Loads as part of the last patch , some time ago.

Nice to see someone making comments though and a returning player will always see something we all care to ignore.

I was thinking the same thing.

Even if only one developer worked on it an average of 40 hours per week, for the past 4 month, then that person alone has put in 640 man hours.

640 hours is time to change a LOT.

This patch simply HAS to be awesome ;)

I've already said my piece on this issue so I'll just repeat it:

Just to point out - Kirk said that he had said that work on a new patch should begin before the insolvency. He made no comment about how far (if at all) work had got on that patch, and absolutley nothing about whehter work on that patch was continuing. It actually strikes me as rather unlikley that any work is going on for Neocron at all - if KK are attempting to finish BP purley on savings (this is a guess based on the fact that KK appear to be divorcing from 10T, but have no apparent new investor), then all work must presumably be going into getting it out the door before the money runs out.

Again - nobody at KK has said there is presently work on a patch taking place. It would seem foolish to assume there is. Equally, there are no statments outright removing that possibility. Still, a lot of people seem to be reading things into Kirk's statement that wasn't there (as perhaps I was guilty of at one point).

As for it being ugly - hell yes, but then have you seen AO or CoH?

I remember the damage downgrade (the hit/damage ratios before that were a true brainfart and I am glad they cancelled it) but what I am thinking about is a hits cut so drastic it would alter the entire dynamic of the game. Something along the lines of: "ok, that mutant warrior can kill me with three shots... but I can kill it with two". Or you would fire away at an approaching pack of desert wolves with desperate knowledge that while they're easy to kill, they'll chomp your buttocks off if they reach you (that would actually benefit from a better AI upon approach). As to how to fix the balance of sniper rifles with such a system I have no clue. It'd be just about as deadly as real sniping.
