What i need to know is, will all this work together or have i missed some compatibility issue somewhere :p

Case (http://www.jeantech.com/nitro.htm) is an extra £50 as i know what im getting and from where, then i'll be adding another stick of gig RAM in a month or so when i get paid so the system will eventually be a 2 gig system.

Thoughts and oppinions?

lol nm didnt read it fully.

Should all work, have you considered making use of the sata2 raid functionality?

Wish i had some cash left from christmas :(

Is that basically having two mirrored hard disks or am i thinking of something else?

I've had to attempt to bring myself up to speed on computer technology with the help of Bram and others since i've not been keeping up with things while i've had no money to upgrade! Raid is one thing i've still got no clue about!

Yeah when i get the second gig of RAM i'm just reordering that stick again so it matches up :)

They will work together -

Just remember...

X1900 series need a 12v power cable... (took 60 mins of my fucking time)

hmm my GPU is 600mhz, but mem is only 700 :/

yours is 1500 - dunno much about this? What does it mean :/-

anyways nice setup :-

i paid

£900 includingin my Periphials and 19" crt

ram must be on 750mhz, so u had to split the value.
But nvm. It should work Together.
btw; Pantho, my ram got an efficiency display. :D

first of all, i think there is still a big issue with amd multicore-cpus, some ppls from clan told me about. overall that list of parts looks very good to me, i created my own list. because of the amd-multi's bug thought i picked a intel one.

CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Allendale 2133MHz 2MB S775 Tray (219.99 €)
RAM 1GB (1024MB) DDR-II-800 PC6400 CL4 G.E.I.L. Ultra (122.99 €)
SYS MSI Mega mPC915 i915 VGA Lan Snd P/SATA FW PCIe S775 (185.99 €)
Asus EN7950GT HTDP GF7950GT 512MBGDR3 TVout 2vDVI (259.99 €)
2x 80GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 8MB 7200rpm SATA-II NCQ (44.99 €)
total$$: 878.94 euros

dont piss me on for prices, i was going to the webpage of my dealer just arround the corner...

Yea i heard alot about the AM2 multicore...

Plus i always said to people Intel was better... but it occured to me, ive never really tried a intel... (Part from a 166mhz mmx.... good times...)

So, i went for the

2.4ghz intel E6600 4mb cache

so after all... it looks cool thought. thought the 8800 is a bit expensive atm, thats why i picked a 7950, but i picked a barebone instead of a normal case so its kinda 100bucks for mobo+80bucks case at all..

happy gaming :)

for good overall preformancing, try fraps'ing while opfight or something. someone of clan told me he got a E6400 or somehting + 7950 and he can duallog without feeling a bit at framerates.

Thats RAID level 1, which is pretty common and easy to setup. You have 2 disks with the same data on each, so if one disk fails you haven't lost everything. I have an old Pentium 233MMX box with a pair of 160gig drives in running in RAID1, and one of the disks did fail a while back. I sent the disk back, got a new one and put it back in. A few hours later the mirror was rebuilt, and no data lost.

There is also RAID 0, where the data is stripped across 2 disks. This makes it very fast on reads, but if one disk goes you are totally screwed as the other disk only has half the data.

After that there are other Raid levels which combine mirroring, stripping and parity but it gets expensive as you need more disks.

As for your PC rig itself, consider looking at the Intel dual cores as well. They are ahead of the AMD's at this point in time.

Yep

no noticed on framerate AT ALL!

unless i fire a dev. While duel logged..

it goes down 5 fps

So what Intel would be the same in regards to performance or if there's much difference, the price? O_o

CPUs have always confused the crap out of me.

Ill tell ya... this E6600 2.4ghx Core2duo with 4mb cache.. is... is.. well

Dreamy :D

And you cant fry a intel overclockign... they just dmg lol ...

The 2.4ghz can safly be clocked to 3.5ghz per core

Only problem is i can't really afford £200 for a processor :/

Tempted to knock the graphics card down a notch or two, go for more powerful CPU and then get a better graphics card in the summer.

How about 145 of your precious pounds for a processor? http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quicklinx=44HC&CategorySelectedId=11147&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11147,50520&InMerch=1
You only get 2MB of L2 Cache with this one (or double that of the competing AMD X2), but you can always upgrade the cpu later when quad core chips are more common.

Talking of cache, I like how the L2 on the C2D is shared between the cores, so that if you're running an app that only uses one core (most games), it will get all or most of that cache, making things nice and speedy.

I hate to recommend an Intel over my nerd fave the AMD, but it really looks like the smart move right now. Still, Intel has never been the thrifty option, as their motherboards seem to cost a bit more than the equivalent AMD boards.

edit: Happy NY 'crackers!

I think i'm just going to stick with the original system as i am receiving conflicting advice from just about everywhere or at least four tons of pros and cons for both CPUs.

Technology is confusing :p

personal i think the amds are something like more infront than intels. if i check all spreaded over ther world bench's the intels crunch amds, but i still feel very happy with my amd - i're running a 3200+ 1meg cache / 754pin. i bought it, when it hit the retailers and it was cool, that i didnt even needed to switch my gfx(6800GT) to a pci-e, cause most 754pin boards still got AGP... dunno, when i will upgrade or swap my system to a new pitbull. but when i will do, i think i will be still picking amd, cause i like my amd...

tbh, i think the current fix for X2 cpus is to turn the 2nd core off i heard, but i was also talking to someone ingame with a X2-3800+ with no problems at all... so no clue... anyone can update our community with running this up2date game with up2date AMD X2's ?

<3 Scan, all the stuff i was going to buy is now part of the Deal of Weeks or Today Onlys, which gives me a couple of options.

I can get the same system as outlined above but with £110 more processor for only £13 more.

Think i'll go with option one since it is an extra £100 which would probably come in handy down the line, alternativly i could go for an extra gig of ram now rather than in a months time, probably not - but i do like how i can get the next processor up for only around £13, the original price difference between the two processors was £109.28 which isnt bad at all really :p

Also, £8 less on the mobo with a free remote control car :D

Reason for the 700W PSU is that it's cheaper to get that in with the graphics card than to buy the same graphics card with a 500W power supply.

EDIT: 'Just' going for the £735 option :p
