Sorry, but I think there's a marked difference in thinking. They aren't there to get games on the market, they're there to make money. Yes they do put games on the market, but that's just how they accomplish objective A.

I don't know what in the hell happened to the asia server thing, but i doubt it affects us in any way shape or form.

In fact I doubt any of that news affects us.

Actually, Can someone actually tell me what 10T have done that's been positive? The only thing I can see that's been done is the shoeboxing of payment methods.

You obviously weren't around for the failed Asian release of NC2 that ended up conveniently delaying a number of things. It was a counterproductive time of mixed messages that's I'm still trying to forget...

Nid posting (http://forum.neocron.com/showpost.php?p=1748833&postcount=75) "the only impact on this release for us was that we spent a few days bringing some guys up to speed with the day-to-day operation of a Neocron server, and that's it. The rest of it is all handled by 10t and is not putting further work pressures on the team"... followed by Holger's post (http://forum.neocron.com/showthread.php?t=126135) saying "The cancellation of Neocron Asia will have a positive effect for the Community. I can now assign more resources to the most important subjects concerning Neocron2."

Don't get your hopes up for an NC2:Asia Edition :p

What are you talking about? There's no conflict between those two statements. I said that we'd spent some time getting the Asian beta team up to speed and 10T handled the rest. Holger said:
Reakktor trained the 10tacle Asia staff and made sure the technical framework met the requirements for the Asian market (e.g. implementation of the gamepoint system). Everything else was coordinated and organized by 10tacle Asia.
Had the game been taken up then there would have been a definite need for further input from our team and that had to be planned for.

Resource allocation is a process that reaches into the future because you can't run a company without planning what your people are going to be doing over at least the next financial period. This means that there was a planned requirement for more resources to be allocated to address any issues that came up during the beta. Since that requirement never materialised it meant that the plans could be changed to re-allocate those people closer to home which is what Holger referred to in his statement.

Can you edit my above, in hindsight it's a little unfair to take such a harsh stance. :S

no FN thats the first i've heard of it. When did that happen? Pre-Evo?

What was the objective for bringing the game to asia? Did that trump the idea of bringing servers to the US?

As far as I know, there wasn't enough resources versus the playerbase to make the move worthwhile.

Not enough staff, various pricings, and policies etc. With the pops as they were, and still are, it'd dilute the playerbase.

*shrug* I never know. I just remember hating the Asian Release being used as a reason why a number of things, back at that time, were being post-poned.

It's also gone 7. On a friday. I suggest you take the night off, go to the pub, maybe one of those new fangled discos afterwards?

Oh, and don't worry about moderation, I'd happily give it a whack. :p

Just got this link sent to me.

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=18632

In a nutshell 10tacle Studios teams up with 9You Information Technology, who will help market 10tacle's games in Asia.

It does make me ask, if KK/10tacle are going to have a go at getting Neocron 2 into Asia again.

Earlier thread on the same issue. http://forum.neocron.com/showthread.php?t=134938

I honestly hope not for a while atleast, the balancing project needs to be addresses finished and then given a wider scope to do the same work currently being done to many aspects on other areas such as Hacknet etc etc then more graphical updates need to hit the game such as the rest of the weapons, characters (more so NPCs) and vehicles to make the entire game look graphically appealing - areas populated by the new modeled junk/crates/blankets etc do look very cool ingame and this needs to be taking game world wide with the items that werent done. Once the game is pretty much graphically sound and balanced it could go to Asia as the huge complaints about the game over at nc2.com (the asian website) were the graphics and some of the more visible bugs, some of which are being sorted (it seems) in the balance project.

So a couple years yet me thinks :p
