Righty. I'm back at my parent's house for easter, which means my net settings have changed since I'm now using a wireless router and it's not the same type of router etc. etc.

Which ports does NC need to have open to use and how do I do it? I've been playing NC for the last week here but I think the lag I'm getting is partly down to the connection (or lack thereof) I'm getting. Also need it for torrents.

I don't think you need to portforward to play Neocron. If you are inside a private home network (For example you got an IP that looks like 192.168.x.x) then you can browse to your router at http://192.168.x.1 .

Destination IP <-> Protocol <-> Destination Port

62.140.29.49 <-> TCP <-> 80
62.140.29.50, 62.140.29.51, 62.140.29.52 <-> TCP <-> 7000/8020/12000
62.140.29.50, 62.140.29.51, 62.140.29.52 <-> UDP - Any

Of course, I'm just to lazy to type it ;).

I have never set up port forwardimg for NC on any router I have had to use.
PS. Where can I buy the Woc 1 PAs from?

I've had the opposite, I've had to forward ports for every router I've ever had. I just checked use local port, then forwarded that port and the one right above it. If you forward it as a range, it saves you from needing multiple lines.

Right, so I get the router pw from my dad and I'm looking at the section for opening a port. Alas I am somewhat befuddled.
It's got (per row) an box for:

Trigger port (wtf?)
Trigger type (selection between TCP and UDP)
Public port
Public type (as trigger type)

What do I put where?

NC's local port (from the neocron.ini file) is 20999.

I've never had to port forward anything for NC, across multiple types of routers (LinkSys, Belkin, m0n0wall, IP Masq box).

Just set the outgoing traffic rules to allow those I gave you from your PC, you're running a client not the server. Anyway it's obviously already done since you could play from there.

I don't think the lag you're getting has something to do with this.

The question is HOW?

My torrents aren't working properly either, despite my comp's firewall allowing it.

Torrents are different. You have to add a rule forwarding traffic from a particular port (choose the port in your Torrent client) to your internal machine on the same port.

And how do I do that?

I've got NC and Azuerus both as exceptions for the XP firewall, but I don't know what to do where and how.

Just find your router on that list.
