Keep Virgin from destroying the internet...

So good old Virgin is now gone corrupted lol!

The new CEO of Virgin Media, Neil Berkett, has openly stated in an interview that they think net neutrality is “a load of bollocks” and claimed they're already doing deals to deliver some people’s content faster than others. They would then put websites and services that don't pay Virgin in the "slow lane", meaning those sites would load slowly and cause most users to give up using them, feeling forced to use whatever Virgin wants to push through their network.
This is not the first time an internet provider infringes upon net neutrality, but it is the first time that an ISP so brutally states that they simply plan to limit internet access to a television-like system in which the access provider completely regulates the content you have access to.

Not once everyone else follows suit. BT will pick it up soon enough if Virgin Media are allowed to do this.

show me a proper transcript of it all and i will be more inclined to believe it. it looks like its been taken out of context in all honesty. thats the mediots (thanks al :P) for you.

first off neil berkett has been in charge for quite some time as acting ceo of the company. i found a link about the i player too saying they are gonna charge bbc a premium rate for the iplayer to run on the virgin interactive service. this is a new weapon in the war against sky from what i have been told as they are moving in a different direction than trying to compete pound for pound against sky.

sooooo. i think the article is either A. a load of shit or B a load of shit.

well, there is another source, unfortunatelly in German: http://www.intern.de/news/neue--meldungen/--200804143611.html

At the end of the article there are 2 links to english articles concerning that topic.

what a lame video, its not structured at all, they seem like a bunch of hippies TRYING to make a point but failing.

oh and that massive cleavage in the beginning of the video isnt going to help making their point

they should stop looking and acting like a bunch of hippies and put some structure in it!

thats the one i read which made me think it really is a load of shit. i checked it up here too and i find nothing in reference to any info. i get privvy to alot more info internally than externally and i havent seen any reference to this interview which is a bit odd.

As I said I was pointed to it by the BBC from here (http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2008/04/interesting_stuff_150408.html) who give the impression of having read it themselves.

So, it's not availble online for free, yet, and I dunno if they print that on paper.

Anyway, I see an increasing amount of companies getting a lot of flak when pulling stupid stunts, and result in actual consumer action. See this (http://www.boingboing.net/2008/04/13/virgin-media-ceo-net.html) and this (http://www.antipope.org/charlie/blog-static/2008/04/brand_dilution.html) in regard to this issue (be it valid or not, and no, they don't contain more info on the actual source).

Just went to see if the university of Leeds subscribes to that magazine - apparently they did between 1928 and 1932 but not any more.

LMAO
The fact that you were actually able to find out what years they were subscribed is bizarre. :wtf:
