If you were from the Tom & Jerry generation you'd have been born somewhere between 1940 and 1965. You may be more of a Tiny Toons or Ren & Stimpy gen.

lol, I didn't mean from when they started, but Cartoon Network was still running Tom & Jerry about 5 hours a day when I was a little kid, so I grew up with Tom & Jerry on the telly most of the time, so I was raised with them, so okay, I am the Cartoon Networks - Tom & Jerry Generation.

Jodo

Do you see yourself as more of a Cow or Chicken? Or perhaps the Red Guy? :p

Mighty Max
18-03-08, 21:37
I'd call myself also as a member of the Tom&Jerry generation as that was nearly the only cartoon beside the peanuts before private broadcasters came up.

"Vorsicht, hier kommt ein Karton!" (ger for: Caution, here comes a carto(o)n) with a kid jumping in or out a carton box was the video-jingle before any of the old cartoons iirc.

Tiny Toons & co were not on german TV before '86 afair (When the state's exclusive TV broadcasting rights fell)

I firmly class myself as a Transformers generation person. In fact, I recently bought the entire series and movie of the original series from the 80's. I'm so happy! :D :) :D :)

Tom & Jerry r still shown on cartoon network, my 3 y/o loves it, finds it absolutly hilarious.

Me, I loved You & Me as a kid with Cosmo & Dibs, also Pigeon Street

Jodo
19-03-08, 02:48
Cosmo & Dibs... Two candidates for being a Guy on Bonfire night if I ever saw one. Elmo too.
Pigeon street was quite cool, and a cartoon I fondly remember called Pole Position.
However, I fear we're a little OT.

nellus
19-03-08, 08:22
Was it Pigeon stret that had "Long distance Clara" the trucker woman? And while your going back there don't forget the moomins and a little bit later one of my favourites Fragil Rock......i always wanted to be a Doozer

Glok
19-03-08, 08:40
Fraggle Rock!!! Doozers were cool.. but the fraggles kept eating the things they built. Kinda an unrewarding life don't you think?

I think that was a lil before my time (not much tho :p) i was more of a pink panther/snoopy and all the stuff around there... i cant remember too much of what i used to watch as a kid. I do agree tho... it beats all the teletubbies crap they put on nowadays O_o

Well i am gonna claim VET status on this shit, Thundercats? Old nah man. I grew up on:-

- Chorlton and the Wheelies
- Bagpuss
- Captain Caveman!!!!!!!!
- Battle of the Planets (now that was an awsome cartoon)
- The clangers
- Mr Ben
- Magic Roundabout
- The wombles
- Godzilla
- Top Cat
and who could forget Scooby Doo before that scrappy idiot who joined them :p
.............yes i am old.....

William Antrim
19-03-08, 12:38
Godzilla and the Golden Guardians! YES MATE!

Mr Malone - the stuff StevenJ is talking about is all early to mid 80's, Snoopy and Peanuts etc was (as far as I remember) a bit earlier but they may have repeated it.

Top Cat, The Wombles... I wanted to be Uncle Bulgaria tbh.

I used to love Fraggle Rock too, I think EVERYONE wanted to be a Doozer because they were always getting into trouble and they had those little cars that they drove around in.

Transformers used to rock tbh, like it was the BEST show on tv tbh, like better than ANYTHING else except the A-team but thats for another thread. If anyone fancies having a look at most of these cartoons they are mostly on Youtube you know. I watched the Transformers movie (when Megatron turns into Galvatron) on there a few months ago and you can get the entirety of season 1 if you look hard enough.

Ulysses.... haha awesome.

Do you remember Jace and the Wheeled Warriors at all Steven? The monster mines and all that stuff, that show was bad ass.

Nellus yes, Long distance clara was probably the first cartoon lesbian on Tv. haha.

Magic Roundabout.... what can we say about it that has not already been said... awesome.

(Sorry for taking the whole thread OT btw guys)

Nellus yes, Long distance clara was probably the first cartoon lesbian on Tv. haha.

Yeah, but whilst I liked it, it doesn't rank with the others I think... was that with Tibor the wheely dealy vehicle R2D2 thing? Or was that something else?

I can still bloody remember the tune for L.D. Clara... long-distance-claaa-raaaaaa!

And... Molly & Polly, are two of a kind... They look just the same.. when seen from behind :wtf:

Oh, and i didnt like the wombles, they scared meYou're scared of everything. Though yes, Wombles terrified me too. I used to have a large Womble teddy, and can very vividly remember scaring the shit out of mysef in bed one night, by being led in bed in the dark and holding it up to my face so it was staring at me down it's nose... very frightening stuff.

Ahh Willow the wisp, evil edna used to scare the crap out of me tho.
<3 Willow the wisp. I had all the books that were produced with the series. I loved evil edna especially.. she was my favourite character. Even though I couldn't really draw as a kid, I could actually draw Edna quite well and frequently did, much to the chagrin of my schoolteachers when I should have been working :p

Used to love playschool aswell with Big Ted, Little Ted, Humpty Dumpty, Jemima & the 1 everyone forgets, Hambel.OMG, I remember Play School quite well; it was the very first programme I remember. I was very choosy which characters I liked and every time I saw Hamble, I just wanted to stamp on her face.

Other BBC2 classics included the Flumps. (I heard the theme tune to that on a TV ad last night). I didn't watch ITV much, but when I did, it was only for Rainbow and Mooncat. Anyone remember Mooncat? Beryl Reid was the storyteller and I remember her being such a nice old dear.

But the one program I used to enjoy the most - as it really got young brains puzzling things out - was Jigsaw. My favourite character in that programme makes a return next week... CLICK TO BE HAUNTED! (http://www.noseybonk.com)

As for cartoons, I loved Dungeons and Dragons and Godzilla. Of course, no Saturday morning was complete without BATTLE OF THE PLANETS!

Now there was one cartoon I was quite fascinated with.. anyone remember this? (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=huJlDsfXf5U)

Gummybears didnt come to Denmark until I was up in my teens, but I've seen a couple episodes.

Also there was a cartoon I used to watch, don't remember much about it since I was about four at the time, and i used to get up at 5am to watch it in a glazed state. but it had these two cars that transformed to go over water and perhaps fly... red one and blue one, (red had a female driver, blue had a bloke)

Was really cool though.

 did you get Desertion of the Dinobots?

Yup, all of them. The Complete Series. (https://www.dvd.co.uk/DVD/Transformers-The-Complete-Boxset/MTD5267/product.htm?sr=sa) That story is a two parter as well. All the episodes are about 22 mins long totalling in about 30 hours of Transformers. :D The artwork was way more iffy than in the comics though.

Also, Visionaries was cool and another cartoon I can't quite remember the name of where 3 blokes had special suits so they could bolt things onto themselves like huge guns or stuff to make them fly or whatever.

Thats what Transformers originally was, though in their defence, they came up with a way better toy line than anyone else ever has.

Oh and for the record, I HATE the Magic Roundabout. Always have, always will.
My girlfriend is a fan of The Flumps, Bod, Bagpuss and Chorlton and the Wheelies all of which I don't like either. I liked The Flumps and Bagpuss when I was very young but quickly went off them.

Recently saw summat on facebook that said Neil Buchanan was dead 8| but apparently he's not (im still confused now) and i continued on to find a myspace page which appears to be his or someone having sum fun....

'Finders Keepers began as a training program we set up teaching kids how to raid houses. We'd get 'em fucked on crystal meth then shout 'WHAT TIME IS IT KIDS???!!!!', To which they'd shout 'ROOM RAIDING TIME!!!!!' and proceed to trash the fuck out of whoevers house we took the little bastards to, and steal whatever items we told them we wanted'

Looking back on his antics now and comparing it with the crap on TV for young uns nowadays kinda makes ya wonder

I know this thread has been dead nearly a year but for some reason, a couple of days ago, I remembered "Tales From Fat Tulips Garden" (with Tony "Baldric" Robinson) and felt the need to share it. I remember quite enjoying the daftness of it all.

Hey.... if you're going to resurrect a thread, do it right.

Batman the Animated Series. That rocked hardcore! I admit to watching some Power Rangers (sniff) and (hack hack cough forget about the other stuff). I was coming up during the time when Fox afternoon had proper afternoon cartoons and then finished up with the Simpsons and Tim the Tool Time Guy. All the hours I wasted...

Transformers, He-Man, Inspector Gadget, Carebears and whatever they showed on the FUN FACTORY!

I did skip that crappy "My Little Pony" tho :P

Watched it on saturday morning on Sky Channel then watched THE SAME EPISODES the next morning again.

I don't remember what I watched before age 10, must've been stuff like Tom & Jerry.

This, is the Evergreen Forest. Quiet, peaceful, serene. That is until Bert Raccoon wakes up! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXsjzcC4Jdw)

Also, did anyone else ever think Cyril Sneer = cigar chomping mancunian knicker magnate M. Baldwin?
