Well I've just bought it, should be here Monday
Looks like WoW, but with like an oblivion engine and lifelike physics. Even has a "Button Bashing" combat system instead of point and click.
Anyone got this game?
Is it just overrated crap?

my roomie has it...and i have been watchin...it looks really kool...and u can just run up and attack neone and everyone u want witout any penalty if u die...but the game is buggy as hell.....but the team submits patches pretty quickly so ive heard

Me and a few mates are buying it in next couple of days. I played and enjoyed the beta.
It's a completely different animal to NC, and it is good! It's just not NC.
you need 32gb but the full install with patches is about 21

Ok shameless plug for Age of Conan:
I'm playing on Cimmeria the RP-PVP server for North America (character: Jack). It's free for all pvp, like Neocron. So far conflicts are ruled by either guild politics or with odd pkers who kill just about anyone. I'm 'really' enjoying it so far..
Mirroshades is there (under name Bloodfire Syndicate), so is "The Gang", which I believe is the oldschool Neocron clan.

Game was really good until level 55. After that it's a pure grind-fest. So boring.
There's no endgame content yet either, and itemisation is a hit-and-miss.

Classes need some major balancing. I take back everything I ever said about PSI Monks...
Give the game a few months before trying it, I suggest.
I can see i've got nothing to look forward to with high lvl armour...lol
I'm only lvl 25 atm, been trying most classes to lvl 5 to find one i felt was more "for me."
I'm using a bastard of a rogue I have managed to kill lvl 36 people when i was at 21, i think the Magic classes seem underpowered, though maybe i was lucky because i got the first strike.
What server you guys all on?

be a few months before i sort a reliable ISP so i may well give this a try then, hopefully the balancing as you suggest may be addressed by then :)
Reminds me of the look of Dark Age of Camelot for some reason - just too tired of the fantasy setting for MMOs, looking forward to a change of genre like Black Prophecy.

I have to admit, the engine is great - and the gfx are sexy.
I finally made it to lvl 80. That last grind from lvl 78 - 80 had me pulling my locks out...
The PvP is really fun. Not as skill based as NC, but far more so than WoW, or any of your other carebear mmos.
Instances and Raids seem good so far, they will be much better when Itemisation is sorted (which they say will happen next week).
I recommend you give it a try, just don't rush to 80, it ain't worth it yet.
And don't cancel your NC sub :P

o.O Funny, they do look very similar. Then again most games are like that, Dark Age, Tabula Rasa, Lineage II, etc. That same leveling bar at the bottom. People are to level 80 in 2 weeks and then the game finally begins. Endless raids.

i play here with loads of soldierz, the pvp is fuckin awesome
Conan is still a beta as far as I can see, the end content isn't there properly. Will wait to see how the game develops.
Spike get the Soldierz back to Neocron, its cheaper after the server move next week.

we have one the strongest guilds on soulstorm, not going anywhere ;)
i enjoy the pvp too much 1v1 and group pvp is awesome, and theres a big pvp patch soon

Conan has this funny little thing called rangers...
they go pow, and then you cant move, all you can do is stand and look at them kill you in 3 easy steps.
whatever shit those things pull, it's way worse than holy glue.
Age of Conan is a nice game to play a little off once in a while. but as for pvp... it's not even on the scale of neocrons.
However, if you were to put them on the same scale.

play past level 40
classes balance out, rangers are hugely OP pre level 40 for pvp
they balance out at 80
neocron pvp is the best i'v had, but there are't enough players and clipping destroys the fun
Where as assassins become useless piles of shit past 40, well they would be better if the DAMN ITEMS WERE FIXED AND GAVE THE PROPER STATS

but i'v only lost about three 1v1 fights with my sin, and i'v had countless 1v1's
sins must get tweaked soon i'm sure =/

Rangers are pretty weak, sure they can root you, but once you get free its one combo and cc before they drop.
Assassin's are just terrible.
Guardians and barbs rape ass.

bear shaman rocks, only lost a few 1 on 1's with my assaisn and one was to a bs in my guild
but you don't get your "main skills" until level 15, when you hit 15 with any mage or healer class they become about x10 better..
