Righty then, new thread for pics and stuff about the Notts event.
Warning: Pic heavy.
Managed to get up in time on Friday, I had been drinking the night before, wandered up to Notts and met Brams in the station. We then went to look for the hotel to dump stuff off.
Brams caught unawares at a crossing:
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/Muffdemon/Picture042.jpg
Bags dumped and tea consumed we did the only thing that seemed appropriate, drink.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/Muffdemon/Picture043.jpg
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/Muffdemon/Picture044.jpg
We drank a lot in fact, and had a burger.
Then Dave and Sam turned up (Breakaway and logan_storm) and we drank more, as is our custom.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/Muffdemon/Picture045.jpg
Then we drank more....

Was definitely a good fun night. Sorry I bailed pretty early.. my warm bed was beckoning.
So what were you all drinking and how much did a round come to?
Dribble Joy
10-12-07, 15:13
The whole group didn't get rounds, as some of us had all ready had about 7 pints by the time we were all there and another 15 would have killed us.
Most of us had smaller 2-4 man rounds. I think the most expensive one was in Walkabout early on Saturday, when Brammers got him, Triv and Dave a bottle of strawberry pear cider at around a whopping 3.40 a bottle. I had to pay 2.35 for a pint of Smith's.
Fortunately we spent a lot of the night in a 'Spoons or Lloyds where I didn't have to pay more than about 1.89 for some decent real ale.
Theres still loads more pics to post...anyone?

I'm sure if they are in need of hosting space, I'm quietly convinced Brammers wouldn't mind hosting them on the THN :) But speak to Bram first :P

OK....
Day Two.
Brammers and me were feeling the night before....
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/Muffdemon/Picture051.jpg
After some tea we went to a local greasy spoon and had some scoff.
After the mailing and phoning of people we went to Walkabout, which was cold and very pricey.
Triv found us and we vacated to elsewhere.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/Muffdemon/Picture052.jpg
Went to the Bell, and had some beer, then we went to spoons. I drew an NC logo and a brief sketch of DJ.
Dave drew a dragon, which was the start of the montage.

Hoder and Lodar turned up..

As did Judge, he's clearly done something naughty and is trying to hide it from the glare of Triv.

As a result, much beer is consumed.
We then move to the Pit & Pendulum, where the trend continues.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/Muffdemon/Picture062.jpg

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/Muffdemon/Picture078.jpg
We then retire for the night. Chips and Pie are bought.....
Day Three.
The Pie is eaten. It is cold and slimey.
We meet up with Hoder, Lodar and Triv and hit up spoons.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/Muffdemon/Picture079.jpg
We get a load of food and the rest of the lads appear.
http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/Muffdemon/Picture080.jpg
Beer (in my case, a lot of Earl Grey) and scoff is consumed.
We then buggar off home in various directions.

Dragon Force...
Meh, im more of a Pop man.
Used to like britney spears before you went loco.
Still Back street boys are returning, so they will do.
My favorite bar was Revolutions, played my type of music, and why was I the only one dancing :(
Its a shame that they had a DJ rather than just letting people play stuff on the Jukebox. The DJ only played a couple of good things (at least, whilst I was there)... Dragonforce being once of them. Breakaway asked for Sonata Arctica but to no avail.

The Pit is an excellent bar. Could have done with a better DJ though.
Get some proper Extreme Metal going.

Probably more frantic, with some headbanging... maybe a bit of air guitar as well.

Sounds like the car journey there with Lodar... if I had Bohemian Rhapsody on CD it would be like Wayne's World all over again.
Had to make do with Slade....
If you really thought that Living on a Prayer, and the Pit and Pendulum was scary... man there are some places in Notts (and probably most cities) that would make you actually shit yourself.

Lol, I went up to request dragonforce with breakaway and left with the number off the girl who was helping out with the DJing. So I can't complain too much.
Yep that had to be living on a prayer, the look on my face also confirms it. As for the Pit, I'd heard so much about the bookcase-opening toilet doors only to find they were wedged open. Disappointing. :(
/edit: And Hoder, I still think Wizzard > Slade. Incidentally, there wasn't as much Crimbo tunage down in Notts as I would have liked.
oh, i stand corrected lol. thinking back at it now my face does look like im singing living on a prayer lol. yeah it sucked that not no crimbo songs where played :( . any idea when the manchester one will be? same time next year kinda thing?.

Easter :p
Cool to see some of the pictures posted, yes i did get rather tired as i'd only had 5 hours sleep, got up at 7, drove all the bloody way there and then was on the drink for 12 hours! :p (i know, excuses, excuses ;))
That strawberry cider was tasty, although rather expensive.

Easter, eh? :D
Nice and early, March 23rd is Easter, so can I tentatively propose the following:
Friday March 21st, Manchester or Leeds? If we do it on a Friday, we'll avoid Sunday and Easter Sunday public transport (and just have Good Friday to deal with...), and Saturday night would also be available for the more hardened boozers? :D

anytime around easter is good for me, leeds in half an hour down road from me but i dont have a clue where anything is ( cept ikea, dont ask!) and dont know manchester either so i aint fussed which we go to.... i would say come to York, but the nights out aint the best, maybe its just the people i go out with? :(
I think its safe to say that this will definately be happening around March/April time as a fair few seem up for it

Sounds like a plan :)
Whatever is decided, we need to fix a date with a little more notice than last time. That way, the travelodge rooms can be booked at a discount. The biggest discounts are given when booked at least 21 days in advance.
Whatever is decided, we need to fix a date with a little more notice than last time. That way, the travelodge rooms can be booked at a discount. The biggest discounts are given when booked at least 21 days in advance.I guess we set a tentative date of the 21st then, and if nobody strongly objects by, say, Tuesday that's settled?
After speaking to everyone last Saturday, choices seem to be Leeds or Manchester? Either is good for me.
(PS - the last one was planned in September!)
I'm in Leeds, so can guide you around various bars and what have you (although I think I've only once been out on a friday/saturday night - far cheaper and more pleaseant to keep to the week as a student) or I dare say I could make my way over to manchester.
As you know I know Manchester very well, and I must say one problem we may have is that with such a diverse bunch, it might be difficult finding places to suit everybody. The size and sparcity of the city itself may also compound this problem. Plus I don't really want to be captain! :p
That said I'm up for Manchester if everyone else is.
I think as long as the beer is a decent price and you don't need to wear a kevlar vest as a safety precaution then that'll suit everyone really. That's generally all I ask for in a night out anyway. :)
Leeds is pretty grouped togeher into a city centre. We may have to stay put a lot more than you lot did in Nottingham though - lots of places start charging to get in at weekends
ok....
so the date has been set, i got no problems with that, ill book the day off work by tuesday if all go's well and theres no objections.... the next thing we need to sort out is where....
Leeds or Manchester..... i aint fussed about either, we got Cmastar for our guide in leeds, cept i dont like the idea of been sat in the same place all nite and dont wanna be spending the earth getting in diff places.
Lodar has a reasonable knowledge of Manchester... not sure how places work in manchester, im assuming it will be similar to leeds and york (having to pay to get in sum places after say 11pm)
Either way, both destinations are reasonably close (20mins train to leeds and 1hr 20 to Manchester... which is alot less than nottingham so im happy :p )
Possible make a vote??
I'm afraid i wont be able to make it, sorry lads, i need all the money i can get now for mein car, but nearer the time i may change my mind so we will see
Niddy is from Manchester too isn't he? It'd be interesting to meet the man himself.
Although, we'd probably have to protect him from assassins sent by ex forum users if he did turn up. 8|
A few facts that may sway decisions:
Manchester's two most convenient Travelodges don't have cheap saver rooms available that weekend as it's a bank holiday. Staying conveniently close to Manc city centre will set you back £71 to £81 per room per night. There are rooms available at the sportcity hotel for £39 but it's a good taxi ride away.
The two closest to Leeds centre on the other hand have £29 saver rooms available on the Friday only. Saturday will cost £60.
So I guess it comes down to people's budgets. Saver rooms get booked up pretty quickly and once booked, there is no refund or exchange if anyone changes their mind. That's what makes it so cheap.
Like CMaster said, Leeds is all in one place, whereas Manchester involves a fair old walk.
Discuss.
At first I thought that weekend was going to clash with another event, but it doesn't so the date is good for me.
Location Hmm.... either way, I'm going to have to travel a long way, but thats not a big issue for me!
I have been to Manchester once, but never got to see the nightlife and pubs that Manchester has to offer. As for Leeds, I've never been there so that is also a good option as well.
Also for the rail travelers, if you travel up on a Friday, and travel back on a Sunday the cheapest fare is about 87 quid, but if you go back Saturday it's 48 quid.
Well Leeds is that much closer to me so based on that and the fact that it would be cheaper I vote for Leeds. However if Manchester ends up being where we go I will still most likely be there :)
Either is good for me too - not much help, eh? :D
Leeds - 1 hour train
Manchester - 1 hour bus
If people have no preference, and either is good for folks, given the concentration of bars, and cheaper rooms Leeds seems the better option?
/me votes Leeds
Been to Manchester, however it is spread out, never been to Leeds and it sounds the cheapest so I think Leeds wins overall there.
Dribble Joy

Don't mind on actual location, but going by hotels and the more central nature of Leeds, that seems to be a form of a plan.

Both rock for a night out. I have been to Leeds and Manchester before. Both are amazing. Whichever you pick is going to be a top night out.

When is it? March/April?
I can possibly make it, Leeds is fine to get to, its only an hour from here. Depends on money thats all as I will be jobless for about a month come the end of march.
Either central leeds Travelodges, and both the Arrmouries and central leeds Holiday Inn are in quite reasonable loactions.
On the other hand, if anybody wants some slightly fancier accomodation, Number 42 (http://www.42thecalls.co.uk/) is generally considered Leed's best hotel - and cheaper than the Radisson (although apparently not the Hilton).
Oh, and for real cheap accomodation, there are two sofa beds in my lounge. These are only open to people that I already know mind.

Money granting both are fine. I should have a job before then ;)
Wow, i never thought everyone else would be up for another event so soon. Leeds seems to be the best choice thus far, i don't really mind where as i'm prepared to travel based on the fact that Nottingham was awesome.

Niddy gonna turn up to this one? :P
leeds is looking like the best option at the moment, due to the fact that places will be cheaper, plus as it will be a saturday the prices will be higher and alot of conjestion in manchester do to man city/ man utd away supporters comming down for the night. Leeds has my vote.

CM's drinkin' maps (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en&gl=uk&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=103254829708203124071.000441660edb40d85a8dc)
A selection of bars and pubs in Leeds, and the hotels so far mentioned.
Also including The Otley Run (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otley_Run)
There are countless more bars and I haven't even started to add clubs yet. Rest assured that nowhere marked in the city centre (between the inner ring road motorway and the river) is a long way from another drinking hole.
