Righto then, My current PC, bless its 7 year old soul is finally going on the shitlist and is too majorly outdated to be endured any longer by any form of updating short of major reconstruction.

SO, im just gonna build a new one. And yes i know these threads have been composed by me prior, but this time ive actually got the cash to do somethin. The following is a list of parts ive been looking at.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131568
ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce SPP 100 ATX AMD Motherboard

Western Digital Caviar SE WD3200JB 320GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145440
CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop
Memory

If you suggest any parts in place of these, note that my cash limit is about 500$. This currently comes out to 370$ with a case. (An Aspire X-Finity case)

I'd go for ATI Radeon for video and AMD Athelon for processor - not too highly priced, nice product support and reliability.

Here's a wishlist (https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/Wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=4691652&WishListTitle=Apocalypsox) with what I'd pick out.

If you're going to get a case with a PSU, at least get it with a PSU that has a chance at being satisfactory.

You probably won't use SLI. Ignore it.

The board, a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3, has solid capacitors. No leaking for yuo!

An E6300 is plenty. If you want it to go faster, just overclock it by 25% with the stock HSF.

DDR2 speed doesn't matter much for C2D (long as it's 1:1 with the FSB clock). G.Skill should be fine, but there was a 2x1GB DDR2-667 kit from Kingston for $5 more if you want.

The HDD is Seagate's latest 7200.10 line, so two more years of warranty. If you really want a WD, get the later one with 16MB of cache for $89.9x-something.

Try and avoid the Socket 939's CPU's and Motherboards - they are being phased out by AMD.

Try and find a Socket AM2 if you really want to go for AMD, but currently the Intels CPU's are ahead of the AMD's.
