View Full Version : Speed Bugs

My friend has just re-subscribed to NC2.

His account has all the usual DB problems (missing items, wrong factions etc).
This is all easy to deal with.

But he has a bigger problem.
Whenever he goes to walk, he is extra fast. All jumpy.

He goes so fast over sectors, that he dies from fall damage.
It's crazy.

He has dual processor PC, 2gb ram, 512mb gfx card - all top of the range specs.
He's tried restarting the pc, he has a clean install of nc2 and everything.

He has e-mailed NC helpdesk, but they havn't responded yet - so I thought I would see if anyone else has had this problem.

... and No, he doesn't have speed hacks.

This is about the 5th time it has come up.

He has dual processor PC
Is the issue. He has to make NC run on only one core, or he#ll get silly bugs like this.
Its because NC (and several other games) use the time signal from the processor to determine various things. But with the dual core, the two signals are not in synch (or so I'm given to understand this is the problem).

Oh, and there shouldn't be any issues with "DB problems" with the exception of transfer characters from Saturn. Reactivating an account should have all the correct items and factions - contact helpdesk, but he could just be remembering wrong.

Allow me to redirect you to the last thread in which the problem was resolved:

http://forum.neocron.com/showthread.php?t=136164

EDIT: Assuming it's an AMD dual core processor that is. If this is an Intel processor I don't think there's any real utility you can use besides simply disabling a core.

Which dual core CPU do you have?

This just due to login problems?

Remember that there was a massive roll back on Saturn near the end of NC1, unless he quit before this, he may have lost items he gained and been reverted to a different faction.

Just saw you use an X2.

I'd recommend you install the AMD Dual Core Optimizer anyways, because you never know when you'll run into this problem.

Then again, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." :D
