The recent discussion over LE'd clans (http://forum.neocron.com/showthread.php?t=140188) brought us different opinions, but no results. So here's the solution.

Like everybody would remember, there's a sleeping server: Neptune. Well, no one wants to play on Neptune anymore. So we got a spare server, in theory. This will be our new "RP-server". Where the "carebears" gather. Let's call it "Luna" and put up the following rules:

No LE. No SL. No Safezones. No PvP. Right. No PvP at all. OP fights are going to be PvM. Anarchy Breed, Cyborgs, Y-trooper or ceres mutants would randomly attack OPs, be defended by a clan and get hacked once to be covered until the next mutant attack.

Luna would be 1, 2 or 4slot, no matter. Everybody would start at 0/2, exp gain is slowed. This server would be for playing, not so much for capping.

Here's my bet: they day Luna goes online, Terra will be half empty. And half dead. That's what i mean by: "vote with your feet". Want to give it a try? Or just agree in LE clans, so that everyone will play on the same server?

Wouldnt touch that server with a 12 foot disenfected pure gold rod in a hazmat suit

and by your definition, i am a carebear among carebears in NC

How about waiting for a GMs confirmation before making any rash decisions? Your suggestions sound fun, i wouldn't mind thwarting an AB invasion. But unfortunately its not in our power to make these changes.

I dislike your approach.

Imo a few things could be slightly altered to...

a) make the RP and casual players more happy
b) make the PvP/OP-Fight fan more happy
c) make gankers more happy

what I would suggest is something along these lines:

additional brainslot for the LE
LE clans (no LE/non-LE mixed clans though)
LE is disabled in Battlefield sectors
LE is disabled in MB, TG Canyon and DoY
no GR-SI for non-LE
Vehicles can only be destroyed by Players on B-Sectors.

Copbots/CitySecurity in Plaza/Viarosso and Subway (incl NC entrance) attack non-LE on sight... anywhere else, they only enforece a 'no weapons' rule - no matter the faction.
Security in TG, and DoY attacks LE on sight
Soullight is being set to 0 for all chars, the SL display is removed from the HUD.

"Single/Team-barrier" of mobs in PvE moved to 85+ (60+ atm)
Moneyreward in PvE gets lowered to 30%

Some FSM items, parts of the rarepool and few other endgame items can only be aquired in MB, TG, OZ from smugglers - no trading with LE players
WP8-10 can only be aquired from CA-Vendors at Plaza - no trading with non-LE players
Nanites, Medkits, Psiboosters and other consumables (not ammo) get more expensive by 300%
Nanites etc. can be recycled with Chitin, Wood or other low TL junk.

Keep in mind this is just from teh top of me head on the general direction a "carebear" server could go... - not a "this is exactly how it must be done" list :p

Imo it's better creating a 'RP' Server through giving people a choice between the loyal citizen and the dodgy individual. Wont work with less than 30% server pops though I'm afraid.

Id rather try to piss with a viagra filled penis than to even see that server put up

I think you should have stated, "LE'd preference players only, need reply" as it's obvious what the rest will think, very little as usual. Way to offer constructive criticism guys.

I'd be interested, but I know it won't happen. This would be far more work and effort than implementing LE'd clans, and with the current pop's would likely kill the game in one swift move. Maybe it could work if and when we have a lot more people playing.

Lol, carebear server.... I can see with the populations we get at the moment that that server wont get many people on.

Although, I did like aKe`cj's idea. :p :p

Try it, why not?

The server isnt in use.
If no one will go there, no one will go there. I'm sure for the first small while it would be populated(I'd love to get zerged my Ceres troops :D) but I think it will suffer the same fate as neptune, that is high pops for a few weeks, and then people leaving. However I might be wrong, so why not try?

I'd also like to ask why we are saying that LE'd are casual/RP players? I play once or twice a day for 20min or so. Thats pretty casual, I love cyberpunk RP and I love PVP.

It's too late for more server changes.

It should never been anything other than 2 servers. International 4 slot pvp-orientated and international 1 slot rp-orientated.

But that idea itself is bullshit. Another server to divide the population even more? Just to try and prove the carebears right? No way.

Totally agree with Kid, I hate this whole 'divide' thing that's going on. So many people seem to think that you have to either be a carebear/RPer or some hardcore PvPer. There are so many people out there who combine the two, there's no need to be seperating ourselves into two 'groups' the pops are already low enough as it is.

As an RPer and as a PvPer, I agree too. Dividing the community doesn't help, the two 'sides' need to learn to live together.

Yup, such a lame idea :(

it's all about strengthening the diversity of playing styles. even if some anti-socials would disagree.

Roleplaying doesn't have to mean no-pvp, good roleplaying in a cyberpunk world may involve a lot of killing. "Roleplaying" is used far too frequently by people who are insecure about fighting directly with other players. Having a RP-Server that doesn't allow pvp is supporting the idea that pvp and roleplaying have to be separate.

The new server would have shitty roleplaying (based on the idea above) a very very low population, because it would be lower than terra to begin with and no one likes playing on an empty server. At best a new server could only bring people away from Terra, and I doubt it would attract more players to Neocron.

No to this idea.

Look man, the way i feel, let rpers do their thing, whatever, it doesnt effect pvp in the slightest as most of the people pvping now a days arent of the rp scene, so just let them run around rping and we can continue killing eachother/ourselves as we always have, they arent hurting anyone.

To get on the topic of the thread, this server idea is dumb, if we had a 50%+ pop on terra it could maybe work, but with a 14% pop at best that would leave terra with probably 8 or 9% pop and this other server with a 4 or 5% pop, yeah that sounds really fun, also LE'd clans ftl. KK designed the le so that it comes with certain penalties as pvp is pretty much the end game goal in NC, most of the items are geared toward pvp and ultimately so are most con setups, this is a pvp oriented game and if people dont want to take part in that fine, but the LE should still carry some penalties, i.e. no clans.

From what I can see, the ONLY use for an LE'd clan would be a tradeskill clan for those that want to be able to share cabs with their clan members without the risk of getting ganked when they went hunting for techs. LE'd clans are not the answer. Apartments that can be shared, however, might be a good alternative.

Having so many saftey locks in the game to prevent the occasional (or constant) ganking removes the fear factor that goes with the type of world that would definitely have such an atmosphere. Post-Apocalyptic worlds are SUPPOSED to be dangerous. They NEED to be able to create that kind of concern among players that plan to set off to hunt.

I used to be the leader of RogueNET; a N.E.X.T. clan back on Saturn. At the time (and probably still) the N.E.X.T. faction was known as a carebear faction... and rightly so. I began RogueNET for the purpose of tradeskill organization. All I wanted was to be able to farm techs, bring them to the clan apartment, research them, and build or trade them off...lather, rinse, repeat...

Finally, there was a big problem with this massive Black Dragon clan that was controlling the entire map and also terrorizing other players at every turn. Nobody without an LE was safe outside of safe zones...thus the fear factor was created. Now, at first glance, this situation would make one think something like, "This is stupid! Now the game is no fun and no one can level or hunt without being killed!" Of course, that was the initial response. But something else happened. The entire NEXT faction and other Pro-city factions joined together in a massive meeting. My clan and I attended, of course, and there was a discussion about what to do about this terrible menace. THAT IS ROLE PLAYING! That one event alone made NC about twice as fun for a lot of runners simply because they were feeling a sense of purpose aside from getting 5 slot rares and every vehicle and MC5 chip in the game. That meeting was the beginning of an EPIC time period for my clan and I. We were elected the official N.E.X.T. representative clan and grew by almost one hundred members! There was a massive war with a lot of anti-city and pro-city clans going at it for three days strait! and best of all, there was betrayal! That's right, The City Mercs (can't remember the clan name) clan came, helped us fight off TG, and then demanded that we pay them for the OP or they would take it from us right there. We were mostly dead from the previous fight and a bit more than irritated at them for the treachery. IT WAS SO COOL!!!

Now...why would anyone trade that for some OP fight with Y-reps...?

Oh btw, we didnt sell it to them. we fought, died, GR'ed to NC, and began planning our next attack. :D

Someone invent a time machine, so we can all go back to before NC1 died!

Loooong quote ;)Kind of the same happened back on uranus.

Why exactly it all went wrong doesn't need to be said but it ended in a huge meeting of nearly all the pro city clans at the NC gates which ended in one of the biggest, longest and most interesting battles i ever had. Fights all over the map. And pretty much everyone who could fight was there.

People actually made an impact here. These days it's just every man for himself and screw everyone else. Oh the memories.
