They've been like that since i last reformatted which was about 6 months ago if not more (i think) and the game icons are only there as i cant be bothered to remove them....

That's the easiest place to slap them.. and then launch from there. Clean up every 6 months or so. If it gets too crowded, just buy a bigger screen :p

Heh, it's a fairly rescent install, so I haven't got around to installing most of the
stuff. I've just started using the desktop to actually put shortcuts on, usually
I keep it clean without a single icon & just use the task bar :)

Widescreen though, nice. I want one just for watching movies... I already have a nice stereo system as the sound system for my pc but watching movies in widescreen mode makes them a little small.

Haha, well, Brothers in Arms came with some graphics card or sumthing, installed, played for an hour and came to the conclusion that its complete crap. Wow, well, I played it for a while, cancelled and back to Neocrack it is. And widescreen is also excellent for playing games. I dont watch a lot of movies (except porn), but I tend to spend some time gaming.
Btw, how do you know WoW sucks if you havent tried it? o_O

My main desktop. It spans two 19" monitors, each running at 1400x1050.
The picture is one I took ages ago (obviously) with a 2MP camera.
The gaming machine I'm not sure how to dress up. It's a new install. I was planning to go with an NC theme, but we'll see.

This is my desktop. Points to note: The section at the bottom represent 10 virtual desktops. You can see that I have mIRC running in desktop 8 and my current desktop is 7.
I have a dock at the bottom holding everything you'd normally have in a quickbar. This dock auto hides and appears when you move the mouse to the bottom of the screen. I could put all sorts of dynamic content in there like weather charts but I like to keep things simple.
The small icons in the dock on the far left is my system tray. That dock is configured not to magnify as you move over it to make the icons easier to select. The icons update in the same way that would in the system tray.
The slightly larger icons in the dock to the system tray's immediate right is the running task list. That one does magnify on mouse over. Also, minimised applications are represented as a screenshot in that dock. Where a taskbar application would flash, the dock icon "bounces".
Desktop icons are configured to magnify on mouse over and highlight the label when selected. You can see that my Cronalyser icon is selected. Cronalyser is a marvelous program and I highly recommend you download it from http://www.cronalyser.com :)
I have a skin applied that supports transparencies.
All of the desktop enhancements are part of Object Desktop, in case you're interested.

You can see from the "with" and "without" shots ("without" doesn't have any of the Object Desktop components running) that the differences are fairly negligible. I have 1.5GB of RAM and I'm in no danger of running out any time soon. Incidentally, I have a bunch of other stuff running including Virtual Server and this Internet Explorer 7.
Object Desktop, and WindowBlinds in particular, have come a long way since their earlier memory-hogging days. In fact, WindowBlinds 5 makes your desktop faster because it utilises your graphics card which is something that only Windows Vista can boast. BTW, underneath it all it's just XP. The skin is called Eminence and can be downloaded from Wincustomize. (http://www.wincustomize.com/ViewSkin.aspx?SkinID=5758&LibID=1)

do alot of people have vent on nc or ts on some of these they didnt have any i have on mine neocron/warcraft 3/runescape(my bros)/battlefield2/fraps thats about it
My abortive attempt at filling up my BT clan was only hindered by the lack of voice comms. When I resub in the first week of September (to move the billing date to the beginning of the month) I'm installing an old SBLive to handle voice coms. :)

sorry how do you take a pic on your desktop ?
Hit the printscreen key on your keyboard then open a new file in a paint program and then paste it. Or get a video capture device, though for a still image printscreen works fine (I've seen people with animated backgrounds... god that would drive me insane.)

Ay, girl I live with had some strange issues with the three extra bars with porn for some reason... :confused:
Also removed a buckload of sysanalyzers, the integrated mp3 player and the starmap.. among other things.

I'm strongly considering getting it, but for now i'm using the trial, it lasts a month afterall, it's not bad for £10 but at the end of the day, it only really changes the look of your desktop, and for £10 is it really worth it?
Weeeeell i'll see anyhow, and from what I can tell, there's not much difference between the trial and the real thing.

Erm changed it a bit. The people making those skins must be either really talented or really determined... this took me all night to get just the damn metal looking right... though it's pretty satisfying when it finally looks right. :o

Sorry to keep posting this thing, but to me it's kinda interesting. I'm still trying to get the perfect metal texture... also I modded that SysMetrix skin to match my chosen texture. It's getting close to perfect I think, but it needs some rusted screws and bolts and stuff I think.
edit: The reason I'm so obsessed with this is I'm trying to find a way to add depth without using a shadow... a damn fucked up viewport is NOT going to cast a shadow on a galaxy. :lol:
