To be honest, i did my best to forget all that. I didn't want to hear anything about it. I even left Tech Haven, got me a mouldy little appartment in the Dome, got hired as a data engineer at a company making special pharma products. You know, the Black Dragons aren't asking a lot of questions, given you're doing a good job and know to use your gun. And drugs will always be in fashion.

I spent some time in the field, causing confusion with my rifle. Especially with monks who believed to be safe. Good times. Sadly gone. Trade activities ceased, employees left the company. Some even changed sides. At least that's what i thought that time. Later i learned the true story behind NEXT.

"Bleep". I woke up. What the...? Oh. I'd fallen asleep at the hometerm. That was a nice evening, yesterday. And none of us had any Warbot Cola. Haha. That's why my head was so heavy now. And this Bleep came from the anti-virus software. Strange. Tired, but curious i opened the email. On top, marked in red, an encrypted message. No virus. Ok, so for some quick decyphering.

Sender: Charles DelaCroix. Re: Your Datacubes. Body: Hello, Mr. Torg. We've been talking some time ago. On datacubes. Now i got blueprints, and put them to the usual place near the NEXT HQ. Talk to Mr. Gunderson there. The blueprints have a map, showing the launchpad bunker near Tech Haven and some docs of the technology behind this project. I don't have any info on the codes for the GenRep-travel to the pre-war satellites. Maybe you want to ask Mr. Gunderson. Please hurry. Yours, Charles DelaCroix. End of message.
I was shaking my head. I had been so sure to be out of this. But no. The satellites. The gloves. The guardians. The datacubes. And now the NEXT HQ. The rumour mill was right about growing tensions, between NEXT and the City Admin. And that there would be open hostility soon. And about a second, secret Fallen Angels Headquarter down in the rocks beneath Tech Haven. And that the tensions between factions in the Dome would grow, fueled by city admin agents, and that Angels and Twilight Guardian would leave the Dome soon.

And what's that about " GenRep-travel to the pre-war satellites" Damnedest! If there's a thing to push me and wake me up, it's legends from hundreds of years ago. And the smell of fat loot.

Alright. So back into the old, bullet-scratched Power Armor. Tools attached to the belt. A glance at the weapons locker. Silent Hunter? Too slow. Pain Easer. Not enough firepower. Ray Of God? Healing Light? Terminator? Redeemer? To Hell! I grabbed my trusted old RoG, strapped her to my back, checked my backpack one last time and headed to the GR. No, no visiting of Padre Morpheus this time. Im fed up with his religious nonsense. I'd rather go for the risk of running into some of Reza's slaves in the old industrial quarters.

An empty, barren area. I didn't spend too much time in this loneliness, moved on towards the inner city. I would need all my guts there, stealth tool or not. I got to use it anyways, in the Pepper Park...

Well. Quite easily i managed to sneak in. Sewers as well as concrete rims right at the roofs of this city. I arrived at Plaza 4. Noises from there told me a mean story. Howling, barking of plasma guns, shouting people. Right in front of the transport guys' headquarters there was a tough fight going on. The guards were out of luck – somehow the City Admin had moved a platoon of CopBots into the place.

No, hands off. Being a dragon, drug dealer and enemy of every good Neocron citizen i'd draw more fire than my health would welcome. So quiet. And it didn't take long before the shooting calmed down.

Ducked behind a corner i was watching the CopBots leave. So what's the situation? This way down to the ground, check the matters and look for the NEXT guys, then run like hell and jump into the sewers. Not the brightest plan ever, but the one i had at hand.

I grabbed my tool, went into stealth mode, jumped down to the floor. Between the display of old-fashioned vehicle models there were corpses, dead NEXT guards. I approached, stealth keeping me alive. There, a name plate: Hans Gunderson. Damnedestomatic! Right besides him: Theolonius Miller. Oh no! This can't be! Was this the place where all traces meet... and end? Checking the stealth tool: about time to go! What's that in the dead Miller's pocket? I took it and recognized a datacube, slightly burned from today's share of plasma. I started running, kept a firm grip on the cube, jumped over the hand rail, and right into the sewer flap, down the ladder, heavy boots stomping behind me. Down to the lower level, hastily crawling along the sewer trench, pushing aside the grid in the dark corner and down again, to the lowest level, right into the rotten smell of this ancient sewer tube. Born and grown up in the Pepper Park and always on the wrong side of the law, i just knew my ways down here.

Children's playground from now on. At least, nearly. I made it back to the Dome safely, the loot in my pocket. No Reza's followers in sight anytime. Caused by the plasma mistreatment, the datacube was slightly burned and warped. I managed to scratch off a few plastic bubbles from its surface with an old stiletto, so it would fit into my hometerm's data drive. Click "open" and a window appeared.

A. Eyes only. project *agima 005*
B. control of guardian robots.
C. use of guardian gloves.
D. codes for satellite GenReps
E. map of launch facilities.
F. GenRep and gate-codes for start121a484e65g65f331c34d...

A loud scratching noise. The display flickered, turned black. Thin smoke coming from the drive, circling up into the air. The term shut down. I pulled the cube out, or just a part of it. The memory matrix inside the cube's case was burnt to coal. I wondered why it had released any data at all. Data without answers, but more questions. Questions, which will never be answered. Somewhere around Tech Haven a spaceship was waiting, way below the burnt soil of the wastelands, guarded by mad robots without an "off"-switch, accessible by GenRep-connections crossing the earths orbit, without an entry. That was too much for a single day. So i decided to kill it off with an overdose of Preachers. Someone else care for this crap. Not me. I'm out of this game.

Satellite as in those orbiting, or remote GRs at distant locations?
