Does the servers being down have anything to do with why I can't access Account Info to change the passwords on my accounts has this something to do with the servers being down or is it a different issue all together?
It looks like a general thing rather than something Terra-specific. All looks to be related.

Apparently the servers themselves are ok. If you're in-game, stay in game is the advice. Looks to be a reachability problem rather than anything more serious.

the problem is that the client resets the whole netbaseip settings in neocron.ini and updater.ini to localmachine so there wont be a server for sure

of course thats because the servers changed the adress the game is looking for to 127.0.0.0:7000 thats ur computer and there is of course no nc server running
Just chucking this in here, to see if it helps. The timeout is very, very fast if indeed it is a reachability issue.

guys listen:
if u change the server ip in the updater ini he connects to the server didnt find him and resets to default "127.0.0.0" so the updateserver must be down or something...

Its not a space game. They're covertly making Neocron 3 with no bugs, no lag, finished missions, a reason for WOC 5, anti-cheat software, totally balanced weapons, item-tracking, player shops, jet packs, mechs... omg. I mustn't say more. I'm getting all excited ^_^
If they could start to rework PvP and PvE system (Did not say balance) it would be a first good thing xD
not that I hate p2 and OPs anymore but, everything need changes :P

For what its worth, I was able to fool the Launcher into launching the client with the correct IP address of the Neocron 2 Server, but once it loads the client.exe there must be further communication necessary with the logon/info server (perhaps, for user / password authentication), and at that point it will not return the list of Terra/Mars etc.
So its more than just the Launcher HTML that is down. I suspect an underlying service or connected server has crashed.

yep exactly what i just thought a few minutes ago coz eddies account is working but my account just worked 1 time a few minutes ago
ok now i fished a message the connection to the server is done but the auth connection timed out that means the server whoīs checkin the auth of the users is down
nice that there is no response from KK himself about that :) i just remember in NC1 times when the serverīs are down hundreds of players spamed the forums :) but now most of the players are just ignoring it when nc is offline :)
heh, Ive learned that KK ignores us no matter what we do or say, so whats the point of even saying anything? KK will take care of it eventually.

The game servers are still running. The server hosting the launcher page seems to have some trouble. Our tech department will look into that issue asap.

I've just received new information. The launcher page is not reachable due to technical issues at our server provider. All we can do right now is to wait that their tech department is fixing these issues.

The method you are using to connect is not a legitimite way to connect to the servers and is being tracked by our logs. I can only ask you to wait until the regular launcher page is available again.

just open ur updater.ini fill in the correct ip wich is: 62.140.29.50 and then make it wright protect so u can start with the launcher aswell HF

Don't use this backdoor or there's a chance your account will be flagged as a hacker - the system automatically logs all such attempts. I know this is taking some time but please be patient.

Whatever anyway, what's the point, most of the players are maybe not even coming to the forums, and most of who does won't probably connect to Neocron that way. So why bother going there if there's no one ?

surely there's people that have always used client.exe to start the game? i've never noticed any difference, other than it saves time.. and i've only ever used the launcher to start the game when there's been a patch.. what am i missing out on by not starting the game with client.exe? cause i've done it for years...
also i've been able to connect to the server at any time over the past 12 hours while it's been " broken" without needing to change anything in the .ini files... no.. please.. don't hit me with that hammer.. there's no label saying DO NOT USE CLIENT.EXE AT ALL COSTS :/

Try editing World of warcraft files and see where that gets you, the same applies in this case.... Anyway, what would it matter if i did pay full price for a car with no wheels? My choice to hand over the money...

OK so am I missing something? It's not OK to bypass the Neocron Launcher and it's not OK to disable patch updates or change your .INI's? Doesn't the uNex Launcher, that received the KK seal of approval, allow for all of these things to be done?

Dont know much about that but if they have allowed the uNex launcher these privelidges it doesnt mean that the same privelidge applies directly to us? :confused:

The thing I'm not clear about is what people are doing to get into Neocron, if its just the launching of client.exe or the write protecting of updater.ini, it doesn't seem too bad a crime in these special circumstances. If its something further than that then I guess we'll have to wait.
The problem comes if Neocron will remain down for more than 24hours, I would hope an approved workaround could be posted for everyone to use.
I think you can get to the in-game login screen but no further. I suspect that the people who are still in-game have been there the whole time.

There is definately a reasoning behind disallowing starting the client.exe directly.
You are free to use this workaround, but you need to be aware, that - if in doubt of purpose - this can / will be interpretated as a breach of rules and therefor punished correspondingly.
Therefor KK CAN NOT endorse it and HAVE TO stay strict.
Hope the launcher will be online soon that i can deactivate my accounts.

Thats how far I got last night by fooling the launcher, however, without any trace of sarcasm, I would be truly suprised if people had been running their Neocron client for 18 hours without the memory leak causing a crash. I often go afk in game and 3-4 hours seems to be the average before I lose the connection or client.
Therefore KK CAN NOT endorse it and HAVE TO stay strict.
I think its just people's natural enthusiasm to find a way to play when they know the servers are actually up. I can understand KK's position, but equally they must sympathise with resourceful players ;)

I actually think KK's record with stability is very good in Neocron 2, the servers are not often down at all.

Well can't an KK host a mirror for the launcher for runners to use in the mean time?
I was about to write that they couldn't do that without letting us modify the updater.ini, but then I realised the the launcher website is actually there (you get a blank page but its still there), so perhaps they could bring up the ancillary functions of the launcher/info server and put in a re-direct. It would depend on the complexity of that info server though.
Its all speculation really, KK will know these things better than us ;)

At least not anymore. 3 hours ago i was able to log in several times that way. Now i get stuck in connecting to info server.
Well what should I say. The situation realy sucks big time. And it's a pitty stuff like that (problems at hosting company) happen several times a year. KK realy should shorten the next month payment to that hoster, for not doing a good job.

well i only reactivated about a week ago after quiting for over half a year .. mby even as long as a year .... even tho i knew it allready its things like this that make people not wan't to play ... i know some of it can't be helped ... but when so many things go wrong ... people tend not to see that and just not play ... i am sure kk have heared this a million times ... and i belive they listen .. but seriously they need to listen harder .. or try harder ... as i am pis*ed that after all this time of not playing, my first experiance back playing is this happening ... i might yet again not reactivate my acount .. i have lost items in game due to bugs and not been compensated several times ... and been F**ked about so much by kk it's wearing very thin now .. if i don't get some kind of compensation for my hard erned cash given to kk for play time that i cannot use .. then they will again lose a loyal customer ... i'm sure this goes for more than just me ....

On the other hand, warning people not to login using the client.exe because they could be called hackers is just treating the community badly. If it works for them, then let them play...
At the end of the day Neocron is a business, using a subscription method of payment. Telling someone they cannot play for something they are paying for is going to get you less subscriptions. KK, you cannot afford to lose more subscriptions.
So what I would say to the community is that, calm down play if you can, go do something else if you can't. It is not KK's fault that the launcher is down.
To KK, I would say; if the community can access the servers using the client.exe, then not only let them, but tell them the way for the work-around. You should be doing everything in your power to let the community get what they have payed for.

BUT when you add it up with all the other things that made me quit in the first place .. like losing items and not getting them back because of bugs that have been around for years and still not been fixed .... totaling a hell of a lot more than 20 hours playing time throughout the whole time i have played..... and getting diddy squat back in return from kk ....NOT EVEN A SORRY!!!!!

It is not fixed and not a solution. We are saying that for a reason not just because we got nothing better to do.
Connecting to the game bypassing the Neocron launcher is not legitimite and will be logged. Simple as it is.
Sorry to jack the thread here, but what about the Linux clients that can't use the launcher to launch the Client? We can only update the game with it, we can't launch the client or else the game crashes.
I quit using the launcher once I started playing in Linux, and have since kept running it straight from Client.exe in Windows. Much faster load, and less problems with XP and Microcrap.
OK wtf now? The server are still dead.....cmon KK press the restart button on that goddamn computer...

This is completely unacceptable. As an IT professional, our clients(who are also on monthly payment schedules) would have fired us by now, not so much for the fact that a server/application has failed or the amount of downtime, but mainly for the lack of communication to them. At the moment a service fails is when proper staff should come together to lay out a disaster recovery plan of attack, and relay that to the customer as well as the initial findings and possible solutions to the issue to include an aproximate TTL. Each server/router/switch and various applications/services are constantly monitored, and should one of those goes down for any reason our clients expect a telephone call within 30 minutes of the incident during normal working hours, and during normal work hours an available resource within 2 hours onsite to repair/assess. One engineer and one Helpdesk staff are always oncall(rotating phone schedule) also with a 2 hour turnaround after hours should a client call, Field Techs are always oncall in each market. Should the issue continue till the next day the VP of Network OPs, VP of Client Affairs, Director of Field Engineering and the CEO are on the phone with the owner/primary account holder of the business to again discuss best plan of attack. Fail or not, each attempt or outcome should be communicated to the client to ensure a sense of urgency and feeling of personal importance from the hosting company.
Things fail, sh*t goes wrong, and theres no hardware/software that can garauntee 100% fail-safe. The key to maintaining a multi-million dollar a year company with less than 25 staff members is our communication with our clients.
I feel completely let down by KK right about now.
On a side note can someone please also address the uNex questions i had earlier. Should the game come back online, is uNex Launcher an approved NC application? I love the ingame winamp controls and access to my parts list via easy commands.
And KK, I work with ISP's and Web Hosting companies all the time, this would have been resolved ages ago, even to the point of pulling my client's business and going elsewhere. IMO it sounds more as if someone forgot to pay a bill and now the data/account is being held in default of payment, with KK being to embarrassed to let on to the clients(all of us)

Four minutes after this post was created, one member of KK posted to confirm a problem and to also say it is being looked into! There's been at least one post from KK every day since then, giving us an update of what is going on.
So everyone take those LOM pills for your aggression skill, sit the 8| down and wait...! Have some patience people!
I've just received new information. The launcher page is not reachable due to technical issues at our server provider. All we can do right now is to wait that their tech department is fixing these issues.
I seriously don't understand why this is taking so long. I have my own IT business and work by myself for 2 schools and a few 200+ employee businesses. There is now way a customer of mine would ever have any type of business critical service unavailable for more than a 24 hr period. Usually I can have a quick fix solution implemented within 2-3 hours and an explanation of the issue within 20 minutes! There is really no excuse for the amount of time this is taking to get this service back online. If they can't fix the problem by now and there is another way to connect to the servers you really gotta take action and give your paying customers a temp fix. FFS It's a web service it's not even your auth server!
Don't use this backdoor or there's a chance your account will be flagged as a hacker - the system automatically logs all such attempts. I know this is taking some time but please be patient.

I think we have been patient by now and are seriously due a better explanation of what is going on and an ETA of when this will be fixed. Do you seriously expect any of your current player base to buy your new game? How do you plan to promote something new when what you already have is so broken? Bugs are still here from the BETA of this game, and so am I only because I have tried to put faith in this company because your ideas are so great. Too bad the implementation and communication is soo poor, and your tone to the community is always so demeaning.

I can understand people's increasing frustration, and I'm sure KK do too. I also think the community has by and large handled this downage well - I'm sure if we had gone down for 2 days during Neocron 1 the forums would have gone crazy.
Based on the response we have received it seems that the problem could be out of KK's hands, apart from completely moving the service to another datacenter. It also seems like this problem has not happened before in Neocron's history, so there are no contingency plans in place.
Lets see what happens today, hopefully we will get a result by the weekend, so we can get back to smacktalk and clipping ;)

P.s I saw new Indiana Jones yesterday. I had no expectations for it, so although it completely disappointed my mates, I thought it was ok.
I won't ruin the story for you guys, but there is one bit that is the most ridiculous PoS in film history:
Indie gets into a fridge in a town in the desert. A Nuclear bomb goes off, obliterates EVERYTHING in the town, APART from the fridge with Indie inside, which miraculously gets flown about 2 - 3 miles away, hits the desert ground, bounces on for a good while...... and then Indie gets out of it completely unscathed. The fridge is likewise a little scratched but fine..
Indie later gets scrubbed down a bit for radiation poisoning but that's it...
Worst scene I have ever seen in my life.....

Yeh he saw that the bomb was about to go off, so he saw a lead lined fridge and got in.
There is no way that the fridge nor Indie would have survived.... Not only would it have melted, but he would have been fried inside.
There are more ridiculous situations in the film, which as it is Indiana Jones, you have to give him a little bit of leeway, but still... wtf was Spielberg and Lucas thinking with the nuclear bomb scene. They've gone into their own little bubbles of what reality is and isn't..

It is no longer possible to login. The account server died slowly and without any noticable indication. There were a few peeps on the server but no new logins are possible since then.

What about those people that have paid and intend on staying, assuming this outage takes a week or so to repair, because it's the weekend tomorrow, back holiday monday, so as far as I can tell it is very likely there will be no NC until perhaps Tuesday or Wednesday at the earliest assuming the company with the downed server doesn't work weekends which is very likely.
By Tuesday I will have paid (roughly) Ģ4.50 for a pay monthly game I can't play.

Well if this circumstance is making you think again, I'm not sure why. This is not KK's problem. When it is fixed I highly doubt it's ever going to be as bad as this if it happens again. The next time, the company who is responsible is going to actually have some sort of backup ready, because they won't want to be caught with their pants down all over again.
Many of the community is screaming at KK to do something. I bet many people at KK are screaming at this company!

I think the lack of story line/events is to do with lack of population who take part in events, take the Master Hunter Event, how many people have signed up? half a dozen or so, Around peek time I think there's what eighty or more people online? So only 7.5% of Nc population take part in events, not a lot of motivation for KK to make events is there? I can under stand some events like MOTU and GM Auction, MOTU being ruled by "the best" and Auctions being ruled by R2K buying everything, puts you off bothering to make the effort to collect the junk to trade for gm coins to bid...
Last Auction I just sold my coins and made over ten mill, was well worth it since some guy brought everything and out bided even R2K, I heard people saying he was accused of breaking the rules but that's besides the point, I know I don't stand a chance of getting a GOLD pa or any items I want, so why bother coming to the auction?
I plan on doing some mini-player events for my clan since I can't stand P2 fighting, it will give us something to do, I'm sure someone will rip into me, but tbh I'd rather play COD4 for FPS and NC for RP. At least in COD people don't whine when they loose lmfao

Because of the current problems we face the event will be moved to june 7th.
The deadline will also be extended till june 6th so you can still enlist to this event.

Hopefully the data is secure as some people were still able to log in by bypassing the launcher for a while after the problem appeared. Unfortunately they won't provide a work around for the launcher temporarily. Instead they wait while some remote monkeys fiddle with a server that is apparently above their knowledge of fixing else it would be done by now. They seem to forget a lot of the community knows enough about servers to know that this is never acceptable in any work enviorment.
The ability to provide an alternate login for this game is an option they are completely ignoring at this point. I'm appauled.

Why should a weekend matter when your paid service is down. They better work on it 24/7 till it's fixed IMO.

Well both my accounts where already canceled, so I could change the payment from 1 month to 3 months, while I could care less about refunds as I just want to play as this is my last full week off as the major busy season for my job starts next month, I am off till Sunday, as I have nothing else to do other then play NC, I spend since Wednesday afternoon basically wanting to bash my head off a wall in boredom.
This is one of those cases where someone in-house should be working on a more proactive solution then waiting on a web host to solve the problem.
Well at least I have a new addition to keep me busy while they are down :p

I think we have been patient by now and are seriously due a better explanation of what is going on and an ETA of when this will be fixed. Do you seriously expect any of your current player base to buy your new game? How do you plan to promote something new when what you already have is so broken? Bugs are still here from the BETA of this game, and so am I only because I have tried to put faith in this company because your ideas are so great. Too bad the implementation and communication is soo poor, and your tone to the community is always so demeaning.
well the guy who invented nc .. hasn't worked for them for a long time and alot of the origanal staff dont either... so tbh it's not even the current kk's idears .....

Never really got into Firefly enough to know the characters names as I don't watch a lot of TV and Space stopped showing it after it got canceled.

I originally downloaded it as I was being prodded a lot to pick it up. Suffice to say it hooked me and I got the DVD's and go to the annual charity showing up in Toronto every year.

But really, now that it's been close to 2 days of downtime are you still telling us NO ETA? Can you at least tell us if we should even expect any action over the weekend? All we have been informed to this point, including the announcement thread is pretty obvious stuff with no real info on the issue and what exactly is being done to resolve it.

I spent 2 and a half years in Hamilton as a kid in the late 80's and haven't been back since, but I have to say it isn't that bad since I also spent time in Sarnia(Chemical Valley is awful), I have spent the last 10 years in London, and I try avoiding leaving the city when ever possible.
Im now waiting for a full week refund....if its not fixed for the weekend...

Since your the only ones speaking to us, probebly due to the fact that KK's must be aliens of some kind who cannot communicate with paying customers, I must ask questions.
We the players have been patient and understanding enough now and it's time for some direct answers to the questions that are being given to you. OMG, I just remembered I left a batch of redflash cooking off in the apt ......wonder if NC will be a burned hulk when we get back. At the least I will not be selling on the corner outside P2 next week, my usual customers will need to secure their supply elsewhere as I am not able to tell you when my lab will be back up until I can get inside and see the damage. Sure hope the neighbors didn't report smoke or something or I will be answering questions in the NCPD.
Wonder if Claire' would consider posting bail.
I wish at least KK will use this situation to add a new patch with new cool features and adjustments that people have been taking the time to pull out over 500 ideas in the so called 'Brainports' that has stayed completely a waste of fuckin time since 6 months or so.

Doesnt KK have like Audits on the Softwear and the servers or mantanice i dont think u do cos if u was to have checks on the servers and everything everyweek you would have noticed things wasnt running right and got it fixed or should have got it fixed before it grow it to this mess.
