Right, I wanted to take a vid cap from - oddly enough - a vid.

Tried a print screen, but the image is blank. Using WinAmp.

I vaguely remember something about a setting somewhere but I don't know which.

Have you tried using Snagit ?

Turning off hardware accceleration in windows will do that.
Alternativley you could use VLC's "snapshot" funcion.
