Hi
My name is jason, and i wanted to say hi :p. I was surfing when i came across an ad for the Necron series. I loved how u could be a hacker and all different professions but i had a few questions if i may.
im used to the 3-d worlds such as WOW, EQ and them and what would make this different i know this is liek Anarchy online and i am not really too keen on shooters but for some reason i am liking this game... though i havent played yet
what servers cater to Newbies... such as myself.. i am american and want to have fun playing this game and any tips, any at all will be of help... i mean i dont know what to ask other than what to do to get started :confused:
Well your server to go is Terra since it's the only English server. :p But what kind of tips do you want? Leveling? Hardware? Getting started?

well i guess i could ask what the same and different to the style of MMORPG's that i have played in the past from prevvious thread i am not sure .. so really anything to get me started since i am currently downloading the game and i already set up my trial account

Other than that, it's pretty straightforward.
well since the other guy just say crap (sorry guy :P) i will give you some advice
1. try the trial period (P.S. like mention before, if you chose to play you need a credit card and 2 chose offer to you, Click2Pay or the other one, you will find it tought to get what you what whit them)
2. do the traning when you start a new caracter (p.s. your 1 guy you do whit the traning will die (never know why that) so make one in haste and do the traning THEN do your real guy you will use
3. you got 4 ''slot'' for 4 guy, don't make them like LIVE, wait to be familiar whit the game (it took a whole week if you play not too offent) and don't be affrai to ask question, i alway love to answer think that took me houres or month to find (such where i go lvling, what is the best weapon)

that website tell you nearly EVERYTHING you need to know (still it a bit confusing) but atleast, they even got a NOOB guy where they talk about LE (one think you got in your head at the start of the game VERY IMPORTANT for PvP) and other think such faction and the kind of guy you wanna start.
5 finaly, find what you truly are, i hear you mention hacker at the first time, try spy, they got the most INT and DEX (you got 5 stat, like in any other RPG, stat mean your heal-run speed and ALL of what you do) and i wound't recommand hacker at the first time... try more like pistol or gentank (the Heavy guy in NC2) they are the more easy caracter to start..... and a other tip, start like Citi admin or any other PRO citi, it a bit easyer to find youself out there
now i know that what i have mention may be wrong (but im sure not :P:P) and feel free to ask me question in game by Direct Message me = DM me !!!

Besides, avoiding click to pay is pretty relevant. To your sanity, and your wallet.

Believe me, the game is a lot easier to learn than some people think. If however you are still unsure of something, you might wanna narrow those parameters a little.
After you've spent a few hours in there, it'll be pretty easy to do that anyhow. It's always easier to come up with specific questions once you've run into the relelvant issues. ;)
EDIT - and For the record, character choice? Fuck what Boreal said. Be any class you want to be. A suggested starter would be a PE (Private Eye, they have access to every facet of the skill tree to a certain extent.
http://nc.synergyxr.net/setups - a good place to look at how other people have set thier characters up, to help you get the most out of yours. Remember, in NC, you can always undo your skilling, thanks to LOM pills. No more re-rolls ;)

and yet neither have you telling spermy to stfu!
There are some basic things for a newbie character to keep in mind at all times. 1) Dont pull out your Law Enforcer chip until you know the game fairly well!
2) Implants are a good way to get a jump on your levels, allowing you to use better weapons, therefore level faster.
3) if you want to hack, dont be a pure hacker. Its not slow to level in hacknet, most people just find it very tedious and annoying, so its a good idea to keep some weapons for use in the real world.
4) Try to focus where you put your points, as putting a few points into every subskill can have deadly effects end-game.
5) If you need anything else, just Press F1, select Custom, scroll the channels to the very bottom, and click on Help. there is almost always a helpful veteran player patrolling this channel helping people.
Actually, I'd take Spermys advise over anyones.
What's the point in telling him about the game when C2P won't even let him play? :p
Ok, all bad-mouthing aside..
I advise making a Private Eye, you get to see a little bit of every class since they are the average out of them all.
I would also advise making your character a ProCity faction, this is because the Dome (AntiCity area) is just disgustingly difficult to find anything in for the first time. I'm sure there are a few people around here (either in-game or on the forums) who will be nice enough to get you started in-game with an item or two to set you on your way, I would do it but I don't have an active game account.
Also, try and get out of the very first starter area (once you have completed the 'walkthrough' part) as soon as possible, it doesn't really help much in my opinion and it's just better to get stuck in.
I would also suggest opening your chat channels (F1) and clicking 'Custom' and turning on the first Trade channel, Help and OOC if they are not already active (I know Trade and OOC are not). This will get you used to the kind of items, services and general bitching going on in-game that you will need hear and the Help channel will also be useful for questions.

I believe that regarding the choice of the payment method, its a matter of different opinions, personally i have no problems whatsoever with C2P, but i have indeed had it with PBC. (Chk the forum for posts by me to see full documentation on that one ;) )
Anyways, when i started out with NC (2 months before NC2 went final), ive read about the game at gamespot, then i went to neocron.com to obtain more knowledge of the game.
However, the picture i got in my mind from reading about the game wasnt exactly what the game turned out to be, in fact the game to me turned out to be much better than the description.
What i personally like most about NC is, that it aint taking place on the time where "Willow Ufgood" was becoming the great sorcerer nor is it taking place in a overdone futuristic world *caugh* UT world-ish *caugh* place. ;)
To me the NC world seem to be pretty much inspirated by the Judge Dredd movie, there r the wastelands (cursed earth), warbots (ABC warriors), hovercabs and so on.
Ive never been much of a RPG gamer, mainly because most RPGs is about swords and magic which isnt my thing, im more into something i can relate to, like NC, a sci-fi world but not more sci-fi than I can relate to it, and even though there're monks and swordsmen, its still not anything like those "regular" RPGs where u run around in the "woodlands" with a chr that looks like he has a stamp under his foot saying "Copyright by Disney Entertainment" :lol:
NC i think is great because it gives u the oppertunity to lead a parallel life in a world that aint differing that much from the real world as we know it.
I've always dreamed of an RPG that takes place in present time and as far as ive been looking, NC is the closest match on that one, maybe not by the actual year, but worldwise. :)
Also i like the understory to NC, seems well put together and again, not far from what could be a possible reality in the future. :D

a few points some of which have been mentioned above:
1. When you start the actual game not the tutorial you will start in an area called MC5 there are lots of npc's there to talk to and learn from also there are mobs to kill and earn money and start to level your character. Once you are happy there you need to go to what is called a Gene Replicator (just like a transporter off startrek) you use this to gene rep to your apartment in Neocron. (personally i just run a new character straight through MC5 and Gene rep straight to his apartment in Neocron. I find it easier to level there than mess about in MC5)
2. You have the ability to use implants to boost certain skills or subskills these come in the forms of brain implants, bones, eyes, hearts and spines.
When you start you already have 1 implant in your brain called a Law Enforcer. The LE is like a safety chip it will not allow you to harm other players and likewise other players cannot harm you. when you are happy with your characters progression and you want to either join a clan or start playing PvP you can take your LE out. Once your rank is above */30 however you can no longer put it back in.
3. When you start your levelling you should take missions from the Neoterm to complete, start with quick kill jobs like roaches or small spiders then onto small sewer rats. The missions give you extra money but more importantly extra xp across all your 5 skills, as if you where a Gentank for instance you would gain nearly all your skill xp in just the Strength skill and very little in Psi or Int or Dex. Once youre happy with the way your killing the rats you can try a higher level mob in the next level sewers etc.
4. Dont be afraid to ask on the Help channel, there are alot of us who are quite happy to help out a newbie whether its just with a few quick answers or by taking them round showing them where to level, where to get missions, what skills to put your points into etc.
5. One thing i forgot to mention is Mr Jones. He is a guy who is stood in the entrance to your apartment. Once you have been to your faction headquarters and registered at the front desk you will be able to do 3 missions for Mr Jones. At the end of the missions you will recieve a prize for your hard work. The prize is all dependent on which proffesion you chose when you created your character. so read carefully what each proffesion does and you can usually work out what you will recieve. a few examples are :
Field medic-Tl 10 heal spell
Driver-Next quad
Infiltrator-Stealth tool
Assassin-Sniper rifle

Im just giving new ppl an oppertunity to make their own choices based on more than a hearsay (yes when u r posting that about C2p, its a hearsay until some kinda proof in form of emails, letters, phonecalls or something like that have been published in here).
I dont doubt that some ppl may have had bad experinces with C2p or any other payment company, but that doesnt mean they never produce the service they claim. :)

Exactly what i was talking about, i never called no one a liar, i just asked for the proof, not just for me, but for anyone who might read this.
Though ive been looking into some of the links, and some of them have no actual proof of anything, and some other are really wellformed.
I think the c2p experince varies a lot from one customer to another, just like when i had problems with PBC, other ppl told me they had no problems at all.
Im not C2Ps guardian :angel: in no way, and i dont intend to be either.
I just dont think its fair to paint a picture in just one color if u know what im sayin. :)
I must admit i dont get it why ppl have so many problems with C2P anyways, i know some in NC who had problems with them too, dunno if it makes any diff that i dont live in the US?!?
Ive been mailing c2p a few times asking when my acct will get active and so on, each time ive had an answer within 1 day which i think is ok. :)

Well personally the reason i left in the end was due to the bad community more than the failures of the game.

Evidience I'm basing click to pay on, is as above, plus personal, which for the sake of backing my comment I will provide, long story short it involved them dipping into my account on several occasions that were not part of the agreement I held with them.
Although I don't really see why I should justify something that, if a little research is done, is proven to be blatantly obvious.

Welcome to neocron, a passionate community, a game with qualities that are constantly under debate. If you like to provide input about the world, you'll find lots of scope here. Some good, some bad. It all depends on your mood :p
Just to repeat myself here.
1) C2P is questionable at best - look at it's affiliates, and take some time out to read the above linked threads.
2) If the frenchies want to carry causing these arguments where none exist, I have a brand new import for them, my balls to thier lips. If I hadn't have made a comment, Boreal would not have bothered to make his post, a simple scan of the forums is evidence enough. If he wants to be a twatstick, let him.
Coming from a veteran, I have the only piece of advice you will ever need. Ingame chat is the best way to get any questions answered. (F1) alt-c cycles channels, make sure you enable the appropriate ones.
The best ones to use are HELP/FACTION/ALLIANCE

Well, forums are rarely a necessity to any MMO. You don't have to surf them in order to peruse the actual service. If people are put off by posts on a forum, then I fear the day they're PK'd or run into someone abrasive on the chat channels. It's probably trigger a nervous breakdown.

Your fighting a losing battle, the NC Community is a very good one if you get to know the people. Much better than that of WoW

i agree with that although it was always a few idiots that seemed to outshine the decent folks. ignore the wannabe aol kiddies and there are some nice people who have played and do play this game and if you find one they will tell you all u need to know in game.
If you can avoid C2P, they for some reason like to charge me for my monthly pay and then the day after it clears make my account expire and have to wait to the next business day after that to call some idiot who doesn't speak barely any english to click the "let me play button".

EDIT : since people don't understand when i do sarcasm and joke (spemy your the first in my head when i think of that) let jsut say it THE game where you get adicted and alway come back one day or a other.
on a other hand, spermy your JUST A FREACKING **WANNA BE** so stop saying crap each time i say sometime. LOOK at the fack, the guy ask something, you answer crap, i come and save the day. FINAL
C2P is like a piece of money, you never know witch side you will fall off..... first time i have play, got about 1 month of debat whit them since i have choise the 6 month payment and they think i have never cancel (think about it, they never give me my money back ???... i have forget that). And since i hare RENEW (about 4 month ago) i got no problem. guess it like EVERYONE say, it up to you, it not save 100 %, but it not bad!!!

boreal, this topic ended a while ago. C2P are useless, I know it, KK knows it, the whole NC community knows it, and so do a lot of people who quit. Because C2P ARE the reason they quit.
Shut up and get off Spermys case, what is it with you? You seem to comment negatively on either him or his posts in every thread he posts in..
