I'm currently in the process of making a Map of pepper park 1, as it stands, the downstairs primary combat zone (outside club veronique) is practically done, since kk decided not to respond to my pleas for use of a texture bundle, I've stuck with as near as I could find in the CS:S texturebase. These are a set of early screenshots in spectator view, stay tuned for live combat screenies and more. Please post opinions/suggestions here.

Give this man his textures.

I say if Reakktor decides not to respond, we imitate the PP1 textures with PShop/Gimp and send them over to Herrad to package them.

Edit: That's of course if they are high enough quality and look professional enough to be used in the map!!

in fact they are embedded in the map files, rather than having seperate libraries (quake/source engine).

I think the textures in use now look great - the whole thing looks superb in fact. I'm not sure the textures that are in use need replacing, to tell the truth.

What may possibly be an idea, is an attempt by the artistically inclined, helpful people to re-create the signs and posters used around PP. With those splattered all over the existing textures, I reckon it would feel just like the real PP.

Anything useful in the fansite kit?

Yeah that'd be really helpful, thats exactly what its missing, it needs a more scummy feel, if i got some o them, it'd darken the map too, which'd really give it the feel of being run by drug barrens etc :D

UPDATE:

Things are fallin a little behind schedule because of the sheer size of the map, sectors that may have taken 10 mins to create and light are takin 4x that because its jus so difficult to see what I'm actually drawing, and scaling becomes a case of redoin it 4 million times to make it perfect, so as it goes, i'll try and release a few screenies of fights (any volounteers PM me) and plod along, upstairs SHOULD be done before friday, then club veronique done over t'weekend, then finally NF and touch ups done for next wed

The problem is with copyright, most textures are taken from someone else, very few people completely design their own from scratch. Original textures are hard to come by.. ((The original train boxes in outzone storage 7-8 were taken from team fortress, there was a thread about this years ago with screenshots from each game.))

I don't like the textures from this thread, pepper-park has its own charm right now, one that is familiar (probably my subjective dated opinion).

About the Half-life map, great work! I've tried to make plaza1 before and never finished the project.. well done, it looks good

neocron maps are pretty simplistic, geometry-wise, but duplicating in this detail it isnt easy. very nice work..

Valve does have a MMO version of the Source engine. :)

I think it would be really cool if, once you finish PP1, you move on and add PP2 and PP3 to the map, so there would be a huge Pepper Park. :D

Oh dear god i wouldnt want to imagine how long that would take to compile, as it stands the map takes long to compile and we have to do it each time we want to test any changes we make on the map in CS:S. Although the map is coming along nicley original predictions may be off (Way off according to herrad).

Wasn't that what the Hosile Planet TC was meant to be using?
Though I haven't heard much about that tc in a long time so its probably no longer being worked on.

I recruited... or should i say he recruited himself, Delphi an old player who's as gay as they come, a good mapper though he's here tyo help with the GR atm, not sure if im gunna make it do anything, like maybe a random teleport, or leave it til ive done other areas of NC and have it teleport u between zones... NE way, heres sum screenies of VW shop and up stairs as it stands

Even still., if anything is slightly outta scale, then it'd have to be recompiuled, and in order to maintain the neocron feel, i have to use a shit-load of face lights which increases the buildtime staggeringly so. but in all fairness, i am deeply considering making other sectors, not pp2/3, more goin bak into plaza 3 then plaza 1, after all EVERYONE who plays NC knows p 1 and as its always been a safe sector I've never fought in there so that'd be cool.

I tried that last night, the compiling time was down and the lights were still in although it didnt update the map, it kept the previous version... It did complete i made sure of that.

For a period of time after the release of NC 2, P1 whas infact not a safezone and ive fought there on a couple of ocasions. Mostly jumping from building to building on my old melee tank trying to catch a droner killing my friends though.

well, i only joined NC bout 1 month prior to 2.1 goin live, so much so that i cant remember the old laser gun model... anyway, dad's conscripted me to work, so thats slowed map makin, however i promise I'll get club veronique started by monday, my previous schedules prolly gunna be moved back about a week tho but still, map's lookin ok so far, most of the more confusing MULTI-SECTORing's done now (not sure why that needed caps, it just felt right)

Hey guys, sorry not really had chance to work on this project what with real life getting in the way and all... however, recently reactivated and am on the ball once more!

also... would like to hear suggestions of other zones to attempt to build in source... this project has been really fun and i look forward to releasing the finished product. But please feel free to pm me/leave comments in this thread as to what u'd like to see next

Well, since PP1 isn't the main PvP zone anymore, I was thinking maybe you could make a P2 map.
What would make it really awesome is if you could simulate a zoneline that the players can whore, to make it just like Neocron!
