So, got back into blowing glass after months away, ended up with 3 burns and a couple cuts... on two practice pieces and gaffing for another student.
Sheesh.
So, other than a couple graphics artists/hobbyists, is there anyone on this forum that partakes of the arts? And, um, I suggest excluding the audio-mixers from "the arts" for the purpose of this thread...

I am a part of the theatrical arts :cool:
Before Uni i did an A-Level in Theatre Studies where we studied a few practitioners, around 4 or 5 plays in depth and had a couple examined performances.
If that counts as being "of the arts", other than that i'm the sound techie (what you got against audio mixers, eh? :p) for my local drama group and was forced (well asked to, wasn't keen on it :p) to appear on stage in a show in the summer where i split my head open exiting the stage on the final night and had to have stitches missing the second Act of the show in regards to my sound duties - i still got back in time to strike all the kit but couldn't drink due to being a little bit drugged up at the pub afterwards and therefore missed the after show party.
Yes, art is painful.

Cybernetic fingers as an implant, +1 DEX & +1 STR & +1 CON.
That'd be pretty neat.
Oh, and an options package where when you flip the bird, your middle finger extends to 5x normal length. And lights up in neon colors.

Yeah, I'm a guitar newb. I'm playing through it though so my fingers are starting to toughen up a bit. They're numb and hurt at the same time, which is a bit weird.

I started by writing porn for magazines.
Now I got my own theatregroup. Ive even been late from rehearsals because i was Woccing...I write, mainly direct, mostly act in my own stuff, sometimes dance and if i cant afford to hire professionals for the project, i am known to do the stage and wardrobe aswell... in a pinch. This year ill hopefully get a full time producer so i can ditch that.
The only thing i cant do related to theatre is anything related to music apart from very limited drums or jembe and if people hear me sing they pity me right before they vomit and possibly fall dead. And eventhough I do dance, apart from salsa and other latins I suck at them as well.
Oh... and ive written a book (compilation of short stories) and have been "finishing" a cookbook with me ol' mum for about a year.

Just stick at it. It'll hurt for a few weeks (as was my case) but I was playing classical at the time, so on horrible plastic strings ergh.

Doesn't the plectrum or what ever its called save your fingers from this or does that ruin the sounds u can create. I love guitars and i think its one of the nicest instruments you can listen to if you got someone who can really play one playing to you.
One of my favourite riffs has to be the van halen riff from Michael Jacksons 'Beat it'

If you're going to use a pick you hold it in your strumming hand (usually your right). It's the fingers you hold down on the frets that suffer initially.

You could allways borrow these metal fingertips for when sowinng you know from you wife/girlfriend/boyfriend.
When I used to draw, I'd hold the pencil really hard. I still have a kinda lump on my right hand big finger where it sort of toughened up. Used to hurt for about a minute once I'd finished, does that count? :D
When i started playing guitar my dad told me my fingers would hurt and then callus (sp?) up... never happened *shrug*

Nothing is more painful than the shock of seeing a Rocket Firework's Wick burning when it's suddenly blown downwards in the wind...Staring at you...
