Well, we have a fair few system shock fans around here, according to this thread (http://forum.neocron.com/showthread.php?t=135620) we have a fair few System Shock fans around. And anybody who has played SS2 can see what a huge influence the SS2 influence had on KK.

Anyway, it seems there is never that likley to be another true System Shock (RIP Looking Glass - you guys did awesome stuff), although there are rumours of EA ressurecting elements of the liscence.

But in the mean time, Irrational (who did a lot of the work for SS2 anyhow) are working on what they term a "spiritual sucessor" to the SS series: Bioshock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/bioshock). Set on some decaying underwater world (they apparently have two staff members who do nothing but work on water), it also looks scary as fuck - in fact, seeing as SS2 had me on edge enough, its possible that BS will be unplayable for me. There are a couple of videos out: a scary-as-hell pre-rendered one, Google's copy here (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4422876153004462321&sourceid=searchfeed&source=uds) (you can Dl better quality elsewhere) and one with gameplay and commentary (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8450616578067874564&q=bioshock).

As said, it looks scary and promising, but I honestly can't believe it will offer anythhing like what they promise. genuinely intelligent opponents? Truley opened ended play? But it will probably be a good expereince and scary as sin.

Also, will the game really feel lacking characters without the ever-scary SHODAN?
Anyone else's opinion?

I think it might turn out as a shooter with an interesting, indepth athmosphere ... but as to whats being displayed/revealed so far it doesnt look like its going to be anything revolutionary or new. It really depends on the plot and the little details imo... I doubt gameplay will be anything mindblowing. ;)

Yeah seen the movie where he speaks so highly about his world breaking game. I wasn't impressed though. Nice gfx and animations but that's about it. It's very similar to SS which I like though. The game will probably be good but nowhere as breathtaking as the dev tells you in the vid heh.

Bouncing ninja looking girls throwing shurikens? :P

It looks good but the atmosphere of SS2 will be hard to match. We'll see. :)

Yes, but its all very much heresy, plus I don't have faith in EA doing anything especialy notworthy with it. That said, I think they should just remake the original. Spruce up the graphics and AI a bit perhaps, but a remake for the genreation that never played it (including me, I only played bits) could be pretty awesome in itself.

The game seems like "ok" , but I doubt it has the same scifi feeling what SS2 had. To this day, System Shock 2 is teh bestest game out there.
Nowadays feels like people focuses more on gfx than storyline&atmosphere, which is absolutely the worst thing in gaming industry.(including mmorpg's too)

O...M...G... seeing as I *hate* playing scary shit, I'd be staying so damn far away from it, despite how awesome it looks.

Seeing what SS did for my reality,
I seriously doubt BS is going to be any less.

While it might not be THE game ( DN:F will always be for that matter, ofc)
the videos alone are good enough for me to say "Hey, you got it going on."
and the pressure put on the team is also enough for me to say "It's do or die" because, seriously, they know very well that if they mess this game up, they're doomed..

That video made me feel a bit sick to be honest...

What part made you sick? The hand-slapping-with-a-steel-wrench part? The part where the guy gets a FRIGGING DRILL through his hand? No, wait, I got it... the part where the guy gets a FRIGGING FRILL THROUGH HIS FRIGGING CHEST?!

Awesome work... nothing less than awesome. Looking glass was that company that created a flight simulator somewhere near 1995-1998? I think it was called flight unlimited?

The videos are great and everything seems pretty awesome. The game has loaned a lot from SS, but that's only good =). Now if they get the story right, I think we have a brilliant game on our hands. It's the atmosphere, imagine what kind of situations you can create with rooms filling with water, oh the sweet sweet panic.

I watched the Gameplay video and it looks pretty sweet, an eery feel to it.

What would you do?

"Be nice" to the little girls for "adam" or take it by "force" ?
